  • The Japanese were honorable people they surrendered and didn't start up gurellia fighting they listened and accepted their fate cause they have honor actually they were surprised at the treatment they received at the signing of surrender,it is said Hirohito broke down into tears when he found out that the allies treated them with respect and not like slaves

  • @BasqueNYC

Amazing post!! Thank you for that. The Japanese are amazing people, but monstrous in the past.

  • The wars in Vietnam and Korea while certainly wars were also battles in the Cold War. The former was a battle that the USA did not win and the latter was fought to draw. However, there is no doubt that the USA and its allies won the Cold War. Thus the war in Iraq and Afghanistan cannot be looked at in isolation but only terms of the larger war against Islamic extremism.

  • A great moment in world history!

  • @StudioGuttierrez

The Victory Disease can only take a cocky and arrogant nation such as Japan so far.

    This was the result.

  • this is why you should never be cocky and fuck with much bigger opponent! probably thousand years of undefeated history made them so... but still stupid as hell

  • @StudioGuttierrez japan didnt really want to get involved with america, but japan feared that america was making a move on the empire, so they reacted first. when america stoped giving japan oil, japan feared an attack may come next. america wanted japan to react, to give the us a reason to join the war, they didnt care if japan bombed america. in my opinion, america knew japan was going to attack, they probably even knew they were gong to attack hawaii, but didnt do anything about it

  • Not fair...japan just sank a harbor and was literally winning the war but the little fags of US didnt accepted so they with an idea of stealing bombs from germany thats stupid

  • @BIOHAZZARDPR1995 Are you on drugs? US forces defeated J Army & Navy in every battle in the last 2 years of the war & destroyed 40% of Js 60 largest cities. It took 2 A bombs to convince 'god/man' hirohito to admit defeat

  • Undoubtly one of America's proudest moments! A very humbling time for Japan! Japan at that time was very different. They were a warring culture. Surrender was considered an act of cowardace. It was unhonorable. But after 2 nuclear bombs, they were forced to accept defeat and swallow that bitter pill. After our victory, people were literally dancing in the streets, celebrating, rejoicing. Church bells rang, car horns honked, fireworks were set off. American flags were waved & displayed everywhere.

  • @Timbrock1000 ww2 was the only war america truely ever won. but you have to give the japanese some props, they took a nuke and still fought to the end, i think they were badass

  • @juki0h They did not fight to the end. There were still 200.000 soldiers in Tokyo but even so they decided to surrender.

And the US won every war they fought with the exception of Vietnam.

  • @temisdisciple the us lost vietnam and every other war after ww2, learn some history

  • @juki0h wrong iraq and afghanistan are successful for USA

  • @gumbeet for the corporations, for the united states, hell no! for the people, hell no! for afganistan and iraq, hell no!

  • @juki0h lol do you know any history or common sense? Korea was somewhat a Victory as the mission was to protect South Korea from the communist North and that was done even though we almost toppled the North the US got too close to China and they pushed back thus leaving the current border. Vietnam was not a loss, the US was completely destroying North Vietnam/Vietcong but the anti-war movement and media coverage of the carnage put too much pressure on the government and forces us to leave early

  • @juki0h Iraq is so far a success, we toppled Saddam's regime and installed a democracy even though it took longer than anticipated mainly because al-Qaeda made it the central battlefield in the "war on terror" and they got spanked. We left because the Iraqi government pretty much told us to leave. Afghanistan is still on going but mainly trying to root out the remaining Taliban or get some type of peace. So please read up on the facts before posting, thanks

  • @DarkLordGreg88 so people were bombing people less when saddam was there lol

  • Japan made the US go into the war and then was humiliatingly defeated. US won the war because they had the best technology. Simple as that. There were still 200.000 japanese soldiers in Tokyo. Proceding without the bombs would result in a much higher body count. If Japan could they would have thrown a thousand nuclear bombs on US soil.

  • @temisdisciple The US did not win the war against Japan because of "best" technology. In terms of the navy and airforce, Japan actually had superior technology compared to their Western counterparts, even the US. The Japanese Zero is a perfect example as it has remarkable achievements of getting 12 to 1 kill ratios against enemies in dogfights. It was actually Japan's severely limited industrial strength and resources that lost them the war. The US outproduced/overwhelmed Japan.

