  • the MSHA representative did what he thought was best for the safety of every one at the minning sites. sorry if it killed the jobs but he did his best to save lives and nothing further. I would side with that represntative any day

  • @X19992 Wouldn't the workers want what is best for themselves? If the workers can not work they will just die from starvation. Seams to me that these regulations do not protect workers but assault smaller mining operations. Woot for fascism!

  • what you don't understand is that not everything was shown on Discovery, what happened behind the camera, the inspector you are so quick to judge was doing his job that he has 20 yrs of mining (underground and open pit ) experence so he knows what he was talking about he joined M.S.H.A to help the miner not the employer and that is what it is about! or supposed to be about!!!!! When he shut down the mines he helped them with the regs and even gave them info to start up again

  • @pixiezena All this does is kill the competition (on purpose), because it is far easier to regulate a few big companies, rather than thousands of small ones. The big companies even have an office in their headquarters just for the MSHA regulators. It is much easier for a huge company to comply with regulations, and it is much easier for the government to regulate the huge company. A match made in heaven, and you cant join. Lucky these guys were on the gold or they would be gone.

  • I know in China is if you kill your Employees on purpose they Be-head you, maybe we need this in America!

  • It is a well known fact that your kitchen wouldn't stand a chance to pass a federal inspection that a restaurant is supposed to comply with!

    Ass...les!

  • Two words. COMPLIANCE SOFTWARE. A way needs to be found to get it into the hands of these remote small business owners to keep them from getting beaten to death by regulators.

  • Truly maddening to watch this. Saw a similar piece years ago about the ADA requiring a particular business to have wheelchair access even though the type of work they did was not able to be performed by wheelchair-bound workers. P.J. O'Rourke was interviewed in the same piece where he called ADA regulators and the political forces that support them "compassion fascists". If you could find and post that video, I wouldn't mind seeing it again, just to compare it with this one.

  • Unreal. I can't believe my eyes. The older I get, the more respect I have for business owners. After seeing something like this, I have even more respect.

  • Vee vant to see your papers! Papers please! Oservise, vee vill shut you down.

  • You are a retart if you click the dislike button on this one, its showing the truth, the first stages of 1984's George Orwell

  • @alex3st Good Point ! 2+2 is never 5 ! No matter how hard they beat me I won't say it !

  • Funny how alaska crab fishing is extremely dangerous with fatalities every year and yet it is not shut down. Shows how what complete nonsense this "safety" inspection is. Become a productive member of society you fat lazy bureaucrat instead of a disgusting overweight government welfare whore.

  • interesting how the fat, lazy, good for nothing regulator doesn't want his face shown. Bullies are cowards.

With less of this completely idiotic regulation America would be better off and wealthier.

  • Do most people realize that these "regulations" and "permits" are primarily driven by the larger business interests to inhibit entry and competition?

  • My family has a food business that employs over 50 people full time with full benefits.Non Union made in the USA ! We deal with the USDA, FDA, Department of Homeland Security, DOT, OSHA, EPA, US Military, DOR, IRS, Plumbing, Building, Fire, Electrical, and Public safety inspectors, MWRA, City of Boston, Department of Weights and measures, RMV,and much more. The city was going to make us pay 250,000$ to put in an elevator for the 2nd floor offices in case we ever hired a handicapped person.

  • @HotMustard420 You only list 17........ Lucky!!!!!

  • Makes me mad as fuck! seriously..

  • Goddamned bureaucrats leeching productive hard working people.

  • I'm glad these Miners are not running our Nations Nuclear Power Plants... Would be a Melt down everyday!

  • Love reading through these comments, we all want to give our troops the best equipment known to man to make their jobs easier and safer on the battle field. But, yet when it comes to our Employers and work places at home, we only wanna take the most lazy approach to safety and how getting the most money possible instead. I'm glad our Military don't think this way when it comes to building equipment, if they did we would of already lost the wars. Unsafe Employers makes my Health Insurance go up.

  • He should of bought and invested in a Politician, but I would Agree Safety is a good thing, maybe they should practice it better instead of only thinking about money and doing everything half ass.

  • That fat bastard needs a good ole fashioned ASS KICKEN!

