  • I dedicate this song to our romanian dictatorial president... Basescu (which is far worst than Ceausescu was before). When we, the people, we'll catch you, we'll hang upside down, like italians did to Mussolini, together with your mistress Udrea and your dwarf toy, the so called "prime minister", Boc! If you are romanian, thumbs up!

  • I would love to hear this covered by Nick Cave. I think that would sound amazing.

  • "Gathering of the tribe" is the name of a compilation lp this song is on. There's no such Macabre song.

  • One of my favorites ever

  • Great Stuff!

  • does anyone have this song? if so please give us a rapidshare link

  • it would be so cool to find this 7'', and i guess its very expensive of course. a real collectors object

  • Here's the straight story:

"Be Forewarned" b/w "Lazy Lady" was recorded at Affiliated Studios aka The Fireplace.

    Engineer: Mitch Corday

    Producer: Philip Knudson

    Recording date: 06JULY1972

1000 singles pressed with the band name mis-spelled MACBRE

500 re-pressings with correct spelling MACABRE

The name was only temporary anyway...PENTAGRAM was the name the band would go on to perform and record under until 1979.

This basic line-up would remain together (with exceptions) till 1976.

  • macabre is a grind metal band now that sings about serial killers actually doing a whole album about Dahmer

  • Oh... my....

  • delicous.. not quiet the same without richie jackson doing his thing to this legendary tune though.

  • is that song on the sampler shown? what`s it`s name?

  • This is by Pentagram, not Macabre.

  • @Ethan13666 dude Pentagram was called Macabre for a short period during the early 70's

  • @Ozzypossumisback

I didn't realize that six months ago.

  • @Ethan13666 it's all good bro, just thought I'd let you know just in case you didn't

  • Sounds cool! Are there any CDs that have the original Macabre versions of Be Forewarned and Lazy Lady on? There's a Pentagram compilation called First Daze Here, but that may well contain the butchered Pentagam versions.

  • if you're lookin for Macabre media you'll most likely find a very rare 7". But First Daze Here and First Daze Here two are very good compilations that contain two different version of "Be Fowarned" but they sound very similar to this version

  • awesome aewsome awesome :)

  • gotta love this freaking good music

    Bobby Liebling is the man

  • According to most sources they recorded this one single under the name macabre, then changed their name to pentagram, then re-recorded it,which imo was far inferior!

  • does anyone know where to find Macabre - Gathering Of The Tribe. This is turning out to be the hardest song to find. Can someone please help me out.

  • this song is listed as "gathering of the tribes" on quite a few comps,so i`m thinkin that song doesn`t actually exist! they only released one single under this name,"lazy lady" was on the b side.

  • I'm looking for it too.. If I find anything I'll tell you.

And to thepowderedclouds, I do think there is a possibility it exists because I read it in a magazine and am now very interested, but of course it's always possible the magazine made a mistake.

  • @begbie791 Haha That's hilarious! this is that very song my friend...renamed of course, drop B in the 60's! timeless, some say they're from nevereverland!.......captain hook is definetlie the drummer I know that for a fact.

  • @begbie791

I've never heard the group before today, so I'm not coming from a position of knowledge, but there's a psychedelic compilation called "Gathering of the Tribe" (there's three volumes, I think). Could it be that the name is not the song but the name of the compilation?

I know this song in this video because it's been on some psych compilations but no mention has ever been made that it's an incarnation of a better-known band.

  • My favorite song in the world.

  • the best sinister song of ever

  • Richie Jackson...

  • @roposkater Haha yeaaah, thats were i got this song from

  • This song just makes me think Devils Rejects or something with serial killing. The intro is the creepiest thing I have ever heard.

  • ive had this song in my head for awile now..i might go buy a drum set and start playing again just to play this song

  • That's gotta be one of the best compliments I've heard in a long time. +1

  • Awesome.

  • There were vocal tracks re-recorded & over dubbed solo for the "First Daze Here" release

  • I'd never heard this version before today. I always thought the version on "First Daze Here" was the '72 single release.

  • started out as pentagram , then changed there name a few times in the 70s. later on bobby joined another band and was "forced" to name that band pentagram aswell.

  • Australian film-maker Andrew Merrigan made a strange little Star-Wars video clip to this song in 2004; but I can't seem to find it on the web anywhere. It's a ripper.

  • please let us know if you find anything

  • Yep, it's definitely Bobby Liebling singing.

  • Good call, I checked into it, you're right, they released this first single along with another of my favorite songs "Lazy Lady" as Macabre, still think it was in '72. learn something new everyday. Thanks.

  • Great track, but not Macabre.... Pentagram 1972 & Macabre was formed in 1985, not the 60's.

  • fantastic vintage but very modern song!

  • Bloody hell this is good, must be rare as I haven't heard it! 5*****