  • @Ravensteinzh I was talking about nuclear weapons. They were the US "best technology".

  • @Ravensteinzh In 1941 the Zero was the best fighter in the world. By 1943, the Hellcat, the Corsair, the Mustang and the Thunderbolt were all far superior. 6/44 Battle of the Philippine Sea: aka "the Marianas Turkey Shoot"

  • @Ravensteinzh What technology are you referring too? For example, US ships had radar early on, even late in the war that was rare for the IJN. They simply didn't have the capability to build a plane like the B-29. The remote turrets for example were beyond their means in that day. The big Zero kills were early in the war. A skilled Zero pilot versus an unskilled pilot in a Brewster Buffalo. Once allied pilots got expereince & newer aircraft the roles reversed. Yes they were out produced also.

  • @GoldComet6 The several lack of materials and resources as well as overstretched forces limited Japan's ability to keep their technological edge.

  • @Ravensteinzh Okay.....I'd need more specifics on the TEs you're referring too. They certainly had some fine equipment early & later in the war, but I just don't see where the TE is. I just leave it at that. :)

  • @GoldComet6 The A6Md its capabilities weren't really reversed", the Allies just managed to engage it on equal terms after getting newer hardware. The A6M, G3M and other aircrafts, Japanese aircraft carriers and battleships (superior to anything anyone else had at the time, especially Shokaku and Yamato-class) were all either prevented from receiving competitive upgrades, proper protection, or reaching effectiveness because Japan did not have the capacities to keep fueling the war.

  • @Ravensteinzh Yamato was just a bigger conventional battleship - not more advanced. Zero gave up a lot for range & turning ability. But it wasn't more technologically advanced than an F4F. Later in the war the A6M was outclassed - the Ki-44, Ki-61 and esp the Ki-84 were better overall aircraft. Better US pilots was the key - the aircraft were the same. Once weaknesses of A6M were learned it was beaten by pilots in P-40s & F4Fs. Think Thatch Weave.

  • @Ravensteinzh You say the IJN ships/aircraft are better - but not what the TE is. G3/A6M are similar to B-25/P-40 - built with same methods & tech. US carriers were equal in protection, had better fire supression & had similar speed & # of aircraft carried. Still don't see the TE you say is there. I would agree that Germany had a TE – its rocket aircraft, swept wing designs, jet engines & V1/V2 rockets were technology that US later copied. Germany gave some tech to Japan - like J8M & Ki-201.

  • @temisdisciple america eased japan into war by stopping the oil shipments to japan

  • @juki0h Because Japan invaded China and was promoting an oriental holocaust there. The atrocities the japanese commited against the chinese are often forgotten, but they were so hideous that in Tokyo you could find lampshades made of chinese skin for sale. Read some serious books/articles about the japanese invasion of China and you will see.

  • turkey is a growing force

  • Of course the war is over.

Who wouldnt surrender when a country get nuked.

  • MOTHERFUCKER US DUMB FUCKS

  • shud hav been 10 nuclear bombs

  • @sagrocket that wouls have sank Japan the bottom.of the Pacific. lol

  • @KillerTactics23 they deserve it....those heartless slaughtering fags

  • Stop saying "Japs" you hicks

  • If they had of left my uncle alone, we would have taken the world except for Isreal. But thanks to a bunch of LIBERAL NIMRODS you get what you have today.

  • @Sparky5459 your uncle was gen. MacArthur?

  • Great and important day. It was a big victory of white country! Japs are a very intelligent nation, they dominate in modern technologies and industry but the whites have created all modern science and technology! Japs came for prepared dinner...

  • When people were actually honorable.

