i feel sorry i have to correct the guy with the glasses(because i felt him the most and sorry for not calling you on your name);Aesop Rock is not at Rhymesayers but at Definitive Jux,now Hiatus.
and about the track, evidence sent the beat to slug and asked to put brother ali on it, but then slug meant that this is too much expected and that's why he proposed aesop as a feat. you can check the "Evidence - Inside Cats & Dogs" video: /watch?v=ry-K3Bro3YU some nice insight, also of the other tracks.
@elcattiv0 aesop is on definitive jux as a solo artist but he was in the group hail mary mallon which was on rhymesayers and they dropped an album this year.
Thats the kind of reception we have to find for most albums and eps these days.I mean guys like raekwon, evidence, alchemist, royce, curre$y,mos def ,and jay electronica have their careers on lock.Albums like watch the throne and carter iv are just mediocure
I didn't really take to his lyrics the first time through, just too slow for my ears. But I gave it a week and it grew on me, and his speed actually makes the lyrics stand out more. Of course, the beats are delicious. Dope album.
really good review, im gonna be looking out for more of these. you should keep your eyes out for eligh & amp live's new album "therapy at 3" coming out on november 11th. no promo. theres a promo on youtube though
I love how more open you guys are speaking now a days. Not with the reviews, convo's, but speaking more like the cameras arent recording. More profanity laced, not saying that that's why I like it, but it seems even more authentic.
Loving the channel, I watch reviews for albums I would never listen to just because the commentary is organic.
Sidenote: J Cole album was a let down, I liked the warm up more.
@BroadwayJoe88 Thanks for watching and actually liking us. It seems like you have been watching for a min to notice how we have progressed as reviewer/critics/etc. Thanks for the love
I agree with Beezy. The Ambiance in Ev's voice fits great over alc's pieces. "You" did not do that much for me. Solid album, not amazing. The mixtape I Don't Need Love from earlier this year was better in my opinion.
oh yeah i gotta admit, the only thing i didnt like about this album was the fact that Same Folks feat. Fashawn was not on it! I dont get why he didnt make that bonus track available on the album or even the itunes version of it.
Also are evidence and eminem cool now, I hope so, because it seems like the only rappers who get into beef are dope: nas and jay, LL and canibus, eminem and evidence
I had never heard evidence, album is incredible, and I agree with c-town about the flow, the monotone voice is weirdly good, which is ironic. Y'all barely mentioned good times and where you come from, both are sick tracks. Definitely buy this if you haven't
i like how y'all had like two words for "where you come from" aka the track with term. rak and ev absolutely killed their shit and somehow term found a way to fuck up a dope song. his verse is cotton candy. no flavor, no taste just a bunch of nothing.
album is dope as fuck outside of term's horrible verse
Great review as per usual, made me want to listen to The Platform again...would love to see you peeps review - Mr Muthafuckin' eXquire "Lost in Translation", its ill as f&ck with badass producers on board like El P and Necro...and FREE!
I agree with C-town, very impressed by the album, and I was actually also surprised with it, one of the best lyrical albums I've heard so far, I honestly think it was better than J. Cole's album, and I didn't expect that at all, very very dope.
i fuckin' love you guys for being fans of cage, aesop, brother ali, and a lot of other more underground names. keep the name drops coming, these people need to know good music
To me "You" was kind of boring, the beat is just so typical Premier which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it just doesn't surprise anywhere
