and another reason why Asians aren't really all that poor is because in the 70s a lot of Asians bought up English houses, then they kept other migrant Asians in there to pay off the mortgage on their houses, my uncle did this, he bought a whole block of HUGE houses and after paying off the mortgage he got every 2 houses joined into 1. Plus Asians like to lease out their rooms to migrant Asians..I know several guys who are doing this and because their houses are huge they make over 1 grand/month.
Also that study doesn't make the distinction between British-born Paki or migrant Pakis. There has been a huge surge in migrants from Asia snce 2007 and obviously they're gonna be poorer than their British-born counterparts. Other than that, I don't know too many British-born Asians which are in ''poverty'' since most of them are graduate from College and even the ones who are unable to get jobs open up businesses like taxi drivers, restaurents, garages, firms. etc.
Just to add, Indians are generally better off than black people but they only make up a small percent of British Asians and statistically they still have higher poverty rates than white people. Not because they are worse in any way, probably because its a predominantly white country so its harder for minorities to succeed. Asian people do seem a lot more in control of their children than poor white and black communities.
Reason why it might seem that Asians are poor is because most of them sign in for dole and then work on the sly, a lot of them do this in fact so the government thinks they are in ''poverty'' and earn less than they really do, Asians in fact just fiddle the numbers on their work hours since most of them tend to be self-employed like taxi drivers and then they tell the government they earn less than they really do to get more benefits.

Asians aren't the poorest in the UK, get your facts straight. Indians are the most successful ethnic group and outperform other groups when it comes to academics, all my cousins are doctors, lawyers, pharmacists (in fact I have like 3 pharmacists in my family who all have thier own chemists), computer engineers etc. and most Indians are rich middle class esp. the Hindus. The only Asians who underperform are Bengalis but blacks and whites from low-income areas are the worst.

That study is old look at the date - 2007. And ''Asians'' is a broad category of different ethnic groups. Why did you conveniently leave out Indians? I don't believe that for one moment btw. All the Asians I know earn salaries of well over 60k. and I read a study somewhere which said that it's the white ethnic Britons which are getting significantly poorer, in fact CH4 showed a programme about a white familyh which could not even afford sofas and chairs in their house.

Of course low income whites aren't going to earn much, the clue is in the phrase 'low income'. Asians don't do better in education either, they do better upto GCSE level but overall Pakistanis and Bangladeshis are the most likely ethnic groups to have no qualifications, at 40% and 29% respectively. The point is that there were an overwhelming number of Blacks and whites involved in the riots compared to Asians and most of those looters and rioters have even been named by the police, I've yet to see one Asian name. In fact the first person to be prosecuted and evicted from his council estate house was a WHITE guy. And there's no way of knowing whether all the images are of Asians, it could be a brown immigrant from the middle east from somewhere like Iraq for all you know.

even prior to the killing of those 3 paki men, there were racial tensions between Pakis and Blacks in that area since a gang of Black men attacked a middle aged Asian woman only a week ago. after the black men killed those 3 paki men some Blacks drove by the mosque and chanted ''burn burn'' etc. not to mention all the hate messages Asian get from the EDL, so you see its you lot black and white which are the troublemakers.

Afro Carribs have more in common with Whites and thats why I always see those 2 groups together. the white guy who got evicted from his council house has a black girlfriend and his mother married a black. You'll hardly see things like that with Asian girls. we are conservative and dishonouring our mothers is a sin which is considered worse than murder to us. all i see in the UK are asians being attacked, ie blacks killing those 3 pakis in Manchester, blacks/whites looting that malaysian boy etc.

We are conservative, religious, and don't involve in gun crimes. Our families are extremely patriarchal, whereas yours have absentee fathers (on average). We believe paradise lies under the feet of our mothers and our fathers are the key to eternal bliss, we do as our parents tell us, ie Asian girls in general aren't allowed to have pre-marital sex and we follow those rules. Just because you see a Brown face on CCTV does not mean they are Asian, a lot of Afghans and Iraqis migrants look Brown but ignorants like you would look at those images and think they are Asian because you cant make the distinction between bearded youths from that region of the world. and another reason why Asians aren't really all that poor is because in the 70s a lot of Asians bought up English houses, then they kept other migrant Asians in there to pay off the mortgage on their houses, my uncle did this, he bought a whole block of HUGE houses and after paying off the mortgage he got every 2 houses joined into 1. Plus Asians like to lease out their rooms to migrant Asians..I know several guys who are doing this and because their houses are huge they make over 1 grand/month.

