  • I like this!!! Would so much rather watch this than the crap that is on TV now!

  • Around 2001 I helped Jon Heitland do a video interview of Allan Calliou who acted and wrote episodes such as the Quadipartite Affair, the Giuoco Piano Affair, and the Bow-Wow affair. He lived in Sedona and has since passed away. Fine gentleman and nice guy. I've known Jon for about 21 years. As you know he wrote the definitive Man from UNCLE book.

  • Back in the mid-70's Robert Short and ,I believe, Danny Beiderman went to MGM and tried to sell a script for a new UNCLE. All execs they talked to thought that there were too many cliches and instead of Vaughn and McCallum they wanted Tom Sellig to play Solo. Not my idea of Solo, or theirs for that matter. They didn't contact Robert or David but some producer whose name I have forgotten did go to the stars and found they were interested. The result was that awful 1983 Return of The MFU TV movie.

  • @joshweiss01 The producer in question was Richard Sloan. You can see him toasting with Vaughn and McCallum on the end title slate. Around that same time period, my partner David M. Lynch and I wrote a black and white MFU comic book that was drawn by Ken Penders, and published by Entertainment Publishing.

  • Cute.

  • Patrick Stewart is the shiz, but it would be amazing if David McCallum got to play Alexander Waverly.

  • You do nice work. And the casting isn't that far off.

  • this is good. now here's what we do ... you film George et. al. and i'll provide the goodies. could be a peach keen idea.

  • Very clever and well done!

  • That's great stuff!!...Good job!

  • Clooney, now way, but you could cast him as someone from THRUSH. Kirsten Dunst would be good as April Dancer, But Orlando Bloom? Now way. Patrick Stewart as Waverly? No.

  • Sorry to burst your bubble, but Clooney is in talks to play Napoleon Solo.

  • @doggsector I agree with you, most of this is poor actor choices, Orlando Bloom doesn't deserve to play Illya Kuryakin, nor does Clooney deserve to play Solo, this one's relying on too many big name stars. Orlando Bloom will probably be a washed-up has been by the time he reaches the age David McCallum (the man who originally played Illya Kuryakin) was in 2003. Anyone who replies to this calling David McCallum w washed-up has been is an idiot.

  • Nicely done! As far as Clooney goes, no thank you (it's a role for a real actor, not a grinning mannequin). Still, well done on your part.

  • great video..and nice to see u used the original music too :))

  • OK, that cracked me up. Brilliant casting! I'd pay to see that!

  • Well done. I'd like to see it.

  • Very good but Orlando and Kirsten could easily be replaced by better actors! Still I would watch it!

  • Great video. But which character was 'Clay Delamort', and who played him in the original series?

  • Outstanding job!

  • Comment removed

  • Clooney, yes. The others, not my pic.

  • When are they going to make this one with clooney!

  • I like Clooney as Solo. But Orlando Bloom as Ilya? Oh hell no! I'd go with Sean Bean as the Russian instead.

  • Hahaha, I like. I couldn't take that cast seriously, but kudos for the hard work :D

  • I've been thinking jesse spencer from house as illya, and jeffrey donovan from burn notice as solo.

  • @sutcliffe62x i like that a lot

  • Pretty wicked casting, definitely think Stewart would make an excellent Waverly. I can see Dunst as April Dancer too. Well thought out, great idea.

  • Why in God's name with this potential cast give it a try. It can't be anything worse than what they're making now! I for one would actually go see it! That's a rare occasion for me!

  • Nice work... but frankly, after the last few attempts to bring back these good old shows, I'd prefer that Hollywood leave them alone. Star Trek '09 was dismal, The Wild Wild West movie was disappointing, the latest Twilight Zone stinks and I didn't like the new Galactica. If you produce a new MFU, well, maybe...

  • Hot damn! George Clooney as Napolean....oooh yeah- I like that!

  • Why can't David McCallum be Alexander Waverly?

