  • I only have a few

  • @tritomy99, I think more people would have chosen to get rid of their liver because if you pay your brain you can't watch the film which sucks, especially for Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman because that movie is awesome!

  • I remember when my obsession for monster movies started... It was 1997, i was 10 years old, and i saw the universal monster movie collection at our mall's video store. I begged my dad for it and i watched all of them. I loved every second of it.

  • Currently I'm trying to collect them all again to keep sealed since they're becoming collector's items.

  • I own every tape!!! All 37!!! The promos at the beginning of each tape are just epic!! Now at the spooktacular price of $14.95 ($14.98 on later issues) each suggested retail! The covers are so awesome also!!!!!

  • do u own every tape

  • @trimoty99 Ha? Boring

  • ah man, i wish i had em all. all i got is all the mummy movies, frankenstein, and the 1943 phantom of the opera. i wish i kept collecting them, but as you said, they were $15 each, and i was just a kid, so i couldn't afford them all :(

  • Nice collection! I don't own any of the Universal monster movie VHS tapes, a lot of those film that were usually shown on TV back in the 70's and 80's when it was part of WNEW-TV's "Creature Features" show. Back in the 70's, there were no VCR's back then. But in the 50's and 60's, there were films released in 16mm form that were made by Castle Films which contains scenes from every Universal monster film that were heavily edited, these were called the digest versions.

  • @HomeoftheGoodGuys Many of the versions found in 16mm, silent 8mm and super 8 film prints by Castle Films had cut down to 9 to 10 minutes to make the film much shorter. The Universal monster films from Castle Films are worth a fortune, it can be found on Ebay and other sources. Many of the home movie versions of the Universal monster films contains scenes that were completely cut off since the theatrical version.

  • @HomeoftheGoodGuys If you've never thrilled with the home movie version that Castle Films put out, you'll recommend with the entire Universal monster VHS collection. It's worth a collectable, but it's a ton better than the cut down digest version that Castle Films put out since the 1950's and 1960's.

  • My dad showed me these tapes when i was young, and when you started playing that advertisement (that was at the beginning of each one)... Nostalgia heaven man.

  • Bela lugosis birthday is this Thursday he'll yea

  • @seangx87 they never showed Frankenstein in this video. They showed his MONSTER

  • "How may I help you sir?"

"I want to buy the UNIVERSAL STUDIO MONSTERS CLASSIC COLLECTION...MUWAHAHAHAHA!..."

"The UNIVERSAL STUDIO MONSTERS CLASSIC COLLECTION that are sure to make you scream? Ahhhh! Ohhhh! Rawrrr!"

"Yes. The UNIVERSAL STUDIO MONSTERS CLASSIC COLLECTION!"

"Ok...that would be one arm, one vital organ either your heart, your brain or your liver, and a leg."

    "...."

"Well DUH! Didn't you ask for the UNIVERSAL STUDIO MONSTERS CLASSIC COLLECTION? Did you think it's for free?"

  • @tritomy99 Will it be Okay if my Wife paid instead?

  • @tritomy99 why not ask for the soul as well?

  • 30 people doesn't know what a VHS is LMAO

  • Is there a compete list of them anywhere? And do you also have the Universal Studios Horror Classics Collection?

  • ROFL from some of these comments btw i also thought frankenstien s rawt was funny lol

  • In reference to point being made around 2:00 it seems efficiency has replaced cosmetic detail (as in modern architecture).

  • my local video retailer doesn't stock acient shit

  • Did Frankenstein go/ RARGHA?! like a cat? Did he see The Bride naked or something?

  • @WebVManReturns It is not Frankenstein.

  • @WebVManReturns when did Frnakenstien say rargha ?

  • Rawr!

  • I remember this in the 90s

  • love monster madness

  • HA HA young james! <3

  • lol @ Frankenstein's growl at the end , think he might also use that growl in the bed room

  • insane in the red plane

  • must collect monster movies!

  • God, I miss those VHS movies. I remember my dad showing me all the mummy movies and I love the cartoon at the begining.

