Can someone explain to me how makoto did a jumping forward/backward hardpunch when doing a neutral jump? Cause that's not her neutral jump punch... does it change if you parry?
It was a better game cause there were sick things that could be done with the right skillz but any game that got a 100% bail out mechanism like the parry on everything is not balanced that is why they replaced that with the focus attack mechanism
@gakothechef Yes, to some degree...for better or worse. Just check out Eventhubs for whichever character you play. Or just google it. There should be something listed for all of them.
I LOVE THEM BOTH! but damn thats a sexy combo!!!! five stars from me :).....im afraid i agree with voodazz i doubt she will be as combin as she was in 3rd strike :( but im sill happy to see her in ssf4!!!!! :D MAKOTO IS THE BEST LOL XD

you might not like my opinion, as i actually like SF4 and most 3S fans dont.
i think its a very solid fighter and if SSF4 is as aggressive as s-kill says it is it will be a very good game. sure you have the "usual suspects" in 3S tourney play, but that japanese nationals qualifier for SF4 had 7 sagats out of the 24 players, so really you cant knock SF3 for that without knocking the "better balanced" game. IMO 3S was just more fun to mess around with, but i am beyond hyped for SSF4.
no i understand completely, as I like sf4 as well and am mega hyped for ssf4...and im not going to play any of the 3s characters...im sticking to viper...I simply cant wait for them to fix the little quirks that keep on making mii call bullshit...but i definately enjoy sf4, even tho i think 3s is the best thing to happen to world since oxygen
SF4 is infinitely more balanced than SF3. for one, the worst character in the game doesnt even have any match ups worse than 3-7, and even goes 5-5 with some of the cast (dan is this character). with SF3 though, 7 of the characters have multiple 2-8 match ups.
also in SF3 you wont win a tourney if you arent one of the big 3. on the other hand, SF4's head honcho (sagat) has yet to win a major tourney despite the number of people who use him.
SFIV is wrong even in theory, c'mon, dhalsim has low hp beacause he is a keepway character so you should hit him hard up close.
Sagat is a great keep away character, with kara uppercut, 6HK and TK as AAs and fireball spam, his throw sends you back to the other side of the screen easy to combo ultra, and he's got like what, 200-300 more hp than dhal. And WAY more damaging and efficient up close.
Not in 3S, since the game works way more in close quarters than 4, it might give a better chance to any character with basic mixups,(UOH helps too) so even if it IS more unbalanced the game is more varied. The bad point in this is that easy to confirm SAs, insanely good pokes and strong mixups weight more than anything else.
My point is, the 12 year old 3S feels more fresh and varied now, with all "exploits" found, then turtle fighter 4 with it's 2 years.
lol i know dude, but its still a good game. its flawed, but SSF4 suposedly fixes a lot. i know sagat has the standard 1000 health now (instead of 1100), he deals less damage (i think fierce TU does like 50 less now or something like that), i mean they're trying. sagat slipped through a big crack i'll admit, but he's the only flaw in the game's balance IMO.
@SukiyakixD True he is strong up close, but you need to either use an uppercut or knee up close to be powerful. All your oponant needs to do is guess your attack and there's half your life. And up close, when he's down, he doesn't really have a lot of good options to get out of pressure.
He's strong but most people playing against him just don't know what to look for and so they lose.
Get your fact right... Sagat did win more tourney that you can think. It's not only the top three that did win all the tournaments in SF3 too. I saw almost anyone in the cast one at least won once. Urien, Makoto, Dudley, Ryu, Necro, Alex and a a lot's of others. I still play the 3 mainly because I don't like matchup in the 4. Facing Sagat is like facing the boss in the 3. Even Yun was not that cheap.
name one major tourney where a sagat player won. iyo (dhalsim), daigo (ryu), jwong (rufus, balrog, fei long, cammy), poongko (ryu) and many others have won major tourneys. i've seen sagats win small local stuff, but never anything big. the simple fact of the matter is that if you're good at the game sagat isnt a huge deal unless you're one of the 7-3 match ups, hell even luffy's rose placed better than sagats did. we (me and you) arent good so sagat's blatant top tier status gives us trouble.
@majinsupervegito Sagat is a big deal, everything about him is easy and the fact is most of the best players you listed don't need to play Sagat to win and what if they did.. then you might see them win a big tourney as well. Anyway, the tier list is just a way of saying in most cases amongst pro levels this character beats this character out. I'm off topic a bit.. I mean when all you have to do is f+hk, f+hk ultra for half health don't you think that's too easy?
honestly, i dont ever see f+hkX2->ultra land in match. good players dont just jump at sagat like that. the fact that he can do it is scary, but if you know he can then you dont give him that chance for free, right? part of the problem is people look at what sagat can do and not what they can do. do less random jumps, FA through fireballs more. there are ways to get at sagat without jumping which doesnt give him that chance, and if you're eating random uppercut to ultra then...
@majinsupervegito All what you said make Sagat A tier, characters work very hard to get into him when he can sit back and do a few simple motions. While certain characters like Sim even played with Iyo have to do rediculous high-risk, high-reward moves to have a chance. Sim deserved a few tools in ssf4 but didn't get them. Anyway, your right about people looking at what they can do and what they can't.
and while i agree that sim needed some tools, he wasnt the only one. another way to balance games is to remove a good characters tools, and losing trade to ultra was a big one for sagat. losing health and damage output was another, as well as losing kara TKs and his combo to ultra only doing 400-something. SSF4 doesnt look like it will have the same problems SF4 does, although i do admit if his core play remains the same he will still be toward the top of the tier list.
you're playing recklessly. i'm not saying sagat isnt too good, and that he doesnt have blatant tools others lack, but he's not the big deal the mid level players make him out to be.
i'm a mid level player, i have trouble with sagat, i'll admit that. but that doesnt mean that sagat is broken, it means he is exploitable at mid level play. a characters potential is how match ups are determined, high level play. sagat owning scrubs means nothing, sagat doesnt own high level players.

