but it sends out passion and strenght and confidence... I dunno... I feel weird listening to these music, and I only feel like this when music means something else to me. Has more then the technique applied to an instrument... melody, rythem and lyrics... and passion in the people who do it does the difference aswell.

"Those Were the Days" is a russian song written by Boris Fomin (1900-1948) with words by the poet Konstantin Podrevskii.

The first known recording of the song was by Alexander Vertinsky in the 1920's. In 1968 Gene Raskin, put English lyrics to the Russian song .

The russian title is "Дорогой длинною", ( "Through the long road").

It is definitely a Russian song, was a number one in Russia (Soviet Union) in 1967, then Mary Hopkin recorded an English version in 1968...
