hey joshkornage...the lightest stock beetle was like 1850 lbs. i believe any sedan from the 60's weighed about that give or take a few pounds, my 68 is probably about 1700, i have taken out the back seat, stripped the trunk of any unnessary items, lighter rims ect...
Man... I am going to be such a pimp after I buy my house. My Taurus SHOs should be done by then. My garage will be for a JAPSLAPPER of a VW. 1914cc, dual Webers, PHAT cam, bulletproof tranny on Rivieras. I hope these clowns can understand me. ANY CAR can be made to go fast.
I remember that one, i was there (out of shot too the left of the guy filming, subaru got f'd in the a by a few bugs that year!! also by the silver VW bay window with the TVR engine if i recall correctly! that was wicked!

I was just wondering what is the lighest beetle shell you can get? (i know the 1303 and 1302 beetle shells were the heaviest. thanks.

As a simple rule the earlier the beetle the lighter it is, so an 11G (splitwindow ragtop) would be the lightest shell.

The suburu is stock 2.1 flat 4, the bug has a 2276cc vw flat 4.
Not a porsche engine, that would slow it down ;)

Both cars have modified normally asperated Beetle enignes. The white one is 2110cc and the blue one 2276cc.

No chance is that a stock motor! If you look carefully the engine lid is raised up slightly, more air for the massive engine inside it.