  • France in here is just a joke. all ppl know how they fucked up in WW2

  • i know millions of ppl on this day probly had a party

  • Wow the Japs earned and deserved both atom bombs and they new it. They were the hardest enemy we ever faced and because of those facts they are now one of our greatest allies

  • @trull122 The nukes weren't necessary any more for the Japs were already beaten and sought for a honourable way to lay down their arms. But i think after spending so much money on the nukes Truman was compelled to drop the bombs.Afterwards he bitterly regretted it and refused to do it again during the Korea war although the situation in Korea was temporarily much worse than in ww2.He even fired MacArthur who was keen to drop the nukes on the Chinese!

  • @Ahornblatt2000 The Japanese were not beaten, they never sought a way to lay down their arms, even the peacemakers in Japan incorrectly advised the emperor the US only had 1 atom bomb they thought they could hold out., Truman did not even know about the bomb until after Roosevelt died, we had not strategic need to use the bomb in Korea and the Chinese were our allies against Japan.

  • @trull122 Truman was President, right?Roosevelt the fool was already dead as Truman dropped the nukes.Truman had to decide whether or not to use the bomb.Chinese weren't your ally during the Korea war and MacArthur proposed about 30 targets for atomic bombs. So for me that sound quite strategic. The situation in Korea was much more threating than anthing during ww2.Truman even declared a national emergency as the sole President of the US.Yet he refused to nuke the Commies this time. Why?

  • 6 years before 1.9.1939 war start and 6 years later 2.9.1945 war ends

    how ironic BUT GREAT

  • How come these nips are so short and tiny?

  • World War III coming sooooon

  • @fludklat I couldn't agree more

  • @mahotechTube According to Google Translate, you despise the prosperity of both countries. Fuck you too.

  • @Bjgemini524 sorry,It‘s a trap for Google.

  • what is not shown in this propaganda reel, Mashbir being gay and refusing to shake hands with Kawabe in a most disrespectful manner imgur/pn2G4.jpg

  • @SelfHatingWhite Oh my god, how awful--he refused to shake hands with him? Better start world war III.

  • If this were today, BO would be bowing down and apologizing! Good thing we had strong MEN in those days who didn't know a damm thing about Political Correctness! McArthur actually removed all old Japanese Text books and replaced them with American Text Books teaching them Democracy and they are now better off today because of it! Something we need to do in the Middle east, instead of letting them read the Koran!

  • @JENDALL714 Because of people like you the wars exist today , and you must write quran, maybe someone else should read instead speaking nonsense

  • @JENDALL714 Great insight. With people of your level of shit in your head, we dont need journalists or people who are learning forein cultures. We just have to apply our American standards on them. After the whole world is amurricanized, We have world peace. Jup boy, thats how its done in the "civilized" west.

    sure is.

  • @JENDALL714

you are taking the political enviroment of the worst world war and imposing it on todays enviroment? It is Americans such as yourself that caused this country to fall out of grace.

  • @klothosakajupe your a dip

  • wow so many un countries sign while only 1 from axis which is japan

  • @chinchin4320 Then why does the u.s. have such an economic problem when china does not?

  • @ilovemesomechicken the chineese economy is a buble. 60% of there economy is construction, they just keep building things to keep there GDP numbers up. In reality they are building things that many of the average people can't afford to live in, so they stay empty. They have many "ghost towns" in China where they have very modern buildings with nobody living there. If you remember history the solviet union was one of the fastest growing nations for about 25 years, and we know how that finished

  • May we always remember our fallen.

  • ...peAce...

  • fuck the japs...

  • 66 Years.

  • Battleship you mean...well the people were doing the shooting were they not? The war would have been over quite quickly and easily if it were just the right wing extremists we were fighting

  • America's enemy was not the Japanese people, it was the Japanese right wing who were merely willing to sacrifice their own people for power and pride.

  • @skykid The Japanese people had the power to say no. Every sentient human being did - and does.

  • NIMITZ!

  • I don't know why he's feeling bad. Since it ended the killing of innocent people on both sides, I'd say it was one of the better days. Unless of course, you don't like peace.

  • japs don't recognize their war crimes yet

  • happy VJ day

  • Comment removed

  • @JapanHokkaidoBoy yes i do care

  • if your looking for people who don't want to teach their kids the true history of what happens on World War 2 and rewrites their history books that is , Japan .. many atrocities happened did by the Japs just like the Infamous Unit 731 and The Bataan Death March here in my Home Country The Philippines .. they deserve the atomic bomb ..