@majinsupervegito I don't play recklessly.. i'm mid-level like yourself of course or else we wouldn't be having this discussion lol. I'm not talking about Sagat owning scrubs like a ken who just crossup mk into hp+dp. To me he seemed like a hard matchup with a majority of characters out there compared to others. Oh btw who do you main and sub?
i main balrog, i sub akuma and rose (and like everyone else, i know how to play ryu). i've mained balrog since CvS2 was relatively new, so i dont feel the least bit bad about it. hell i use him in alpha 3, and he pretty much sucks there.
and the reason i said you get hit by that is because you play recklessly is because i get hit by that kind of stuff when i get frustrated and reckless.
and yeah, he is a rough match up for most of the cast, but its still no worse than 7-3...
for anyone. its not like chun, yun, ken in 3S where some characters have 8-2 match ups. when you look at SF4 tiers, the lowest character is much closer to the best character than in any other SF game. sagat just stands out so much because what makes him good is so obvious, and if you are mid level like us you might not know your way around it (i do as balrog and sort of as akuma, my rose tends to get face fucked by sagat... but balrog and akuma are top tier).
Yeah I agree with this completely. Don't get me wrong SF4 has it's downfalls, but it is well balanced. But a well balanced mediocre game is still mediocre. Makoto won't be this bad inSSF4 either. First of all since Abarai is now Ultra you won't see two of them coming out in one round back to back. Although Super (tanden Reki) plus ultra is available which is pretty dang mean.
@layarteBdnAevoL OK ppl im pretty sure everyone got the point across that its 2 combos not 1, and good on u layarte for spotting it. Also this is only possible if makoto were to somehow have that 1 lvl of super when the match starts 2
@layarteBdnAevoL Yeah, and honestly, it's not that hard to parry that, which is why if you watch a pro Mak player, like Boss... you'll never see that reset.
I even see RX get hit by resets all the time...he just knows when to parry one and take another. It's all apart of how you want to toy with your opponent's momentum, that's all.
Regardless of whether it was or not, that happens to anyone there not going to sit there all cool at the machine like " Oh yeah this is great, I'll just parry at the second reset and make my awesome comeback " And how much do you fail telling me I have shit for brains.....Then typing you'd in that same sentence, tell me where in school they taught you that....You'd....rofl go cut yourself please : ]
I don't need to use any sort of proper grammar. I c@n typ3 in ani fuckery I please, im not the one who insulted someone else with a derogatory comment unprovoked. And for someone who is so hip and hop on their <--)big whoop :] ) contractions they would know logics is how the word is stated. Stop using spell check : ]
Again, you continually fail at correcting grammar; due to the context of what I said, "logic's" would be correct, as I'm simply using a contract of "logic" and "is".
Not to mention you state that you don't need to use any sort of proper grammar, even though in a previous post you decided to correct my grammar, making you a hypocrite as well as an idiot.
And I wouldn't say I was insulting you unprovoked; if someone is being a total idiot, I feel it is my duty to inform them as such.
And you just fail epically at knowing when you've failed. I didn't say you don't have to write Logics how you did for no reason. It's maybe the one word you don't need to contract even if you have a word behind it. And you just justified me calling you whatever I did. So yeah, your a cock juggling twat cream. How was I being an idiot when your the Street Fighter fail that said most people that play street fighter suck at it. Whats your tournament name ? Where are your videos ?
Not even going to go into your grammatical and spelling errors.
I would, however, like you to point out exactly where in my original message did I say that most people who play Street Fighter suck at it.
What I merely stated is that you people were assuming that this was a true match, and talking about the Dudley player like he was a functioning human being.