  • @KillaCommie4Mommy then we need a bigger police force. The guy is only doing his job, it isn't his fault

  • @Budvb It's people like YOU that are part of the problem... Mind numb sheep who are MORE than willing to be led to slaughter.... Sadly, there's no hope for you.

  • @KillaCommie4Mommy 6500 people die in America in the industrial accidents, that's more people in 1 year then that have died in our Military, in the Wars over the last 10 years.

You should tell those families and children why their parent/parents had to die to give the CEO a bigger pay check, instead of putting in or educating his employee's on safety and being safe.

  • @Budvb bungee jumping, skiing, kayaking, riding a bike,horseback-riding,carnival rides, driving a car, all inherent risk but no ones looking to shut down these recreations-you obviously have a good heart, why not shut these down ? there is not much you would not regulate right? cause even only if it saved one life, would'nt it be worth it? P-leeeese! Why don't you go to china or mexico-- realize your potential. Bon Voyage! Dont forget to write!

    nt it be worth it?

  • @denny Do you have to do those to get your daily bread? So why don't you stop driving your car if you don't like regulation. Or tell the Military to stop wearing Protective Armor.

They're not shutting down these Mines, they are telling them for their safety & for the safety employee's they employ they should fix these things. How hard is it to fix or is Gold/Money more important then their own lives? If safety is so bad why do we put this stuff on our Cars/Air travel?

  • @Budvb youre an idiot.

  • @Budvb

They're grown adults that know what needs to be done for their safety. The employees that work there are fully aware of the dangers involved in mining. The govt getting involved is only making things worse by taking up their valuable time and money. Stop driving cars due to regulation? Would you starve if you don't like the food you're given? You'll eat anything edible, if you're hungry enough.

  • @DraughtOfPeace Is that why some or one of the children last year nearly died cause they didn't filter their water, from the stream they where drinking from? I bet we all foot the bill on that when our insurance premiums go up. I hope Insurance Agencies are not insuring these people, it will just cost me more. Safety is a community effort, sometimes i ponder why we all came together for society? Just maybe to help each other out? So an Agency put in place to help is bad?

  • @DraughtOfPeace I know when I go hunting i'm required to follow certain procedures and training so I don't go around shooting other hunters. Is this a good or bad thing? Or maybe when I fish i'm only allowed certain limits on how many fish i can take or a certain measurement they need to be. So in your mind I should over fish my Local lakes so their is no more fish to eat or so next generation can fish too? Or can I dump poison on my property, & wipe out a water system 4 100yrs?

  • @Budvb It's called personal responsibility and property rights. Of course you'd have to be a complete idiot if you shoot other hunters, no gov't agency should be enough to tell you "don't do that!". No man would fish out ALL the fish in the lake to prevent future generations of fish = his disadvantage. Sure you can poison up your property, but when it hits others' property you're violating their personal property rights.

About the lakes, community effort is good, gov't = mismanaged.

  • @kmelfina Do you believe all americans youth and some adults are responsible enough to know better not to shoot at animals when a house or moving vehicles are moving down a busy road. And if my poison is already showing up in your well water isn't it already too late? To make cheap good easier to dump poison in a land fill then take the proper measures to get rid of these Toxins morally. If what you say is True why are Prescriptions Drugs showing up more and more in Water systems?

  • @kmelfina "About the lakes, community effort is good, gov't = mismanaged." We are the Government, it's just those who want to take the easy lazy path in life, wants our Government to give them the right of way. It's up to We the People to run for these positions and set it right if we feel those we have elected are not doing Right by what our communities need. Maybe these Minors should run for Election and tell them they want to build mines with no safety or responsibility for Nature.

  • @Budvb sorry Minor = Miners.[Edited]

  • @Budvb the miners have been doing their work for decades before government officials showed up and think they "know better". If the miners don't know what they're doing, that's on them. Those Prescription Drugs you speak of are already approved by our lovely FDA.

No government official is more responsible on the lives of the people they're supposed to represent, they disconnect and get corrupted with unnecessary power.

  • @kmelfina Because instead of turning in old prescriptions that are unused, end up in Land fills and down the toilet as well. I know i turn in any old prescriptions to my pharmacists to properly dispose of these things, I wonder how many americans don't. It's up to the responsibility of all Individuals in this country and world to do the right thing. Money isn't real but reading on OSHA site, more people die in this country to Work, then those in the War Zone. lol That's strange to me.

