  • Good collection. You can listen modern piano concerto on Youtube: Robert Rossi "Rain and you".

  • i like all those piano concertos u have chosen

  • Futuristic picture... nice job. Love that all music

  • Is Andre Watts the pianist for the Tchaikovsky?

  • @chutdigadut correct you are.

  • @chopsky awesome. That guy puts every bit of heart he has into each note he plays. Great selection of concertos

  • PLEASE tell me what the last song is, love it so much,,,

  • @Darciinz Not really a 'song'. It's the 3rd movement of Rachmaninov's 2nd concerto

  • The Romantic concertos are by far the best because there is the most expressive instrument at their disposal, the 19th century piano-forte. Compare the Classical perfection of Mozart and Beethoven to the Romantic legato of Rach, Tchai and Greig.

  • what is the third song to be played called?

  • @S2Elizabeth Third song? This video features only Tchaikovsky's Concerto No. 1 and Rachmaninov's Concerto No. 2 (as is written).

The third segment of the video however, is the 2nd movement of Tchaikovsky's 1st Concerto.

  • Music like this makes me happy :)

  • Chopsky: I'm a huge fan of Romanticism. And looking at your username, then mine, I realize that the construction of our names are very similar. Love your taste.

  • where did you find the background picture for rachmaninov?

  • Dude, all four of those piano concertos are my absolute favorites. Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 3 is the best though. A good contender worth mentioning is Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2.

  • @nickmaestro Prokofiev's 2nd isn't exactly romantic.... But it is indeed my favorite piano concerto EVER! Yay!!!

  • @nickmaestro --AMEN.....PROKOVIEV #2 AND RACH #3 ARE REAL WARHORSES AND POWERFULLY EMOTIOINAL...THANKS NICKMAESTRO

  • Yeah these are all boss, love Tchaikovskys its like just when you think it cant get any better he throws another golden phrase your way, and Rachmaninoff he must of been using like Liger Blood or something to write his concertos cause those things are kingly to put it lightly, and Grieg come on that guys just a bad ass straight out of Norway, with Ole Bull and stuff.

  • I take it you're not such a fan of the Germans (Beethoven, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Brahms)?

Anyway, great music and beautiful artwork! Who did the third painting (the lovers on the swing)? I don't think I've ever seen it before, but it looks like a masterpiece.

  • I am a fan of certain Germans composers, especially Beethoven. His 5th Concerto along with Schumann's Concerto in A almost made it into this series. Nevertheless, I decided to pick the 4 Piano Concertos I undoubtedly listen to most.

  • Beethovens Symphony 5 mov 1-3 is geniuse no music has ever changed my emotion like symphony 5 no music will ever change my mind that symphony 5 is the best

  • Yeah I really like Franz Liszt concerto 2, but I'm pretty finicky about the interpretation of it. If you havent heard that you ought to check it out, and Bach concertos 1-5-7 are all ear ticklers.

  • @Gargantupimp Which interpretation of Liszt's 2nd is worth a listen? I'm not much of a baroque lover.

  • Ive been listening to some USSR Radio recording of it on Napster, but theres a Richter recording on youtube which should be better since Richter is a class A pianist, yeah F Liszt 2 thats a fun one, F Liszt 1 is good to I just like 2 mo. You ought to check out Richters Rach 2 aswell he really nails it I think.

  • Yeh, Richter's Rach 2 is a little slow for me. I prefer Ashkenazy (with Kondrashin), Earl Wild, Van Cliburn, or the William Kapell version on youtube. I like it when it has a bit of "Voomah!"

  • Thats my biggest problem with Richter to is that alot of it is really slow, and not terribly interesting as far expression goes. I just like how he bangs out the chords of the finale lol. At the opposite end of the spectrum I like Rachmaninoff himself alot, but mostly for the first concerto and the fourth. Horowitz for the third, and Tchaikovsky.

  • @Gargantupimp Wow. Can't say I like Horowitz's interpretations of either. For me, it's Volodos or Janis for the 3rd and for Tchaikovsky either Van Cliburn or Watts.

  • Really why not Horowitz? I havent heard much Volodos TBH or Janis but ill have to check them out.

  • The only Horowitz/Tchaikovsky I've heard was really bad sound quality. Just didn't like the sound of his playing. Same applies to his Rach 3. And he seems to make many mistakes in the performances I've seen/heard. I don't doubt his ability, just prefer other pianists when it comes to these concertos. Give them a listen. You'll see what I mean.

  • @henripche Sorry, only just saw the bit in your comment about the painting. It is "Spring" by Pierre Auguste Cot.

  • Thanks! I had almost forgotten myself.

  • Wow! "Things as they ought to be and can be". This is it.

  • You have a very good selection.

I think you have made my list aswell

  • Thanks. What list?

  • I mean that your have selected the 4 Piano Concerto's that I like best, so I thank you so much for uploading your video!

I cant wait for more uploads!

  • Ah...I see :)

  • These concertos are some of my favourites as well, especially the Rachmaninov! I have something in my body that will make sure I will not tire of Rachmaninov's music! There is so much passion, power and beauty in his music.

  • A beautiful compilation. This is a fantastic glorification of the Good.

  • I hope you're not expecting me to pick a favorite from between these 4 masterpieces. My head would explode.

  • I'll get the mop...