  • I want Universal to release 'The Island of Lost Souls' 0:35 on DVD and Blu-Ray already. C'mon it's been what fifteen or twenty years or more since it was released on VHS?

Someone anyone get it out there already!

  • @cha5 Criterion Collection is releasing it on dvd and blu-ray October 25. Spine #586.

  • @srh1son Thank you so much for that information! :-D

  • Comment removed

  • I want them to re-release those universal studio monster collection on dvd and blu ray. With the same cover art.

  • dracula's daughter? whats next...., dracula in the hood?

  • i got into horror movies the same way James. You and I are a lot alike with a lot of things-good luck with your career and life buddy.

  • "sure to make you scream"

    "AH!"

    "WAH"

    "rawr"

  • Anyone else thinking how many old videos does James have.... he has more flashbacks then family guy

  • heavily agreed! i like how uniformed they looked as well. i own these VHS copies myself and own them on dvd as well.

  • You could store all of those on a hard drive smaller that a vhs box nowadays

  • @Steven23490 No Shit Sherlock

  • @Steven23490 Who needs that bullshit.?

  • I'm collecting these. They just look so much better than all the dvd's that were released after these.

  • I remember when I first bought nine of those Monster Classic tapes back in 1999 when I was 8 years old... oh the wonderful memories I had

  • Hmmmm, I was born in 1995 . . .

  • Aaaaahhhhhh!!!

  • you should do a monster madness next year covering giant monster movies besides godzilla

i mean nothing wrong with these old horror films, but i didnt grow up with them so im a bit jaded about them

  • Lol, my music class is playing Phantom of the Opera.

  • @WHlTEDEVlL You realize that we stand up for him because he deserves to be stood up for. I wish to emphasize to you that he works hard, and that he puts alot of time and effort into those videos so that we can like them. You sir, are no better than RobertJest1.

  • Edgar Allan Poe ftw

    ...

    lol

  • @RobertJest1 You sir, are an uneducated Communist, whom needs to research America instead of ASSUMING that we're all greedy! Most of us are hard working, lower class people. James got very lucky in being able to have this job to get paid. I on the other hand have to work as a trashman AND a postal serviceman to afford my home. The fact that you have said that you've had enough of the commercials is stupid in it's own right. 1. Without them, James wouldn't get paid

    2. Without them, no Youtube, ja

  • Badass :P

  • ain't it fucking AWESOME when they advertise black and white movies with color??

  • Thanks for posting this on YT. I love this particular video just because of how much you love the VHS tapes enough not to want to get rid of them.

  • in that clip of @ 1:46 James looked like Mike

  • @wtyazzie2000 Hahah I was just about to say that. Young James looks like present-day Mike

  • didnt i see this video last year....or did the videos see me this year..???

    *twilight theme music*

  • "Classic monster titles that are sure to make you scream!"

    "Ahhhh!"

    "Ahhhh!"

    "Ruaah."

  • @theonidood How about this for a real screamer: Rush Limbaugh in a speedo, glazed look in his eyes, empty pill bottles on the floor and he's real happy to see you! AAAAAAAHHHAAAHHHHH!

  • @BluTrilobite :'(

  • @GuildOfWhores Sorry about that, too creepy?

  • @BluTrilobite Preposterously creepy. I couldn't help imagining Viagra being a part of his cocktail of drugs. :S Haha.

  • i have all of those to!!!

  • still waiting for monster madness on youtube

  • microframe at 2:13-2:14 James...

  • Guy: AHH!

    Girl: AHHHHH!!

    Frankenstein: Meh......

  • Long live VHS!!

  • Yeah Frankenstein... the screaming bitch turned me on to...

  • Holy shit, I actually kinda look like 1995 James. This is an awesome realization.

  • I think it's the same narrator as in dragonball Z. ''In the NEXT episode of dragonball z....''

  • House at 0.54

  • james have you herd of halloween horror nights?