  • @kmelfina 90% of the Deaths in my eyes could of been prevented if workers would of been trained to act safely then making more money for the Boss who owns these business's Safety is a Team effort, and if we seek Money over Life or Safety, what happens to this Country? I bet it falls like Rome!

  • @Budvb then that Boss doesn't deserve such workers and is a complete idiot killing off your workforce. IF every company was like that boss there would no way be prosperity. Besides his reputation's ruined, and other companies would have to realize what safety hazards to cover if they want a successful business.

    As for government regulations, they're never accountable to the people. It's not their money they're spending, it's ours. So whatever failure they do, we can't do jack >_<;

  • @kmelfina I agree but do you wish death upon yourself or your family to prove how unsafe and an Idiot of a boss that employs you or your children/family? Or would you want a Responsible individual to stand up and say their unsafe and teach them what needs to be done to make things safer for your family?

  • @Budvb Yes actually. Regulations don't come over night y'know. I'm all for individuals to speak out, but to use the government to do it for them is unheard of since government is a monopoly on laws. Buy 'em and you get privilege over competition and consumers.

  • @kmelfina Sometimes the weak need protection from the Majority because those speaking out like I need protection from our Society. This is why we have a court system and Trials to find the Truth!

  • @Budvb as well as these Agencies!

  • @kmelfina Gold can always be found, but the Life of your children or family members can't be brought back or found the next day? Do we understand yet.

  • @kmelfina The way I think this way, is because I got fired/Let go from a Job that didn't pay much because making money was more important then following safety procedures that i'm sure would of killed me in time. I spoke out about it, and instead of fixing it and educating these individual/young kids, these employers and their biggest customers John Deere, Caterpillar, Mercury Marine, and ect. American Companies, wanted a cheap product/good then do it safely. Is this Right?

  • @Budvb All I know is I will never buy these Companies products ever again!

  • @kmelfina Safety of the Troops is a high priority, but safety of workers is not, it seems here. How can we have Freedom if we can't even protect Life?

  • @Budvb

If you cause damage to something someone else uses, you are obligated to reimburse the affected parties for said damages. How hard is that to understand? There is no necessity to impose draconian inhibitory regulations on business owners for the fear that they might do harm to others around them. The measures of control that you're talking about have been tried and tested, and every country that's adopted them has seen the catastrophic consequences.

  • @DraughtOfPeace can that money bring your Life back after you have left your body? Yes and Educated Public would make a better public, but we are too entertained and lost in evil to learn anymore. Our Journalist don't even educate us anymore, they just tell us how to act and be, and we have created a Majority that has no respect for anyone or anyone's right no more. Even the Educated ppl are destroying us!

  • @Budvb

Your basic argument is that people are too stupid to be given any freedom, and we need a group of enlightened ones to make decisions for us. You should visit a socialist country for once and see what this kind of a philosophy does to its people and the economy. Educated or not, people should be given their choice. If anyone's willing to trade their individual liberty for safety, he deserves neither, and will lose both.

  • @Budvb

Countries like India, North Korea etc. are good examples where you can see what the effects of the govt's micromanaging society can be. If you think the govt ought to have more power, there are plenty of countries where it does. Feel free to move.

  • @DraughtOfPeace Are you sure about that? Why are you telling me to Move this is my Earth too. Our Technology of productivity increases are destroying those countries. Why, because a 100 acres of land that took 5 or 10 people to farm now with our big Tractors and farm equipment it takes only 1 to do a couple 100's of acres so what has or is going to happen when you have 2 million people or 2 billion world wide that don't have jobs? History shows it gets ugly, i hope you like WAR!

  • @DraughtOfPeace Instead of War their is another way, Some call it Love you may call it what you like. But, we have Abundance, more then enough to share, and give us more time to enjoy life together as one big family. Understand? Do things have to change going forward, big time. If not you gonna get a War that will vaporize the eartHEARTh many times over! Good luck to you in your future i wish you the best of luck in your choice.

  • @Budvb

You're a classic example of a liberal- intent matters more to you than outcome, and actual facts and figures have no meaning to you whatsoever. You have the twisted sense of 'equality' and 'fairness' that one would expect from someone who lives in a decadent society that rose to prosperity (upon ideals that most, like you, have forgotten, I might add). America didn't become great by making things 'fair' for everyone.

