Love The Video Even Though You Didn't Talk. I Don't Like When People Talk Because, They Tend To Ramble. And Love The Phone Also. Has It Worked Good For You Thus Far?
Are you serious? You don't even talk during your unboxing? Then, you buy a freaking 8GB sd card, when it already comes with a 2GB sd card... go figure. Great quality though. But remember, you need to talk dude.
Please explain to me what is wrong with using an 8GB microSD card with this smartphone. I store lots of music and many videos on my Sprint HTC Hero so more space is necessary in my situation.
By the way, that 8GB microSD card only cost me $12.00 at NewEgg over a year ago. I had an extra one from my previous smartphone. As for the talking thing, I agree with you. In my forthcoming videos I will be talking.
This is the Sprint CDMA version of the HTC Hero. So, unfortunately, no, you cannot flash this phone to work with T-Mobile's GSM cell network.
The Sprint CDMA HTC Hero does not have a SIM card slot. The HTC Hero from the United Kingdom and other European countries is a GSM phone with a SIM card slot. Perhaps, you could look into importing that version of the HTC Hero. Finally, the HTC myTouch 3G is similar to the HTC Hero and it is designed for the T-Mobile cell network.
Alright, I will admit that I accidentally put that you should slide the cover down, towards the USB port, in my previous reply to you. That is incorrect and you should instead slide the back cover up and away from the USB port when the HTC Hero's camera is facing you.
It has been nearly two months since I took the back cover off so I forgot which direction you slide it in. Finally, I am sending you a message with a link to a website that shows how to remove the back cover of the HTC Hero.
Yes, I did copy those instructions from HTC's website. I thought it described opening the back cover fairly well because those are the same instructions I used when I first removed the back cover from my HTC Hero.
The back cover is not totally enclosed and it does slide up if you apply a little pressure to it. If you are holding the HTC Hero such that the camera is facing you and the USB port is facing the ground, then you can slide the back cover up using your thumb or finger.
I also had difficulty with this the first time I wanted to remove the back cover. However, once you learn how to take it off, it becomes a very simple thing to accomplish.
To remove the back cover, first make sure the phone is turned off. Hold the device securely with the front facing down, then, with your thumb or finger, slide the back cover upwards and remove.
I want to see a video of someone switching out their sd cards on this phone. I just bought the phone and a SD card but the manual looks like its showing different phone when it explains how to switch them.
I switched out the 2GB microSD card that came with my HTC Hero for an 8GB one. I did not have too much trouble with it, but pressing the microSD card in far enough with your finger, so that it ejects, can be difficult.
The manual might be showing the GSM version of the HTC Hero. The process is very similar for the Sprint CDMA version of the HTC Hero. Slide the back cover off and press the microSD card in to eject it. Finally, put the new microSD card in and push until you hear a faint click.
The version of the HTC Hero that you see in this YouTube video is not available in the United Kingdom as far as I know. This is the Sprint CDMA network version which is in the United States of America.
The United Kingdom version has the same name but looks different and makes use of the GSM network. From what I have read, the cellular provider, Orange, carries the United Kingdom (GSM) version of the HTC Hero.
the plastic envelope isnt used necessarily to return the htc hero after it dies... you can return any old phones you may have and dont want anymore in it.. sometimes depending on the phone you recycle, they will give you a certain credit to your sprint bill... not sure if its the same program for the plastic envelope though.. might be a different one
You are most certainly right. You could return any old cell phone in that plastic envelope. I just figured that most people would save it to return their HTC Hero when they got their next cell phone. I actually usually keep my old cell phones for nostalgia purposes.
Thanks for the information about a possible Sprint account credit by returning an old cell phone. I did not know that they offered that credit and that is useful information for other people watching this YouTube video.
I found the name of the program for the phone credit. Its called the Sprint Buyback Program. They will give you a credit for any old Sprint phone you may have. Not all phones qualify and they will only accept any old phone that has been active on the account in the past or currently. The prices are decent, they will give me 75 dollars for my old HTC Touch Pro lol...
i hav thee gsm version

This is the CDMA version of the Hero for Sprint.. you're thinking of the GSM version of it...
jorge10928 2 years ago
oh ok,my bad.Personally I find the GSM version to be more attractive than the CDMA version.
kingofkings2603 2 years ago
lol i like this version better, the chin on the GSM makes it look weird for me.. :P

@jorge10928
true! they shouldve kept the squarish shape though.this one also looks good but slightly generic.
kingofkings2603 2 years ago
Yes, like jorge10928 said, it is the CDMA version of the HTC Hero for the Sprint network. I am going to relabel my video to make that very clear.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. These comments help me to make the video better for everyone who watches.