  • That Dracula looks just like John Travolta @2:11

  • @TaoriUTS kinda harsh dude. lol go to his other channel Cinemassacre

  • @babyale760 not really harsh at all. others just unsub silently. i am giving him a reason for it. it's not that i dislike all of his videos. it's just that i am not interested in movies. it's just hell of a lot different from AVGN :)

  • @TaoriUTS true true. james just wants to show everything else he's into and everything else he does. James is not just AVGN. He's a director, movie lover, an artist, and etc. Showing us what he likes just tells us more about James. I'm a fan of AVGN but i'm a bigger fan of James. He didnt create the nerd until like most recently compared to his love of directing and acting which is his whole life. Dont just accept him for AVGN, accept him for being James. :)

  • @babyale760 yeah. i know that. just pointing out what others do to make sure everyone gets seperated content as they like it. perhaps you know "vsauce" which used to be random amazing stuff + riddles. at one point they splitted it up into seperate channels. oh well :) doesn't matter really. not like it seems that he is doing it for the youtube money anyway so it's his choice wether to make sure more people are happy with the way he delivers content :P

  • @TaoriUTS i understand about seperating the videos to specific channels but some youtubers go over the top and gets annoying after a while to keep up. lol i love that James does it all in one channel it makes it a surprise when you see in your subscription box. :)

  • @babyale760 yeah. some really go way over the top. luckily i still enjoy the opportunity to skip on things i am not interested in. if i wouldnt filter i'd spend too much time on youtube :D

anyway. have a nice evening and nice dance video of yours there. at least in case you're one of them :)

  • @TaoriUTS true same here lol

i didnt know you were watching my vids but thanx lol :D<3

  • @babyale760 I just witnessed something beautiful. A youtube discussion that didn't end up in cussing and hate...

I'm proud of you guys. :)

  • @babyale760

Stop saying James so much :P

  • @babyale760 Best summation I've heard yet!

  • @babyale760 ...James what? I can't find his last name xD

  • @UltimasIsland Rolfe

  • @babyale760 Oh, lol

  • It's time to watch monster movies and chew bublegum.

  • hey james can u make a video for the new the Thing

  • ive always hated the newer monster movies, ya there pretty scary but they suck compared to the older stuff

  • 02:10

    Lol! :D

  • wow very nice collection James !

  • It's time to watch horror movies and chew bubble gum....and I'm all outta gum.

  • awesome!

  • @GhOsTxsTrIkeR People will be wondering in hundreds of years "why we relied on physical mediums to play videos when we can just command our hands to project a movie?" lol

  • @ThePeoplesGamingSite Jack Thompson had a shitty childhood full of shitty parents in a conservative liberal uptight world which had a piss pocket full of lies.

  • @Ketorulz ~ LOL, i couldn't say it any better.

  • 2:14 That was the "attractive girl found" scream. lol

  • aaah! Ewww! rarw XD

  • DVDs suck!! VHS Ftw!!

  • @FriedOnFormaldehyde Laserdisc beats BOTH of them!

  • And Superman saw the Wonder Woman naked erotically in the sofa in doggy position, he though quick..... and Fuck her in 1 second, then Invincible man says to Wonder Woman, "Why my ass is hurting?"

  • "The Universal Studio Monsters Classic Collection - for those, who also have Baaaalls of Steeeel."

  • HAHAHAHA! Awesome Fixing system for your shelves @ 0:00

  • This was a good memory from childhood. My grandfather loved many of these films when he was a kid, so he bought a lot and we'd watch them when I was a kid. Of course we'd run into a real stinker every once in awhile.

  • pretty cool to see this actually. make me wanna break out the ol vhs player and watch something.

  • 1:46 VINTAGE JAMES!

  • 2:16

  • You must live in a warehouse or something, where do you get so much space to keep all this stuff? :)

  • Comment removed

  • It saddens me that a lot of people living today never experienced VHS tapes.