  • @Budvb

America rose to greatness because it believed in freedom and individual choice- the choice to willingly take certain risks to get returns. Your idea of fairness is removing that right, and the effects of such a policy are clearly seen. We were talking about useless safety measures and you went off on a meaningless rant on stuff that doesn't have anything to do with this.

  • @Budvb

Nevertheless, it gave me an insight into your philosophy- your ideas will thrive in a classroom or a living room discussion, but never in the real world and I find it meaningless to continue.

  • @DraughtOfPeace Then as the Civilizations before us, we may see our same fate. Prideful people always end up destroying ever thing for what they want for themselves instead of working as a Team and doing GOoD for all!

  • @DraughtOfPeace 16 Are you jealous? Are you concerned only about getting ahead? Then your life will be a mess. You will be doing all kinds of evil things. 17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is pure. It also loves peace. It thinks about others. It obeys. It is full of mercy and good fruit. It is fair. It doesn't pretend to be what it is not. 18 Those who make peace should plant peace like a seed. If they do, it will produce a crop of right living.

  • @Budvb Nuremberg defense, we never need more bureaucrats. Cmon man, don't be a bootlicker.

  • Fuck the State. Hate it.

  • It's not a job killer, look at all those wonderful inspectors that have been hired and paid with other people's money. XD

  • end the fed!!

  • Damn this pisses me off.

  • I couldn't actually watch the whole thing. Anger made me move the slider.

  • Same stupid shit that happens in every military inspection. Some idiot who never did the job follows a checklist of shit he has no idea about and gives you hits because those hits make him look like he's a great inspector. Bureaucrats are the worst human beings on the planet.

  • Sounds like TV bullshit to me. Look up 30 CFR 48.25 for yourself.

  • Basically this goverment stooge is saying the miners are idiots and brainless.

  • 1) why didn't the film crew give that guy a jump? 2) How is it that Americans can see this and go on about their business? Support guys like Obama, Romney, or Gingrich? IF YOU WANT CHANGE YOU MUST DOOOOOOOO SOMETHING! Yes, that involves moving off of your ass and doing something. Running for office (yes, you), interacting with your community (yes, you), Learning about liberty and freedom (yes, you), and VOTING! Not for Republicans or Democrats but for people who support liberty and freedom.

  • "They can fall on the ground and hurt themselves"

    HOW IS THAT A VIOLATION?!!!

  • Haha, this is hilarious. What a ridiculous world we live in.

  • Comment removed

  • This is the best video you've posted in a while now

  • Is that inspector secretly Michael Moore here to shut down all business and production?

  • If there weren't any cameras around, these inspectors would tread more lightly. In an Alaskan mine you could easily hide an suv and a body.

  • That fat fuck proble has never worked a hard day in his life.

  • So they don't do shit to huge mining corporations who lie and kill their workers, but shut down family business over minor safety regs? Bullshit!

  • @JonathanDP81 That exactly why regulations exist. The big mines don't want the competition from the smaller miners so they go to gov't and get them to pass laws making it harder for the little guy to break into the industry. The same goes for any regulation in any industry. It's called corporate protectionism and welfarism. Corporations use gov't power to crush their competitors to become a monopoly instead of providing the best product at the best price to the consumer.

  • And they wonder y we have 10% unemployment.

  • @Shawnpd72

Actually the unemployment rate is more around 17%.

  • Comment removed

  • I truly despise our federal government.

  • This is what America has come to. Bullshit!

  • Get mad. Vote Ron Paul.

  • You yanks need to start pushing for a full economic cessation from the Federal government.

You can keep the army, and security forces federal, but all these regulations can be thrown in the bin and handled on a local level.

  • @LibertyDownUnder Don't call us 'yanks'

  • Don't have the player, hate the game. That person is just doing his job, can you really blame him? What about the congressmen who made those laws and regulations.

  • @Mezey5 true words, really

  • @Mezey5 Get another job. I would sooner starve than prostitute myself to tyranny. I have absolutely no sympathy for the tools of tyranny just "doing their jobs". They are ALL just doing their jobs. When the time comes, they'll merit the same as the rest.

  • Notice the fat bureaucrat said he HAD to find violations. He can't eat unless he fines others and steal's their wealth.