  • Maybe someone has already asked this question in the comments section, but why was Emporer Hirohito not present at the signing????

As a side note, there's a clip on youtube of President Obama saying that the Emporer did sign it. Were there two separate signings? Or did the President Obama get it wrong?

  • @mbd1968 Obama was wrong. The emperor wasn't there to save face!!!!

  • cool soviets were there

  • The US could easily wipe the Japs off the face of the planet!

  • 歴史の中で最も悲しい日

  • @2011nan0 私は日本人ではないかもしれないが、私は気の毒に思う

  • Japan was an evil nation until after ww2...read the rape of nanking and you will think different of feeling so bad for them.

  • Japan made a wrong move attacking the united satetes, they should have gone asia for them selves first get russia , backstab germany and then start attacking america lol!! dang imagine if america never interfered; asian countries would have been richer than todays poor fcking economy .. -____-

  • America will soon be chinas bitch all hail mighty canada

  • As inspirational as this film is to us, it must have been much more so for Americans (and people across the globe) who saw it for the first time in movie theatres (Because TV had not yet become available). You'll notice MacArthur has 5 stars on his uniform. This is the highest rank for an officer and can only be achived in wartime. Despite being the man who led us to defeat Japan, the Japanese people adored him. They even had a 9 foot tall bronze statue of him made which still stands in Tokyo.

  • japan never faced up to what they did and still have not .they are a bloody disgrace they even rewrite history books to teach in japans schools .

  • unfortunately, peace never came...

  • @bambambow japan is a ally to the u.s there is peace.

  • @Owl064 yes i know US and Japan are allies but world peace never came.

  • Why does the beginning reminds me of Star Wars... ?

  • All the servicemen, military commanders, and government representatives on that ship saw a rare moment of history in the making. I would have loved to have been on that ship myself on that day...

  • A history teacher once told me that if the US had not dropped the A-bombs and had invaded instead, many more Japanese people would have died from disease, exposure and starvation. The A-bombs were horribly cruel, but maybe fewer Japanese died because it was used.

Pray there is never reason to use another of those horrible things.

  • @donteverlietome Very true - and I can add that if bombs were not dropped Soviets would have invaded Japan (Soviet invasion was set for Aug 23, 1945). If Hirohito surrenders just a few days later Soviets invade Northern and maybe reach central Japan. Estimated 400,000 Japanese would have died or "disappeared" in the gulag. 350,000 Japanese disappeared in Soviet captivity during Russian invasion of China and Korea. And Soviets would have had a permanent say in Japanese future.

  • @donteverlietome Ugh that is sort of irrelevant. What's much more important is the Japs was killing and torturing and raping countless pple everyday in the countrys they colonised, and killing Allied soldiers and torturing Allied PoWs too. Once the Japs choosed to act like that, their own lifes don't matter. So dropping the atom bomb was right cos it saved Good people's lives, nothing to do wif saving Japan's people.

  • I am pleasantly surprised by how clear the images are. I expected it to be considerably fuzzy.

  • I SAY KILL EVERY LAST OE OF THEM

  • "United Newsreel Corporation" was a U.S, Government-funded film enterprise, part of the same effort that gave rise to the postwar Voice of America and the U.S. Information Agency--pretty much an arm of the State Department.

  • A very humbling day for Japan, with MacArthur standing, watching as they signed the peace treaty. Japan at that time was a VERY different culture than today. Surrender they considered to be unhonorable, shamefull. But, after being hit with 2 nuclear bombs, they had to face reality and accept defeat. The decision to drop the bomb was a hard one for the President to make. Many people were killed, however before days before the bombs were dropped, we dumped planeloads of cards warning of an attack.

  • Let that be a lesson...good will always prevail over evil.GOD BLESS AMERICA!TRUTH,JUSTICE !and THE AMERICAN WAY!We are the champions suck it up haters!

  • @wildwildwest1414 Nice comment but the last few words kinda over too much over America, WW2 is not America against the world is all the world goes to war ...... Must respect brave soldiers who risk their lives for their country or being slave by idiots.