  • @gqjohnny he's too busy as Ducky on NCIS.

  • I like it!

  • This is really clever

  • Very good.

  • why don't warner brothers start the movie of this i miss the series but i have the dvds of the series i even belonged to the UNCLE CLUB back when i was younger!

  • Very clever... heh heh heh...

  • James Doohan was also in Part 1 of The Bridge Of Lions Affair, from Season 2. Sporting a very poor English accent, which is surprising considering how good he was at voices in...well, everything else.

  • Liked the graphics.

    As for the actors.....

George Clooney as Napolean Solo is ok.

Orlando Bloom as Illya Kuryakin? No way !

Surely someone come up with a better choice.

Patrick Stewart as Alexander Waverly ?

Leo G. Carrol WAS Alexander Waverly, but....

Kirsten Dunn as April Dancer? I'd prefer Jessica Biel in the part.

    Who would play Mark Slade?

Anyway, just my 2 cents worth. Thanks for the vid.

  • lol

  • not bad go ahead and make the movie

  • Excellent promo! Wish it was real!

  • While we are it, The original Outer Limits spawned a whole whack of these actors. Between the three series, they must have the largest common cast list of any 3 shows in history.

  • For those who need context, I was responding to "Star Trek charActers" in UNCLE.

  • Doohan in The Shark Affair. Kelly was the only one of the big four not in UNCLE. Several minor repeating characters were in UNCLE, as well as dozens of one or two time actors like Jill Ireland (1 ST and many UNCLE)

  • I'd watch that! Where was Mark Slate?

  • Have you even seen her act? If you haven't, then see her films, otherwise please don't talk smack about someone you know nothing about.

  • UNLCE vs WIMPS

  • The briefcase is worth 10K (with camera still working 20K), extending machine gun 5K, Lighter/Transmitter 3K

  • Oh, that's just *perfect* casting for Solo and Kuryakin.

  • Sorry, but a new Man From U.N.C.L.E. show/movie would have to be different from what happened before, owing to the time spent off television (this show's popularity isn't the same as Star Trek: TOS), changes in technology, and kinds of plots, etc. A movie would have to be like the first season crossed with 'Alias' or 'The Agency'.

  • Sorry fool. This show is popular to the tune of 30K+ if you have the UNCLE briefcase. By the way, most of the ST characters appeared on Man from UNCLE.

  • A 30K fan base, now dying off due to old age, and few reruns. Most people don't know who or what UNCLE is, and would have to be brought to speed. If you think that you can do a better job, by all means, go write the script and submit it. But don't be angry when it comes back with a rejection slip. Oh, and one more thing; Not knowing about how Hollywood operates make YOU the fool, not me.

  • I'm aware that two ST actors appeared on UNCLE. (In the same episode, but not with each other) "The Strigas Affair."

Who else were you thinking of?

  • Doohan in The Shark Affair. Kelly was the only one of the big four not in UNCLE. Several minor repeating characters were in UNCLE, as well as dozens of one or two time actors like Jill Ireland (1 ST and many UNCLE)

  • HAHAHA!!! That is good!!...and that cast could make a hit show!!

  • Who the heck is Clay Delamort! LOL. Actually Clooney would have made a perfect Solo. These days Ilya would probably have been cast as a female character. Kirsten Dunst as April? Perhaps ... her or Scarlett Johanssen.

  • Pretty cool...we'd have to blonde-up Orlando though!

  • Very good!!!!!!

  • deezer&*com/track/the-man-from-thrush-T991111

  • They have the man from uncle book"s. No need for new plots.

  • Good Job !

  • Hmmph! That's pretty damn good!

  • Vaughn + McCallum vs Clooney + ???. Bye the way, they didnt represent the music

  • They both hold their own.

  • Kyle McClaghlan should be Napoleon Solo, not Clooney.

  • That's a good call. But he gettin on abit noe aint he?