  • Next thing - they will force those boys to form a union...

    Fuckhead marxist scumbags!

They should tar and feather his fat ass - just what tea partiers did to the king's minion...

  • kiss the ring

  • the answer to this episode is Ron Paul

  • Only institution in the world known to exterminate whole tribes of other peoples, of the Native American people = your US Governement

  • @alex3st What about the Spanish?

  • Talk about greedy bitches they want all the profit themselves, and no one can have even the smallest possible piece of it , be glad you're not living in the 3rd world and some btch ass warlord controlled by the CIA isnt deciding that you and your family shouldt live to see tommorow, and the females should be raped, breasts cut off and then killed through torture. Yea gotta love that US Gov of yours, which is a plague to everyone, incl u so far ignorant americans glad u joined the show

  • Problem for big business: all the samll companies minig up 2%-3% total world yearly output of gold, gold that big business have inflated and over infalted, Solution call in their gov lap dogs to shut em all down. Write all you want to your gov, but until you pick up the sword they will still OWN you and act like it.

  • Thats the problem with inspectors. They come with the mindset of finding problems, and if you are looking for something wrong, you are going to find it. Whether there is something actually wrong or not.

  • Another reason government should be small not huge. You think gov. officials are going to give up jobs like these? Of course not. The more they get to regulate, the more taxmoney they can claim to need, and spend on themselves (gov. jobs)

  • This is bullshit. I'm not even american and I'm pissed off.

  • Just the big government screwing and bullying people around. Move on, nothing to see here.

  • this makes me think of what these so called "conservatives" running for president in the GOP would do to dissolve these government terrorist groups. With the exception of Ron Paul, probably nothing

  • Comment removed

  • Eastern Communism forces people into work. Western Communism forces people out of work.

  • @Hayleyfire929 Either way they remain in poverty.

  • That fat bastard looks like he would take a bribe.

  • DMCA'D!

  • This is why we have a widening gap between the rich and poor, these guys are just trying to have some income mobility and BAM! here is another regulation to take away whatever income you almost just made. Then these fucking liberals have the balls to say they are fighting for the middle class.

  • Why is this even a Federal Issue? Should be left up to the state! If anything, small mines should have less red tape and rules than a big mine operation. "Hey Teachers, leave those kids alone!"

  • 10th Amendment. End of discussion.

  • Heart breaking madness

  • Vote for RON PAUL for president 2012, to stop this insanity!

  • What's the fear? That the guys who work in the mine don't have their own safety in mind? Just let everyone pay for their own health and let them take their own risks.

  • "But but we need more regulations" - brain dead liberal.

  • When China forcloses, they won't be bothered by Federal regulators.

  • We do not own our property in America. Nor do we own our labor. We do not own our children. This is not the land of the free. We are enslaved.

  • "We're law enforcement. I have to find violations and I have to cite them." Meaning, "If I don't find something wrong or we don't come up with a HUGE list of shit to inspect I will not have my cushy government job."

Government doesn't serve the people, it serves itself and those who need to suck on the government tit whether it be for a welfare system or for a "job".

  • While the rest of the world passes us by . . . .

  • It defies logic yet again. It seems like if you haven't made it into the 1% club by now, too bad the door is now closed.

  • It takes a commendable amount of restraint for that inspector to make it back home.

  • MSHAW inspector should be inspected for his own health regulations. He's over weight and his dress code is appalling (clothes is too tight).

  • Fred sums it up pretty well right at the end, from 11:09-12:09.

  • Michael Moore is everywhere at once

  • Regulation is just another way government mines for revenue in the pockets of the productive.

  • the government wanting their cut

  • you can always tell who the government bureaucrats are. They're the ones who having never worked in their lives, and being gluttonous criminal swine, usually weigh over 400 lbs. When he has a coronary, you will be paying for his health care and people will call him a hero at his funeral.

  • I'm from the government and I'm here to help

  • This such a disgrace. Regulators are needed but this is a clear abuse of regulatory power.

If people willingly consent to working there, with the incredibly dangeous 20° slope, then no one should have the right to tell them otherwise.

  • I'm pissed too. I'm speechless! What does the government know about mining anyway?!!!

  • Words you never want to hear. "I'm from the government and i'm here to help."