That is not the case; this was obviously either training mode, or simply a set up between two people to showcase a rather impressive Makoto combo after a parried EX Machine Gun Blow.
And finally, I never stated that I was better than any Street Fighter player, nor did I state I was any good at Street Fighter.
I am merely an average player living in Vancouver, where there's not much of a tournament scene.
When you combo, your attacks get weaker and weaker, what a reset does is make it so they do 100% again.
Heres a crappy Example using made up numbers: a regular punch does 12 damage, combo it and the next punch will only do 10 damage instead. The move did less damage. but by grabbing or jumping over the person to force them to turn around, they are 'reset'
Oh? Fuck, I play other games that the reset actually resets the damage. Sorry for the misinformation. But thanks, I didn't even know that, I could use that to my advantage now. I'm still learning this game, thats right, STILL learning this game.
If you parry and attempt to punch, the punch is different as if you were jumping forward to heavy punch. Just try it your self. Jump in the air pressing HP with no parrying, then try auto parry a Chun-Li special and jump and parry the last one. you'll see that she does her karate chop going down instead of turning around side ways doing some weird Makoto shit.
Heck no. It does because he parried it in the air. She would done the side karate chop instead of the karate chop going down. Same for Daigo vs Jwong. When he parried the last one in the air. His kick wasn't a high kick. The hk went down. I hope you know what I mean.
well if he wanted to he could start the comno with command grab s.fp instead of j.fp. I think the parrying is just for show. And also gives you the option if someone happens to EX gun you outta the blue
Dood...this is the second me I've seen a one-combo KO with Makoto. The first time was when my cousin went to a x3o's tournament last year. He does it differently, but has the same stuff: stun gauge and that special used twice. He made it to the semifinals, and lost to a guy who kept watching his matches, lol. Well, it's about time people are starting to notice Makoto's one-combo KO.
agh i just realized dudley has a longer stun bar than most ppl, I take back what i said, that combo won't stun him but it will against most chars. For dudley thou u can 100% stun with: j.HP, HP, SAII, dash, (HK kara)dp+MP, dash, dp+LP. Then you can finish him off easy if you have a bar left still. (*srry for all the comments >_<)
Aye i used Dudley to show the potential of this combo if not predicted. On common characters i.e. Chun-li, Ken it will 100% stun them with a normal Karakusa > HP.
ill show u an unstoppable combo with dudly that is a stright up lose no matter where u are in the corner or in the middle i can show u how to put it on someon ill make a vid and shot u as soon as i can get a cam lol
np, but juss fyi in case u didn't no, if u manage to start that combo with a jumpin like u did, u'll be able to stun them with a simple dp+HP, sj, qcb+HK after the super. Then, if you still hav a bar u can easily finish them off with the one combo. So in that case you don't need to take the chance with the reset
lmao, wtf is stuck up ur ass swift. Yes he knew it was a reset maybe you should read the other comments be4 u go into a rant. And so what if it's reset, it's called taking chances, welcome to fighting games prick. We've all seen Makoto's classic resets and I personally think this is a pretty kool 1. GJ Uesugi
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You can't be serious. Do you even KNOW that you reset that? In the first place, when I see the dash, I'll know your scheme, and parry your ass. You're just another kid obsessed with Abare Tosanami to me.
Good demo. Your Makoto is pretty mean on xbl - I've been on the end of it a few times. Now stop playing Final Fantasy and and start playing SF3 again.
i kinda agree with kelopohi only because if u parry that first hit of the special then u wouldnt need to parry the rest...but its still a very sick combo
Can someone explain to me how makoto did a jumping forward/backward hardpunch when doing a neutral jump? Cause that's not her neutral jump punch... does it change if you parry?

