Here's Why: 1 There's a reason it was in the special edition corvettes (known as the z06). 2 More Efficient HP than ls2 (5.7 liter making 400 hp vs. 6.0 liter) 3 Cooler to say "i've got a z06 motor" 4 Every new vette, SSR, goat, Trailblazer SS, yada yada yada has them. 5 CTS-V was designed with the z06 motor in mind, not the ls2 6 More aftermarket goodies currently available 7 The Strut tower brace says LS6, not LS2 8 Its the Z06 Motor 9 Its the Z06 Motor 10 Its the Z06 Motor
no actually the ls6 and the ls2 have just about the same power band except the ls2 has a broader torque curve and 18 extra cubic inches so it really wasnt a step down
actually, both have the same horsepower and torque. the only difference is that the ls6 has a peak torque of 395lb-ft at 4,800 rpms, and the ls2 has a peak torque of 395lb-ft at 4,400 rpms. this makes the 2006-2007 generation about .3 seconds faster on a 0-60 run.

CTS-V series with six-speed HydraMatic IS quicker than the manual tranny. Generous Motors has really done their homework on the automatic. Shifts are lightening fast at speed yet absolutely imperceptable in day-to-day driving. I bought mine after seriously considering MB C63...NO MATCH! BTW, some ignorant 21yo said Cadillac had no racing background. Ever hear of LeMans, Carrera Panamerica, and so forth? IMO American cars are the greatest overall.

Whomever the Supra lovers are. Think of this we go off factory stock numbers. CTS-V will kill a stock Supra Twin Turbo. After market though yes prices do differ. Why would you compare a sedan to a coupe again?
You could put that same money into at least 15 or 20 other cars and they'd be wickedly fast. You'll pay about the same for an '04/'05 CTS-V as you will a 2JZ Supra. Of course the Supra will go faster for less money when you modify them. It's been out for much longer and has a ton of aftermarket parts available. Not to mention you're already starting with a forced induction platform with the Toyota.
i hate it when people dont believe me but i have a 3.6 cts (not v) and i gatta say its a quick little rwd fucker i just got it and its fucking amazing smooth and its a beast .. i give the car a 5/5 cuz its amazing looks great. can drift easy with it so if any one says it sucks on handling well thats a mistake.... who ever disagrees with me never sat in the car or is in denial... plus the newer versian can actully beat an M5 in every test... so there...
...who would buy a CTS to drift with? It's not a rice car, that's something a 240SX is more suited to...handling good does not = drifting, that's actually bad handling. A good handling car should stick in curves without the back end going out and without too much understeer. But of course the driver plays a big factor in it too. Take two identical cars around a track and have one guy drift and the other drive like you're supposed to - the drifter will put in a much slower time.
i dont drift with the car dude, i bought for an everyday car but you have to test the car so you can understand what it can do ..... i had the car for two months and it is just outstandingly smooth to me.... its midnight blue... and i got sued interior for it.... i love the car... alot....

Well, I have 68K on my V and no problems other than a little wheel hop here and there. For a 400+ hp vehicle w/sick handling, I'm at 17 city & 26 hwy. That's what I call the best of both worlds.
I owned a g35 coupe before my V. The V is a hell of a lot more fun to drive and it's beat's the pants off of the sportier "looking" G...Love my silent killer. PRIUS LOL!!!!

Well, I have 68K on my V and no problems other than a little wheel hop here and there. For a 400+ hp vehicle w/sick handling, I'm at 17 city & 26 hwy. That's what I call the best of both worlds.
I owned a g35 coupe before my V. The V is a hell of a lot more fun to drive and it's beat's the pants off of the sportier "looking" G...Love my silent killer. PRIUS LOL!!!!
PS. No tickets in 6 years!! Quality problems? ..I actually am very impressed with what Cadillac has done with this one.

to the idiot that said "let's see what happens when this car reaches 70,000 miles"... get your head in the 21st century. maybe this was true in the 80s, but these days american cars are OUTPERFORMING and OUTLASTING imports. do the research. My first CTS-V (daily driver) has 130,000 miles - still going strong. My second (track car, used and abused) has 58,000 miles - never any major issue. I say major because i have had it in once for a cosmetic issue (broke a headlight).

Hey blademan, shut up and quit preaching. he can what he wants with his car, and btw a cts-v gets better gas mileage than a honda pilot while weighing more and having double the power. Or he could get a prius huh? If people like you didnt exist then everybody might know that a prius takes more resources than a hummer to operate and build, or that they cause more ecolgical damage than a v8 landrover.