  • Big Government Crushes small buisness

  • Is this the America, the land of freedom and liberty... What a joke... God Bless Dr. Ron Paul

  • Alaska's really beautiful

  • Haha, gold mine inspector: Completely useless "government job".

  • Bunch of B. S. Ron Paul 2012!

  • Why are the inspectors all so fat?

  • @MrGreeneggsnham Because they don't do any real work... lol

  • @MrGreeneggsnham Those who can...do... those who cant, eat and complain about how others do it...

  • gahhhh just goes to show regulation has no place anywhere

  • So put up a gate and start mining!

  • I have seen the police keeping us safe by pepper spraying peaceful protests. Jefferson foresaw this.

  • The inspector produces nothing and is fat as fuck! I wonder who is making him fat?

  • RON PAUL 2012 TO END THIS TYPE OF BULLSHIT!

  • I felt the same way in CA last year. I run roadside cherry stands. The county ag , state health, city police, and state Caltrans took their turns shutting us down. 7 people no jobs and I ended up with a fine to wipe out the little I made. I feel for all with Gout who wait for relief from cheap fruit we grow in our former great state. Pity our children for the inheritance we have left.

  • lol, you have to think that the place got a lot less safe when that fat ass government fool came on the seen. he doesn't look to sure on this feet...

god takes care of fools and children, government now sees itself as god, so...

  • I ran a store a while back. One day a government inspector comes in to inspect the premises. He hands us a list of $50K of changes we must make. 3 months later, a different inspector comes in doing the same job, who gives us another 50K list. 3 months after that, yet another inspector gives us another 50K list. And then a forth inspector comes in with to give us another 50K list. None of them knew anything about the others, they were all different agencies. And their lists were pure bullshit.

  • good looks liberty pen on grabbing this clip I saw the preview and immediately thought of you guy and John Stossel lol

  • what I see here is the government coming up on private property, and messing with these guys over nothing at all.

we aren't talking about underground mining here, so simply falling off a piece of equipment, or down an embankment is like slipping on the side walk.

you can't make fools safe, but you can abuse the power that government wields.

this is all about fines, that's all.

you have to think that after 23 year, the big nugget is getting fucked with because they chose to be on this show.

  • The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

  • @Panpiper but mostly tyrants

  • Government = legal organized crime.

  • This is what is wrong with the US. F****** Government. 23 years mining and they put a new rule in place telling those men they need to do it their way. it makes you sick. There is nothing wrong with safety training, but there has to be common sense. 23 years and not a single accident........Who should be training who. You can't fix stupid.

  • What's this fat fuck enforcing those rules for? So he can buy another meal at KFC?

  • As always, these well intentioned rules and regulations end up destroying not just jobs, as the name of the clip implies, but also destroying the lives of hard working people trying their best to make their way in this world.

I can't see how this will ever change unless something radical happens. The US needs to find its roots again if it is to avoid collapse. I'm thankful to the people that make these shows as well as to LibertyPen for bringing awareness to the rest of us.

  • @DanWithACunningPlan It will never change. This is the bureaucracy. It only ever grows and gets more intrusive. The statists 'like' their rules and regulations, it more than anything is what gives them their power, as we plebes must then supplicate ourselves to them, begging their permission and paying their graft (licenses, etc.) at every step.

Myself, I've already gone Atlas Shrugged on these assholes. It is effectively suicide, but I'd rather death than their slavery.

  • @Panpiper I agree with you. That's why I mean that something radical needs to happen. When states get too big they have to be taken down by revolution. All I would want is for it to occur as soon as possible and as peacefully as possible, but perhaps that's hoping too much?

  • Fuck this. Seriously, whether a mine is deemed "safe" by some official in Washingtons standard. The government is so out of touch with the populace that they no longer have the rule of the governed.

  • @metzger90 more importantly, who would care more if the mine is safe, the miners, or some Washington bureaucratic

  • State Steal Everything !!!!!!!!!

  • This was sad as hell.

  • Oh... and unionised scum....

Nobody should have to allow these shitheads on their own private property.

  • @DackIsBack Yes, you are probably right. The inspector very likely was in a union, probably really happy about his job putting to screws to all those evil capitalists.

  • F*cking Bureaucrats...

  • Total crap... The government suks.