Epic combo, always nice to setup and pull off when the timing is right pissed my brother off last night with this same combo. Makoto owns.

This is not a combo, this is a reset
ThePhyzer 2 years ago 9
I may just be a newbie, but it seemed that the combo broke at 0:10, can't Dudley air parry it from that point?
layarteBdnAevoL 2 years ago 61
ya he can parry it in air (if he was a pro)
shnoobii 2 years ago 7
@shnoobii
Come on man, you don't have be "pro" to parry it. You just need to be familiar with the timing.
This pro thing has people too worked up.
Styxorcist 2 years ago 6
@Styxorcist
So true, If people stopped talking about having to be "pro" then more people could get into it and get better. At least thats what I think.

No it was an air reset
bobaryanmage 2 years ago
you would likely only have to parry one hit but its till sick and would definitely catch people off guard

@trizizzle032
True, and im not undermining the video it was still sick
bobaryanmage 2 years ago 2
@layarteBdnAevoL You're right, it's not all one combo. It's an air reset which can be parried out of.
tenthman22 1 year ago
@layarteBdnAevoL OK ppl im pretty sure everyone got the point across that its 2 combos not 1, and good on u layarte for spotting it. Also this is only possible if makoto were to somehow have that 1 lvl of super when the match starts 2
mattieboy01 1 year ago
@layarteBdnAevoL yes, Dudley CAN parry at that point, it's nice against people who don't even attempt to parry the entire round though...
SuperDooperChan 1 year ago
@layarteBdnAevoL No. It's an air-reset.
TheBiz182 1 year ago
@layarteBdnAevoL Good luck with that...
WolfSyn 1 year ago
@layarteBdnAevoL Only if Dudley is hit with a reset attack. Light Kick or Light Punch wouldve reset him, enabling an opportunity for an aerial parry.

@layarteBdnAevoL Yeah, and honestly, it's not that hard to parry that, which is why if you watch a pro Mak player, like Boss... you'll never see that reset.

