So me and my friend are watching G:wing for the first time in at least ten years. We used to watch it as kids on Toonami all the time. His dad walks into the room looks at the screen for like 5 seconds and says "This is Gundam Wing huh?"

This really has to be the best gundam series. All others try to play off the wing series, but will never come close. They should remake it in HD or CGI, and sall it Gundam Wing EPIC

@gxknightt Get your fact straight. Wing is an AU, as in, it's just another attempt to capitalize on the success of the original Gundam time line: Universal Century.

Even now, decades after the first Gundam, the UC timeline hasn't died, with Unicorn and Origin (remake of the original Gundam anime)

Wing only gained so much recognition in the West because it was the first to cross the ocean. Without that 'first time' nostalgia, it's not that special or epic.

@JVGuide some of us dont have to time to watch all of uc so we stick to the alternate universe series and uc is really old and dated and doesnt look nearly as good as the recent series so you cant really blame anyone for not wanting to watch it

BTW, you can watch an UC series without seeing all previous entries actually, and they are remaking the very first Gundam (which, obviously, has no previous entry) as Gundam Origin

I myself jumped into UC with Victory Gundam (at that time, the latest UC title), then 08th MS team and 0083 with no trouble understanding them.

Gundam Wing isn't the best series, but it's far from the worst. My only complaint is the fact that every time the various series are brought together, they bring in Zechs and Heero, ignoring just about every other fighter. What about Duo, or Noin? They're better than seeing the same bland "masters" of the Zero system.

Still, Wing holds up well against other series. About equal to G Gundam, not as well developed as UC but tries, and a damn sight better than Seed..

@BlueDemonofFire i'd say that AC was a contender for greatest after UC. Of course its not fair to compare any Gundam series to the trend setter, and considering the only weak link in the UC universe was Double Zeta, it stands to reason.

Even so, throwing away all of the nostalgia factor, i just finished watching Gundam Wing again(literally a few days ago), & the series seems much different to me than when i watched it as a kid, namely, the political intrigue and character symbolism stand out so much more now than when all i cared about was the explosions & when Relena and Heero were finally going to kiss...not that i don't like that stuff now heh.