  • @MadamFoogie

Yeah I know. Back then you didn't really know what you were in for when you put them in. Special Features actually had a level of mystery about them as something you'd see before or after the film, the sound was sometimes better, and we had more than just trailers. DVDs are good if you want more audio options, special features, and better image quality, but it saddened me to see them die out in favor of DVDs. I hope Blu-ray won't make DVDs die out too.

  • That is how you do cover art. Simple, classy, and uncluttered. Are those paintings? They really do look great!

  • What I missed like 4 videos in the past few days!!!! good thing I just checked your channel randomly =D

  • guys to see what majtymicke said just go to see all comments and hit alt+F type in his name and hit next or previous to scroll through all posts and replies from said name =)

  • Dracula's Daughter is an awesome movie, vastly underrated. Sure it's low budget as hell, but I've never seen a female vampire played quite like Gloria Holden's. A must see for vampire fans.

  • ok why is there three comments that say the same stupid thing which is arrg

    ahh

    rrgh

  • nice collection

  • nice collection

  • All these old monster movies are shit. Nice collection of old shit.

  • @MaicoMoon When you say the old monster movies "are shit," are you saying you don't like the Universal Monsters movies or are you using some slang term to describe how good they are?

I honestly think that the old movies have somewhat more creativity than some of the gore-fest films we have today

  • Is "Twilight" included in this collection, too?

I mean. Edward is a Vampire, right?

and Vampires are monsters ! :P

  • @wero454 Having vampires in the movie doesn't make it a monster movie. Rudolph had elves in it, but that doesn't make it anything like Lord of the Rings. Twilight is just 90210 set in the northwest.

  • I was like James with these except I was much younger than he was at the time. My parents used to bribe me to study harder saying they would reward good grades with a monster movie. I rented them all the time from Blockbuster too. Sadly we kind of got rid of our VHS tapes although I still have maybe two left with Ghost of Frankenstein showing a lot of wear because I watched it so much

  • 2:15

    AHHHHHHHH

    AAAAAAARHHHHH

    RAAGH

  • Are all of these on DVD? Could some one please tell me.

  • I wish I had more of these myself. Most of the Universal monster movies I have were recorded off of TV during Monster-Vision and such. Off the top of my head the only tapes from this collection I have are Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Mummy, Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman, and I THINK Ghost of Frankenstein. I never would've guessed someone out there had ALL of them, and that's awesome.

  • "AAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!"

    "AAAAAAARHHHHHH!!!"

    "RAAAAARRRRRGGHHHH!!!!"

  • "AAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!"

    "AAAAAAARHHHHHH!!!"

    "RAAAAARRRRRGGHHHH!!!!"

  • did frankenstien just meow at the end?

  • wow i just found one of these piled in my basement

  • How much money for all of them?

  • I need the DVD's of these!

  • The ad narrator sounds like Duke Nukem

  • @ChillblaineFilms actually he reminds me of the hobo with the golden voice.

  • @ChillblaineFilms Agree XD

  • @ChillblaineFilms I CAME HERE TO KICK ASS AND WATCH MONSTER MOVIES, AND MY FEET HURT.

  • @ChillblaineFilms Holy shit! He does! Sir, you deserve a thumbs up :D

  • @ChillblaineFilms Hail to the king,baby!

  • @HeadBangerAust theres this really cool place called E-Bay. Its where people sell there used shit to people who want used shit.

  • @BRANDTzilla i already checked ebay dude. they either don't have the tapes period or they don't have the ones i need. and for you're next "snappy" comeback say something less obvious like Amazon.com

  • @HeadBangerAust Thanks for the "snappy" comment advice

  • I used to love when they gave an effort to put purchasing gimmicks at the first of vhs tapes. I remember the Tom Savini Make up books at the beginning of either Friday The 13th Part 6 or 7 and I so wanted them. I bought em on ebay and loved reading how Tom did the effects for some of the movies he did effects on.

  • i went to my local video store and actually asked if he had the Universal Studio Monsters Classic Collection ,it's 2011 so he didn't know WTF i was talking about :P

  • @pinopika No you didn't.

  • @marty13612 its a joke