Wrong.
It's called a reset.
Not a lot of people catch the reset....just because you can't see the resets doesn't mean you suck.
Batou2006 2 years ago 2
but it also mean you are far from pro
DboiKidCrisis 2 years ago
Not even that.
I even see RX get hit by resets all the time...he just knows when to parry one and take another. It's all apart of how you want to toy with your opponent's momentum, that's all.
Batou2006 2 years ago
dudley could of parried the second SA2 but then again most ppl who play this game suck and wont be able to parry dat lol
darkzealot07 2 years ago
most people that play this game sucks...? i dont even wanna bother tell you how many things are wrong with that statement.
Alansr10 2 years ago
It's not that he sucks the makoto player had him assed out. He probably just panicked. You need to be a little bit more considerate.
StealthConcept 2 years ago
Or maybe if you guys didn't have shit for brains, you'd realize that this was not an actual match.
Jankenpop 2 years ago 3
Regardless of whether it was or not, that happens to anyone there not going to sit there all cool at the machine like " Oh yeah this is great, I'll just parry at the second reset and make my awesome comeback " And how much do you fail telling me I have shit for brains.....Then typing you'd in that same sentence, tell me where in school they taught you that....You'd....rofl go cut yourself please : ]
StealthConcept 2 years ago
You find the word "you'd" funny considering it's just a contraction of "you" and "would", which is definitely a word in the English language?
The logic's definitely there.
Not to mention you obviously need to review the difference between they're, there and their.
If you're going to call someone's correct diction and grammar incorrect, at least do it with correct grammar and diction.
Jankenpop 2 years ago 2
I don't need to use any sort of proper grammar. I c@n typ3 in ani fuckery I please, im not the one who insulted someone else with a derogatory comment unprovoked. And for someone who is so hip and hop on their <--)big whoop :] ) contractions they would know logics is how the word is stated. Stop using spell check : ]
StealthConcept 2 years ago
Again, you continually fail at correcting grammar; due to the context of what I said, "logic's" would be correct, as I'm simply using a contract of "logic" and "is".
Not to mention you state that you don't need to use any sort of proper grammar, even though in a previous post you decided to correct my grammar, making you a hypocrite as well as an idiot.
And I wouldn't say I was insulting you unprovoked; if someone is being a total idiot, I feel it is my duty to inform them as such.
Jankenpop 2 years ago 2
This has been flagged as spam show
And you just fail epically at knowing when you've failed.
StealthConcept 2 years ago
Not even going to go into your grammatical and spelling errors.
I would, however, like you to point out exactly where in my original message did I say that most people who play Street Fighter suck at it.
What I merely stated is that you people were assuming that this was a true match, and talking about the Dudley player like he was a functioning human being.
Jankenpop 2 years ago 4
That is not the case; this was obviously either training mode, or simply a set up between two people to showcase a rather impressive Makoto combo after a parried EX Machine Gun Blow.
And finally, I never stated that I was better than any Street Fighter player, nor did I state I was any good at Street Fighter.
I am merely an average player living in Vancouver, where there's not much of a tournament scene.

I still don't know what a reset means.
Shed some light?
burger87 3 years ago
When you combo, your attacks get weaker and weaker, what a reset does is make it so they do 100% again.
Heres a crappy Example using made up numbers: a regular punch does 12 damage, combo it and the next punch will only do 10 damage instead. The move did less damage. but by grabbing or jumping over the person to force them to turn around, they are 'reset'
SoulBankai 3 years ago
Oic. If I do a reset on an opponent(0.09 in this case?), can they parry the next hit?
burger87 3 years ago
reseting does not reset the damage.
In fact supers off of resets scale even more.
Only thing resets DO do is reset the stun damage so you can potentially do stun combos like these.
This isnt gaurenteed however cause dudley could have parried the 2nd super.
Humbag 3 years ago 6
Oh? Fuck, I play other games that the reset actually resets the damage. Sorry for the misinformation. But thanks, I didn't even know that, I could use that to my advantage now. I'm still learning this game, thats right, STILL learning this game.
SoulBankai 3 years ago
Yes, Dudley could have parried the second super art.

