Why am I here? Long story short, my wife kidnapped my daughter. Went back to Japan, sying she was visiting family, then IMed me online telling me to forget about them, that she'd raise "her" daughter alone. So I dropped everything and came here to raise my daughter.

Sell them? Yeah, I used to through an old website of mine, but now I do through a few shops around here.

I also make reeded woodwinds, stringed and percussion instruments as well.

Southern, eh? Grew up around some, but from NE.

Gotta love good old hollow bamboo... it grows all over the place here, in Japan - only had to knock out a couple of the thin plant walls between sections with a piece of PVC pipe with the end cut at a 45 degree angle... from there, it was just a matter of drilling holes into the sides.

Well, this here is bamboo, which is actually classified as a grass. You can find bamboo in stores like Pier 1 (actually, I think that entire company may have been bought out by another called something like, "World Traders", or something like that).

Failing that, you can always use various sizes and lengths of PVC pipe - that's whhat many of us use to make practice projects on, as it can be exceedingly cheap - even production models from this are very good - the sound quality's like *GLASS*.

Yeah, I can play it for about 10-15 minutes at a time before I get more than just a mite light-headed haha!

If anyone's interested, you can make one out of any tube closed at one end - see that the length equals about 28 bore diameters long, have the mouth hole be one bore diameter away from the closed end, and half that diameter in itself.

Find fingerhole places by dividing 13526.5 by the frequency number for each note, half that, and that's how many inches from the open end.

Try it out!

Oh, the bamboo can get a lot wider around the circumference, believe me. I've seen some bamboo out here in Japan that was wide enough to stick my big fat head into.... it's freakin' wild, I tellsya.
