@hinson5150 definitely not more powerful at all. Ripper has a great range and the song was composed with that range in mind. Barlow has a much more intense kind of sound. Yes, he can't quite hit those highs like Owens, but Owens can't hit the lows Barlow can either. I think that Ripper is a great singer, but glorious burden was about it for that dude. But, again, I find Barlows vocals far more powerful.

Just watched a vid of Barlow singing Hold at All Costs and he nailed that. But this... he struggles towards the end. Weird. Ripper really nailed this whole suite on the album.

I believe Matt actually recorded the vocals for The Glorious Burden and then quit IE to pursue a job in criminal justice shortly there after. Jon Schaffer decided he did not like Matt's vocals because he could tell Matt's heart just was into it and his performance was not up to par. The vocals were then re-done with Tim. So, to say the music was written for Tim is an incorrect statement. I would love to here Matt's version of The Glorious Burden.

OH my God !! What happened to Matt ? He just completely screwed the vocals on that one !! I have seen both Ripper and Matt live, and I can tell you for sure Ripper's voice was perfect on that one. Even though I don't like Ripper version Of Dracula, he's one of the best singers nowadays and some songs he did with Iced Earth are better than with Matt (The Clouding, Ten thousand strong, or gthe entire glorious Burden album)

And I don't agree with you on ALL the songs that were re-recorder with Matt...The Studio versions of "Setian Massacre" and "The Clouding" with Matt are definitely awesome...but I personally don't want Schaffer to waste time and money Re-Recording shit though...not interested...its been done. Just move forward and give us new IE Material.

I think each song belongs to its rspective singer. Barlow's songs doesn't work with Ripper on vocals, and vice-versa.

Ripper has got an extremely different technique regarding high pitched vocals, that's why he's giving Matt a run for his money. But consider how Ripper sang Dracula, which in my opinion sucked. It has to do with the vocal technique they use

Man, the difference in Ripper's and Barlow's performances of the Gettysburg trilogy is the feeling. Ripper is like stunned on the stage.. all of you can see how Barlow makes you part of the battle ... just beautiful ! Great song !