  • "Man from THRUSH"

  • "Solo on a Raft"

  • Hopefully thay can represent the original soundtrack

  • I respect those three great actors, but I can't understand sth. We know thah Robert Vaughn "IS" Napoleon Solo and Mc Callum "IS" Illya Kuryakin and Stewart "IS" Capt. Piccard of Startrek. The characters were created for them and not for others. However, good idea.

  • I loved the Man From U.N.C.L.E. and Get Smart. Both were funny, though UNCLE was more sneaky and wittier. I wish they would redo it, but it seems like no Hollywood writers know how to do witty dialog anymore. It's like they hope you're drunk enough to laugh at anything.

  • Help m, I'm an spanish-speaking person. I'm interested you describe me what means "witty". Tks

  • Well, according to the dictonary, "quick or ready to see or express illuminating or amusing relationships or insights". But, perhaps the best example, is Illya sneaks up behind a guy and knocks him out and Solo says"you're really sneaky, how'd you do that?" and Illya said "I'm sneaky, remember?"

  • You've got that right. It seems that the entertainment industry has lost the ability for creativity, imagination and story telling and now it all revolves around special effects and violence and most of what's produced is pure trash. Just look at all the innovative shows from the 60's in comparison.

  • Charlie Sheen would be an ace Solo

  • Robert Vaughn and McCallum could have blown this movie to 100 million, with special guests

  • 'Robert Vaughn and McCallum' are not big box-office draws, OK? Clooney and Bloom are, and so that's who's going to put bums on seats, not just aging fanboys and fangirls.

  • The Ministry approves

  • I'd love to see this at the movies!! Hey Hollywood, anybody awake over there!!!!

  • I'm sold!

  • I realize this is a mock-up, so to speak, but they really are running out of movie ideas. Its bad enough when they make movies out of video games. But the movies made from 60s tv series...please

  • Yes, because movies from 70s TV series' are so much better; "Charlie's Angels" anyone?

  • i like it.

    the animation is cool. :)

  • Didn't know they re-made UNCLE!Any more?

  • ...And I tell you what; with all the Great ideas posted on this site, the Networks'd HAVE to have their heads up their arses if they don't remake and bring it back. Fucksakes, if they could do it with Bionic Woman using a British actress to play Jamie, they can surely do this.

  • That's a wicked clip dude. I'm an UNCLE fan from way back. Like your choice, but how bout Kevin Spacey for solo. The voice and the mannerisms, I've always seen him as a Vaughan carbon copy. Yes and Owen Wilson (if he'd remember to turn up for rehearsels) as Kuryakin. I was also gonna say Colin Farrell, hmmm buut then again, maybe not.

  • Once I saw a movie (don't rmmb, I'll look for it) where a young actor worked and he seemed Vaughn's son, he was very similar.

  • When I first saw Owen Wilson acting, I said to my self, THERE is your Illya. And Kyle MacLachlan is a great choice for Solo. Guess we can only dream, huh?

  • i would say stellan skarsgard as kuryakin and solo as bill paxton

  • How about Kyle MacLachlan as Solo and James Spader as Illya? Well, maybe fifteen years ago I would have said that.

  • Mac Lachlan is PERFECT as Solo.

  • Fuck yeah! i was yelling that the whole time i was watchin this. Make it So!

  • Ten years ago, I would have said Alec Baldwin and Ralph Fiennes as Solo and Kuryakin. I think Clooney might be a little old now and Orlando Bloom too much younger than Clooney. How about Chris Evans as Solo, Robert Carlyle as Kuryakin, and Stephen Rea as Waverly? Clooney could make Mark Slade (as the character was presented in "The Project Moonglow Affair").

  • Excellent casting choices! Don't know if Clooney could pull this off?

  • George Clooney as Napolean Solo? Wowie Zowie!! Yes...I definitely like that! Gee whiz..if TV was this good-I'm start watching it again! Bring it on!