A straight upward jump wouldn't yield a flipping fierce chop, would it? (at 00:03)
Jialat89 3 years ago
I think it depens on wether or not your rising or falling.
Uesugi90 3 years ago
If you parry and attempt to punch, the punch is different as if you were jumping forward to heavy punch. Just try it your self. Jump in the air pressing HP with no parrying, then try auto parry a Chun-Li special and jump and parry the last one. you'll see that she does her karate chop going down instead of turning around side ways doing some weird Makoto shit.
By the way, anyone can auto parry. Aha...
flyingspiral15 3 years ago
Heck no. It does because he parried it in the air. She would done the side karate chop instead of the karate chop going down. Same for Daigo vs Jwong. When he parried the last one in the air. His kick wasn't a high kick. The hk went down. I hope you know what I mean.
SheuhX 3 years ago
i think you can hold d+f while in the air to do it jumping straight up...anyone know for sure?

@Jialat89
After any air parry all aerial moves become a forward or backward version.

Could've went into a stun juggle there from a MK Tsuurgi. Not sure if it would have enough space to go back and forth. Probably just the corner.
SheuhX 3 years ago
I don't like that reset. It can be scary.
SheuhX 3 years ago 2
well if he wanted to he could start the comno with command grab s.fp instead of j.fp. I think the parrying is just for show. And also gives you the option if someone happens to EX gun you outta the blue

can the second super be parried?????? not trying to pick on this, just wanna know.
yohomofo 4 years ago
yes it can but you would have to hit the parry before the 2nd super was let off which is very hard to predict.
Uesugi90 4 years ago
WAIT! this is kinda like uhhh Crazy Makoto COmbo 7. ummm i never thought it was possible. SO it ONLY works in DUDLEY?
SheuhX 4 years ago
no it works on anyone.

can i be able to do it on a ps2 controller? i think arcade might be different than the game.

MuuDood 4 years ago
Whoops, I meant to say that he could pull off the super special twice in a row while the opponent was still in air, like the one in the video.
MuuDood 4 years ago
That was nasty sick and it makes me wanna go on mame and play some 3rd
ChicagosWildest 4 years ago
agh i just realized dudley has a longer stun bar than most ppl, I take back what i said, that combo won't stun him but it will against most chars. For dudley thou u can 100% stun with: j.HP, HP, SAII, dash, (HK kara)dp+MP, dash, dp+LP. Then you can finish him off easy if you have a bar left still. (*srry for all the comments >_<)
kingzabuza 4 years ago
Aye i used Dudley to show the potential of this combo if not predicted. On common characters i.e. Chun-li, Ken it will 100% stun them with a normal Karakusa > HP.
Uesugi90 4 years ago
ill show u an unstoppable combo with dudly that is a stright up lose no matter where u are in the corner or in the middle i can show u how to put it on someon ill make a vid and shot u as soon as i can get a cam lol
NativeBones 4 years ago
How do you mean; using dudley or vs dudley?
Uesugi90 4 years ago
useing dudley
NativeBones 4 years ago
Aye there are alot of cool juggles with dudley send a video response when you get a video up.
Uesugi90 4 years ago
np ill have it just give me a sec bc im haveing problems trying to save it like i cant get the vid recorded from my ps2 to my comp
NativeBones 4 years ago
oops, srry forgot to mention the jumpin has to be a HP
kingzabuza 4 years ago
np, but juss fyi in case u didn't no, if u manage to start that combo with a jumpin like u did, u'll be able to stun them with a simple dp+HP, sj, qcb+HK after the super. Then, if you still hav a bar u can easily finish them off with the one combo. So in that case you don't need to take the chance with the reset
kingzabuza 4 years ago
lmao, wtf is stuck up ur ass swift. Yes he knew it was a reset maybe you should read the other comments be4 u go into a rant. And so what if it's reset, it's called taking chances, welcome to fighting games prick. We've all seen Makoto's classic resets and I personally think this is a pretty kool 1. GJ Uesugi

You can't be serious. Do you even KNOW that you reset that? In the first place, when I see the dash, I'll know your scheme, and parry your ass. You're just another kid obsessed with Abare Tosanami to me.

pretty good if you have it all planned out - also parrying isn't the hardest thing to do.

i kinda agree with kelopohi only because if u parry that first hit of the special then u wouldnt need to parry the rest...but its still a very sick combo