  • @trollingdouche Insert response to troll here.

  • @hiawatha444 He dropped it twice so we can rebuild Japan as an Ally so Communist Russia wouldn't turn it into one of their ally's, or communist. There was a reason to bomb twice, Hirohito didn't give up after the first bomb so we attacked them again three days later with another.

  • I was able to go to pearl harbor and see the spot of the signing on the USS Missouri

  • wow im looking at the comenst and some of them are worse then nazis. there still is racism and there will always be!!!!

  • God Bless the USA

these little rice eaters shouldnt have ever fucked with us

  • @trollingdouche you took your chevy to levy but the levy was dry singing

  • @trollingdouche Your empire with fall, the true empire is European Empire.

  • @trollingdouche u are mean what kind of person are you?

  • Japan could have done it too..if they really want revenge they can do it now but they won't because......atom bombs kill innocent peoples..just imagine the one you love most burn in front of you.let's get along...respect the nature and every living being it has created.

  • Is bombing somewhere (with an atom bomb) should be a thing that people are proud of?

  • @ApacheTheAldo

As historian Edward Jablonski stated; "There would have been no Hiroshima and Nagasaki had there not been a Pearl Harbor. "Nuff said.

  • @ReddNekk13 If there was no Hull Note, there was no Pearl Harbor. Enough said.

  • so many nations to beat one..

  • Japan, how is going with radiation leaks these days?

U'd got Hiroshima Nagasaki and now u've got nuclear reactor leaked radiation. Didn't your Toyota or fucking Honda prevent this disaster? :0

  • @vinsmack5 Hail to GE.

  • @onigoroshi442

lol don't blame GE for even worse going situation.

Jap turned down coolant delivery offer from the U.S. If they had been receptive enough to accept the offer,

the situation would not get that much of a trouble.

    How stupid are they.

  • @vinsmack5 Out of curiosity, may I ask were you were raised?

Anyway, any Japanese know that Democratic Party of Japan is a quisling piece of shit.

Just watch how Japanese will persecute the traitors.

  • My neighbor up the street was on the USS Missouri when the Japanese signed the surrender September 2, 1945

  • @rmarzano51 I visited the USS Missouri today at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. It was very historic, and there were lots of tourists.

  • @unclerukus2 Im sure they would have figured out something. But its just a theory, the logic is that the Stalin would rather see everyone of his people dead before surrender, because you know he was balls to the walls crazy, and due to Russias size and population they might have been able to. Key word is "might". But I think what they were getting at was that the West down played Russia because of the Cold War.

  • @unclerukus2 the British have some chip on their shoulder. Yeah they pushed some sand in North Africa, but anyone who studies the War knows that the Eastern front was the Germans main focus and downfall.

The Russians defeated Germany and the Americans Defeated Japan.

    War over. End of story.

  • @unclerukus2 i would take someone mentioning "the war" as the whole of WW2 tard, seeing as im getting so much flak, ill tell you from a british point of view that a lot of brits share.

if it hadnt been for pearl harbour wed have had no help from you in Europe, and before you scoff at that if all of Europe had been invaded USA would have been next on Hitlers agenda.

Put that in your over sized yankee pipes.

  • @Urko2005 The Germans never stood a chance against Russia. Historians today even suggest that Russia could have won the war alone, and may even have defeated the Americans in a non-nuclear confrontation during the early cold war. Under Stalin it was win or die trying.

  • @BroyhillVideo No. The Soviet would never manage too. People like to piss off that US did nothing. Not true. Go and look at what industrial damage USSAF did to Germany. Over fifty percent of factories and oil alone were destroyed by the USSAF. Meaning, that hundreds or even thousands of German tanks, SP, and aircraft never had the chance of being produce. While, the Soviet barely damage five percent of Germany industrial strength. The Soviet also depend on the Allies for food and equipments.

  • Did our leader write Chinese on the document?

  • I like it where they say war is over, lol , we are still paying for it in one way or another from WW2, let alone present conflicts.

  • Fuck yeah US fucking OWNS!!

