  • It's too sad!

  • Poor doggies:((((((())))))))))(((((((((((

  • Ugh this is so hard to watch. :(

  • it so sad i believe in spayed and neutered then dogs would not be killed in animal shelter we will have a law in alabama one the first of january of 2012 no gassing any animal

  • Do they kill animals in the humain society??

  • this video is so sad.. i sometimes get mad at my pitbull but hes my first pup and im home all day with him and he makes me feel safe =( it made me appreciate gim because i do get lazy on walking him

  • OMG I WISH I COULD SAVE THEM ALL....I WOULD. WHY CANT PEOPLE WITH LOTS OF MONEY OPEN A HUGE PLACE WITH LOTS OF LAND HIRE LOVING PEOPLE TO TAKE CARE OF THEM. I SWARE THERE ARE SOLUTIONS ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY AND LOVE. I WOULD DO IT IF I COULD. MY HEART GOES OUT TO EVERY ANIMAL. I LOVE THEM ALL. PLEASE WONT MORE OF US ALL ADOPT AND LOVE THESE ANIMALS. THOSE OF YOU WHO DONT HAVE ANY LISTEN...THEY WILL BRING SUCH LOVE INTO YOUR HEARTS AND HOMES EVERYDAY YOU WILL SMILE. PLEASE EVERYONE ADOPT!

  • I'm crying no lie

  • omg 0:42 looks like my coockie shes the cutest dog in da world

  • I am heartbroken at those sad faces, I wish I could adopt them all. There are so many ignorant people out there, who in their right mind would give a child a puppy for christmas, like it is a barbie doll or something, and if you don't like it just throw it to one side and play with a different one? There should be a licencing system in place, €5000 licence to breed your pet dog, fines if you break it. People should have to do a course on animal care before being allowed to get a pet.

  • awwwwwwwwwww poor poor puppies i can never leave my Astro (my dog)

    :(

  • Huh, we got our dog on Halloween. No trick-or-treating for us that year!!! And for all those people about spaying/neutering: I understand all of your concern, but there are happy unnuertered dogs out there. It doesn't make you a bad owner not to neuter or spay your dog, as long as you are attentive to the risks and are careful about it.

This does not mean that I think neutering should not be done! The average dog owner (including myself) should have their pets spayed and neutered.

  • i am looking for a forever friend to last me the years i have left, i am trying to quit smoking and live a healthier lifestyle, walking, running, swimming, but i need a buddy to do it with... noone in my family understands what im looking for... if you have an animal (dog) that needs a good home...please contact me... freekygurl-69@hotmail.com

  • This is so sad, but so true. I hate it when people buy dogs for christmas presents, or just buy them and not regard the breed so in a few years it will be discarded like an old sock. It seems to me people get puppies all well and good, but as soon as they get too big to pick up and hug, they don't want them anymore. people don't realised having a dog is at least a 14 year commitment. If you aren't ready, You shouldnt get a dog.

Such a sad video. All these dogs looked so sad. :-(

  • i cried when i saw this

  • This is soooooo sad

  • every liveing thing has a heart and that heart needs to be shared instead of broken....we think we own the world but...but what we dont see is that we arent the onlys ones here....

  • Although I completely agree with you, I really do think the issue must be guaged by the parents. If a parent wants a dog and has done proper research and gone through viable channels then they typically guage the needs of their children as well. My first dog was a Christmas puppy so I honestly believe the difference between flippant and eternal dog owners is how they view the dog, depedant or toy. I feel breed education is the next step, people getting shepards for apartments...it needs to stop

  • aww thats so sad i love dogs

  • awww that made me cry! how sad all my dogs are adopted!

  • how do i adopt a homless puppy or dog cuz i want one i want to buy a homless one not the one people sale my friend had puppy but i didnt want to buy it i want that needs a home

  • I saved my dog right around Christmas as my present. The people at the humane society knew nothing about him and weren't very knowledgeable because they told me my little boy was going to be 40 lbs... he was 40 lbs in 3 weeks... and is now a whopping 110 lbs.

I'd never trade him for the world... he's the reason I wake up every morning. Not everyone who gets a dog on christmas is going to throw it back... he is my protector and best friend..