Also that study doesn't make the distinction between British-born Paki or migrant Pakis. There has been a huge surge in migrants from Asia snce 2007 and obviously they're gonna be poorer than their British-born counterparts. Other than that, I don't know too many British-born Asians which are in ''poverty'' since most of them are graduate from College and even the ones who are unable to get jobs open up businesses like taxi drivers, restaurents, garages, firms. etc.

Just to add, Indians are generally better off than black people but they only make up a small percent of British Asians and statistically they still have higher poverty rates than white people. Not because they are worse in any way, probably because its a predominantly white country so its harder for minorities to succeed. Asian people do seem a lot more in control of their children than poor white and black communities.

Reason why it might seem that Asians are poor is because most of them sign in for dole and then work on the sly, a lot of them do this in fact so the government thinks they are in ''poverty'' and earn less than they really do, Asians in fact just fiddle the numbers on their work hours since most of them tend to be self-employed like taxi drivers and then they tell the government they earn less than they really do to get more benefits.

To say that most white people live on council estates is a bit of a sweeping and blatantly untrue statement, especially considering the fact that, according to the 2005 Survey of Social Housing, the race with the largest percentage living in council accomodation is Bangladeshi at 52% of thier total number.

in fact the recent murders of the 3 pakistani men in Birmingham was all about blacks killing Asians because they are jealous of Asians owning businesses there and taking over the neighbourhood. There was racial tension between Blacks and Asians there already but the riots just sparked it off. Indians are the most successful ethnic group and outperform other groups when it comes to academics, all my cousins are doctors, lawyers, pharmacists (in fact I have like 3 pharmacists in my family who all have thier own chemists), computer engineers etc. and most Indians are rich middle class esp. the Hindus. The only Asians who underperform are Bengalis but blacks and whites from low-income areas are the worst.

That study is old look at the date - 2007. And ''Asians'' is a broad category of different ethnic groups. Why did you conveniently leave out Indians? I don't believe that for one moment btw. All the Asians I know earn salaries of well over 60k. and I read a study somewhere which said that it's the white ethnic Britons which are getting significantly poorer, in fact CH4 showed a programme about a white familyh which could not even afford sofas and chairs in their house.

Of course low income whites aren't going to earn much, the clue is in the phrase 'low income'. Asians don't do better in education either, they do better upto GCSE level but overall Pakistanis and Bangladeshis are the most likely ethnic groups to have no qualifications, at 40% and 29% respectively. And I didn't leave out Indians, read all of my comments.

The point is that there were an overwhelming number of Blacks and whites involved in the riots compared to Asians and most of those looters and rioters have even been named by the police, I've yet to see one Asian name. In fact the first person to be prosecuted and evicted from his council estate house was a WHITE guy. And there's no way of knowing whether all the images are of Asians, it could be a brown immigrant from the middle east from somewhere like Iraq for all you know.

@diyonisha I'm not scapegoating anyone I'm sure the majority of black people are perfectly law-abiding but its difficult to ignore the fact that, bar Salford and Birkenhead, the riots took place in areas with large black populations. I don't think that this is because black people are less law abiding than working class white people, just that in this particular instance it would be impossible not to notice the racial aspect to the situation. 1 or 2 Asian people may have taken part but not many

I'm not saying that they rioted because they were black, merely that a disproportionate amount of the rioters were black. Have I proof that it happened in areas with large black pop.s? Well Handsworth, Winston Green, Toxteth, St Paul's, St Anne's, Chapeltown... these are all areas of rioting and basically the areas with the largest black pop. in every major city

The colo of my skin is black but that is the only thing I have in common with some of the rioters. I am getting on with my life and will be on the alert incase some idiots try to attack me physically or verbally. Look at the images released by the Met police, there might be one or two brown faces but the vast majority are Black and White. It's typically the children from low-income families who engage in this looting, so that's definitely NOT Asians because most of us don't live in council houses living off benefits we're richer middle class and our parents would smack us for this kind of behaviour.