  • @CapoStatuz yeah you won the war all on yer own (pfffff not)

  • @Urko2005 We won a great deal of the pacific war on our own. While fighting in europe.

  • @Redrum2011 Was only after Pearl Harbour we got a hand in Europe anyway.

  • my dad has a great uncle who is still alive today he was part of the royal navy(british navy and he waso n this ship when this was happening he was on the ship when the japanease signed the peace.

  • "Let us pray that peace, be now restored to the world... And that God will preserve it, always." - General Douglass McArthur, Great American (in the purest sense of the term), and a true patriot of the highest order.

  • @cagnazzo82 Yeah, How's God coming along with that little request? The guy seems a little lazy on important issues, don't you think?

  • @Furtraderrim When you meet Him, ask Him.

  • @SCE2AUX He's gonna have to wait. There's a long list of entities who's responses I'm still waiting on: Santa Claus, the Tooth fairy, pink unicorn fairies on Venus, Zeus, Ra, Allah, Buddha, etc...

  • mcarthur went to west point and created the saying duty honor country go us army

  • As a history teacher and a student of history, it greatly bothers me when people attempt to politicize historical moments such as this one. Who are we, over sixty years later, to second guess the decisions of the men who were there, who had to make the call at the time? Most people today couldn't find Tokyo or most of the countries that signed the surrender document on a map, and that is a fact. Our history is vital, let us not undermine it with reconstructionism and distortion of facts.

  • @smartguy4101

Concur! The problem with the INTERNET is that there are too many nut jobs expressing their vacuous opinions. I would like to ignore them, but then, Hitler was one of those nut jobs who succeeded to commandeer the world...for a time.

  • @smartguy4101 I know right?. This was a great day in history, the end of a bloody war. People can't just appreciate this.

  • They used a WMD to end the war a cowards weapon used against innocent civilians a clear war crime, the same weapon they threatened North Korea with during the Korean war when they lacked the guts to fight. Japanese imperialism defeated and American imperialism created. No glory here!

  • @cultofmao Screw you, commie bastard...it's a simple math formula ...Pearl Harbor = Hiroshima + Nagasaki = Payback's a bitch ! As for you dead , bloated, and totally f*cked up cult figure, piss on em !

  • "And they all lived happily ever after"

  • oh miss spelling *PURPOSELY *

  • how the hell did this turn into a debate over church and state?!

  • nope. but who cares where I was born? In the US most people came from another countries. It is like a country for all races and people in the World. you know, it is not a real country, it is like something different. All people is welcomed if they can remember the national anthem a bit like the latin Ms. Christina Aguilera

  • hey man, you have the same name than me, if Simon is your real second name. I heard it was a Jewish name. Are you born in the US?

  • and don't forget Hannah Montana. She can save the US. Or Christina Aguilera. She forgot a bit the national anthem recently, and even if she is latin, she will fight for the US strongly.

  • also the US Army continues being strong. Is the only industry capable of keep the hope...But trying to making wars around the World in order to save the US economy is not the proper way. It only will make appearing more enemies and it will go to worse...

  • Yeah, the US became an old, lazy, chaotic and dirty country. Soon the Latinos will take the power here and the Chinese in the other side. Relatively the 2 most powerful countries in economy are Japan and Germany. Precisely the 2 countries which lost the WW. South Korea is rising since time ago and India will become powerful too. No good future for the US...At least still the US have own petrol reserves, because till now are being consumed the reserves taken from islam countries and Venezuela.

  • @0820Simon actually it gets worse, the US only has about 3 months of oil in it's reserves at any given time.

  • History is written by the winners. And nowadays finally the Japanese beat the US. My car is a good Toyota and now are hard times for the poor Detroit. If you live in Detroit, run away as soon as possible as many already did !

  • 28 people are Imperial Japanese bitter enders

  • SHAMEFUL AGGRESSIVE IMPERIAL JAPANESE!!

  • @canon888888 "BANZAI!"

  • I wish I was alive during the era in this video. Our country today is a fucking crumbling joke compared to the greatness it once held!!!

  • @sapher2020 Your right, now, its just fucked up.
