Would repaving it with concrete help at all? I don't remember where I read this, if I find it I'll reply to my comment with a link, that concrete has a higher initial cost than asphalt but has much lower maintenance costs, so it pays for itself in a few years when compared with asphalt.

To avoid expensive pavement replacement costs and major traffic delays, MoDOT should consider using High Density Polyurethane (HDP) to restore the load bearing capacities of the base and sub base.

HDP is injected directly beneath the pavement to fill voids and underseal cracks, then injected at depth to densify & strengthen the supporting base & sub base.

Repairs are completed in days (1-lane mile per day) and not months as with pavement replacement; saving tax payers dollars and time.

Wasn't it the Missouri Highway Commission (now MODOT) that was one of the strongest advocates for 80,000 lb. trucks.

What happened to the huge amounts of excess tax revenue the large trucks would generate?

If highway deterioration caused by heavy trucks is in fact causing safety issues, then MODOT should determine what truck weights our highways can safely support, and invoke emergency weight restrictions to preserve what roads we now have

MODOT, any plans to do a similar info video for rail infrastructure maintenance costs...perhaps as a comparison to highway maintenance costs?