    He is my world

  • SOOOOOOOO TRUE....MR. K's PET SHELTER

  • Beautifully Done, sharing.

  • that isnt fair

  • So SAD!! it makes me wanna cry

  • @TheBabwgirl Yes it is sad but if we all speak up and raise awareness we can help to stop the overbreeding of companion animals and explain to as many people as we can that adopting pets from shelters saves lives and spay and neuter is the key to less dogs being born that have nowhere to go. Thank you for watching and commenting, together we can make a difference. Best wishes to you. xx

  • @rockinfortheplanet i understand what you mean by trying to help the dogs in the pound first but you need to know that spay and neutering dogs is very hurtfull to them not only phisically but mentally and it is very expensive. i've had my dog now for 4 years he is 24 years old in dog years and 4 years in human he is not neutered and we've been trying to look for a mate for him. would you like it if you were a dog and just wanted a girl but your master took you to get neutered? i know i wouldn't

  • @HollyWoodGold101 Please educate yourself regarding spay and neuter, the operation is conducted under anaesthetic and dogs recover very quickly from this operation, which in turn helps to protect them from certain cancers when they are older. Yes it is expensive but if you cannot afford to spay or neuter your pet then you should not have a dog at all. The pounds are full of dogs that won't be alive tomorrow because of people who think it is ok to breed just one litter of pups.

  • @rockinfortheplanet That was a little rude. What about the people who rescue dogs off the street? What if they can't afford to fix the dog? They should just give up this dog that they rescued because they are unfit to own them? Fixing dogs is very important, and in most every case, it should be done. But sometimes the very people who will treat their dogs with the greatest love cannot afford to fix these dogs they strive so hard to save. What about them, hm? Sure they could go to the pound

  • @rockinfortheplanet and rescue a pet WHICH COSTS MORE THAN FIXING THEM, but what does that do for the dog on the street? Nothing.

I suppose, of course, that this case is not very often in most places, but where I live there are plenty of wandering dogs and many very kind, very poor people.

  • @HollyWoodGold101 you are so stupid. if a dog gets neutered/spayed, it no longer wants a mate and is perfectly content. while, on the other hand, if you don't get your dog neutered/spayed, it will go off, have 5+ litters of puppies, and a very large majority of those puppies will die or just have more puppies that will, of course, die.

It's people like you that have made me give up on the human race.

  • @killerqueen92

way to go to reason with someone by insulting them..questions the level of maturity you have. Everyone thinks different, plus its just not the owner, its also the pounds, rescues, counties with very strict laws when it comes to adoption.

  • Breeding isnt an issue of will or pleasure for dogs, they arent people, sorry they arent. When it is unchecked it is just another need. The handling of puppies is a difficult affair in and of itself, feeding puppies often takes weeks of hourly observed feedings.Besides un-nuetered and spayed dogs are the prime candidates for malignant cancer and benign tumors from adrenal secretions. Its not about what you think a dog wants, the dog is your dependant and its about his quality of life.

  • @tiemedown Lol. Whether something is a person or not is relative. We're all animals together. An alien watching human dating would probably say the same things about us, "clearly no will or pleasure, only need." Well, sure there's need; why else would people go to all the trouble? That said, as a pet owner I want my golden to live a long and healthy life, so we had him fixed. We are responsible for our pets welfare.

  • @HollyWoodGold101 my dog had a litter of puppies, and after we sold them to loving homes of people we knew had jobs for them to do(they are border collies), we took my dog to get spayed, and she recovered quickly, we kept her inside for a week so she didnt run around and rip her stitches, but after that she could go out (:

  • This is so sad and true. I wish more people would realise that its a very bad idea to get any animal as a christmas present. Christmas is generally a busy time/day for most people and is a bad time to settle a new animal in, the timing teaches children the wrong values, and most reputable dog breeders will NOT allow their puppies to be taken home over the christmas period anyway.

  • @Cazamelia not true my sister got her first puppy for christmas and he was a life changer he was the runt of his litter and grew up to be as large as my sister was when she was 16 he would protect my sister and me. he was a master at getting out too he once went to my school, my sister had to go pick him up at the pound. he lived to be the age of 12 which is 84 years in dog years but then he got sick and we had to set him down. also he was a outdoor pet and we still cared about him i luvu silver

  • Hi Maria;)

It's me Linda's friend Rosemary thegirlsnme.