  • as the only living t.h.r.u.s.h. agent ( arranged for by the late David McDaniel ask me sometimeI commend you on this effort. a proposed U.N.C.L.E. movie has been kicking around the studios for years. Maybe they will finally do one before we're all too old to remember what U.N.C.L.E. was...

    for the hierarchy,

somewhere in the western united states..

  • Excuse me,but you forgot Agent Mark Slade, the agent 'who's buisiness is death',played by the British actor/singer,Noel Harrison.Who's playing him?

  • i, love it its great, brings back so many happy memorys, i am old enough to have seen it when i was at school in the 60s. you made me laugh so much, thank you. annie.xx

  • Interesting. However the music is not up to date. How about a jazz-fusion version?

  • What the hell. Hollyweird hasn't had an original idea in years - so let Cloony play U.N.C.L.E.

Now if you could've just showed the original opening - entry to HQ through the tailor shop.

Any word on the new 'Westworld'? I heard Gov Arnie was slated to play 'Chris' Yul Bryner's name in The Magnificent 7 and his robot persona in Westworld.

  • I think Joaquin Pheonix would make a terrific Napoleon Solo. He seems like a better age match for Orlando Bloom. Also, Hugh Jackman would make an outstanding Mark Slate.

  • I saw the Batman and Robin movie, and agree the first three were better, but only request that this cast be given a fair chance.

  • to my mind the man from uncle is one of the top five most iconic tv sreies ever, high praise i know but it's well deserved.

  • LOVE this! How exciting, fun, and creative. I ADORE your cast choices. George is the PERFECT new Solo and Orlando is a very beautiful, expressive man-boy! I totally see that. Thanks for creating this and please don't worry about some of the comments that don't seem to 'get' it.

  • George Clooney in the big screen version of this classic television series. Impressive!

  • Hey skiperino, how about either Brandon Fraser or Owen Wilson as Ilya Kuryakin?:) Also, if you're going to make a redo, how about using the jazzy 2nd season theme by Lalo Schifrin? Thanks :)

  • not the best version of the theme tune

  • You're right. The best version was the lean and bongo'd Jerry Goldsmith version with strong bass lines...I think GErald Fried got pissed when he heard his theme altered...but I lvoed it as a teenager and waited all week to hear it. ANother show around that time also had great music..T.H.E. Cat, with Lao Schifrin's score, and also lots of night club jazz in the shows...never released. Try Uncle Headquarters here on youtube for the best theme...

  • T.H.E. Cat is just the coolest theme you ever heard. i listen to that over and over again. that and route 66.

  • Skiperino, thank you so much for making this! U.N.C.L.E. was a huge part of my childhood...If only Hollywood actually had this much imagination! ^ ^

  • With this video, you've done more to create a "new" UNCLE than anyone else. You can nitpick it to death, but this video definitely re-creates the excitement I felt as a child when I first saw The Man From UNCLE.

  • COOL...let's start filming!

  • That was pretty awesome! It was cool even if you got George Clooney's name wrong.

  • Very nice. And, yes, the theme is from the first season (specifically the second half of the first season).

  • shouldn't you really use a more modern handgun than a luger in the titles but hey still good work

  • I was kinda going for a retro look... but if you have any suggestions I can always replace it.

  • Hey not bad but isn't that the music from the 25 years later affair(correct me if i'm wrong)but damn good casting and BRING IT ON !!!!!!!!!!

  • Actually the music is from the black and white first season. I like it much better than when they did the jazzed up versions in later years.

  • Great work. I like it.

  • Orlando Bloom as Ilya Kuryakin? Hmm. Not quite. Good choice though. :)

  • Well... who would you pick? If I like it I'll replace him.

  • I could live with this cast :)

  • how about matt(the bourne identity)damon?

  • Patrick Stewart as Alexander Waverly, Great casting! This is fun to see, thank you!

  • This was GREAT - good work (drunk or not!!!!)

  • Wow! That was incredible!
