The difference is the plug in required to play flash, where vector graphics should be able to be done native to the browser.
Besides, Flash cant do "anything", its severely limited because adobe hasn't really any competition in the web media scene to make them push ahead with tech developers want, like hardware accelerated graphics.
There are already efforts underway in the browser scene, notably webGL(native) and O3D (plug in).

Flash cant do anything??? :O
Man Flash can do almost anything, and it will never die!Its not just the vector graphics you know... its action script and the integration with XML,PHP,SQL...
Also Flash has a big competition.Microsoft, yes MS!Have you heard about Silverlight? Its the ms version of flash.
1) Flash cant talk to SQL, it talks to a web server (running php or other), which in turn talks to the database. mentioning SQL is pointless.
2) JavaScript does the same thing, heard of Ajax?
3) I have developed applications in Silverlight, so i know what it is (more than you)
The reason i say flash is limited is because it doesn't leverage graphics hardware. Look at pv3d, its slow, lacks a depth buffer, and renders in software..
Browsers are catching up fast. Flash will slowly die.

It's the camera fault. They are recording it from the projector display instead of directly from Mac. Really stupid.

Flash will hopefully die in the next 5 years.