Sure do miss that wonderful lady;)

Wonderful video...keep up the good fight.

Blessings and light and love from Detroit.

  • To click the "thumbs up" sign felt wrong because the poem was so true and so terribly sad. I hope that people take notice of the spay and neuter lesson. There are so many beautiful abandoned dogs in shelters all over the world it is heartbreaking. Thank you Maria for this very powerful video message to all. Gail

  • Things like this really irk me. We have the same problems here in America.

One of the big issues is how we've become a throw away society, and it's now spreading to living things.

    Great vid Maria.

  • Sadly an all to familiar story.. Animals are not toys...

Thanks for the video, lets hope it makes some people think twice & neuter their animals.. & not give them as christmas gifts.

  • This is so sad, bad people who do this will just treat a dog like if it's a toy. A dog isn't just for Christmas, it's for life. As for me I'm so going to enjoy seeing my 7 month old Miniature Schnauzer enjoy her first Christmas with us. =)

  • He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." -- Unknown

  • Thank you Maria great video and lovley Poem too very sad but so true.... forwarding on all over world to all my friends Thank you kepp up your great work helping Unwanted animals ALL THE BEST GOD BLESS YOU tony (savegreyhounds)

  • This message really needs to be seen and heard!! Well done, save a life, adopt a pet from a shelter, shelters need all the help they can get to save lives, especially at Christmas time and afterwards.

  • Thank you actionagainstpoisoning - > Live Waste - For the animals

  • For Chrismas - I wish I could help each and every one ! Absolutely heartbreaking !

  • @cvfa Me too Mary xxxx

  • Sadly this is all too true,

Dogs are for " life " ... not just for Christmas !!!

    Thank you Maria x

  • @neesan1 Absolutely Nees, it's time we put a ban on backyard breeding altogether! xx

  • that made cry .....i wish i could give those poor pooches a home ....it breaks ur heart x

  • @jane1407 Thank you Jane, yes I wish I could too :(

  • You've cracked it Maria ! This video says it all, who could not be touched by the poignancy of the words and images.........

Let's see this played on all the closed circuit tv systems in ALL city centres and shopping malls during December.

  • @inahaystack Oh if only that could be possible what a difference it would make, thank you for your kind words, I try in my humble way to say something in defence of these animals that will strike a chord and help them and still every day more appeals for homeless dogs come in, but with all of us on the case worldwide we must make a breakthrough soon, I hope so with all my heart. Thank you again!!

  • Amazing video - heart-wrenchingly poignant. Should be shown on TV throughout November/December! Fab work as always xx

  • @JacksHounds Thanks so much for your support as always, you never let us or the dogs down, I wish people could just get this message loud and clear, in 2010 no healthy dogs should be being put to sleep for want of a home, it's so sad :( xx

  • Can't say anything other than BLOODY BRILLIANT - gotta cross post this everywhere - thanks Maria xxx

  • @cushti06 Thanks so much, it came to me while I was walking the dogs today and I had to dash home to write it down, Paul stopped working on Jack's song so I could record the narration, it's a madhouse but I don't mind how chaotic it gets when we can create a message that might make a difference xx

  • Maria this is incredible and so sad. I really wish people would not get dogs or cats or any other sort of pet as Christmas presents. This can also go for not getting dogs for birthday presents but I really can't complain as Clifford was a birthday present for me and I love him more than anything in this world and would do anything for him.

  • @AussiesR4me Thanks so much for your lovely comment and I agree, in the wrong hands pets as presents is not a good idea but I've no doubt Clifford is loved and spoilt and has a wonderful life with you :) xx

  • I have a book called "One at A Time: A week in an American Animal shelter" which includes a separate "pledge for life"

Part of the pledge reads "I pledge to understand the commitment of living with a companion animal, and be ready and willing to accept that commitment before I bring an animal into my home and family.."

And another part reads "I pledge to work through problems with my companions and to include them in my life changes" If only more people would....... :(
