If we continue to destroy the haditats of other animals we could destroy a food chain or cause an species to become extinct all together. Stop being selfish and try to support efforts of finding alternative fuel sources.
I am in favor of alternate energy but you see we the need the time the extra fuel will buy us until the 10 years or however long it will take to fire up the nuclear plants and hydrogen cars and whatever else are up.

Please, dont try to pin this on the liberals. The reason why gas prices are soaring is because of a concept called supply and demand. Have you heard of it? When supply exceeds demand prices go up. But the main reason is because of the middle-eastern countries like Saudi Arabia(you know,the country that George Bush just LOVES)who purposefully lower the production of thier oil and the greedy oil companies trying to make a profit.McCain wants to give those greedy oil companies tax-cuts.

We are the most oil dependant country in the world. European countries are decades ahead of us when it comes to alternative fuel technology. Even if we did tap the oil fields in Alaska it would only be a temporary fix and than prices would soar even higher.Just becuase exxon or what have you taps oil reserves in Alaska or elsewhere, doesn't mean they'll just decide to lower their prices.

Our dependance on oil (foriegn or our own) is DETRIMENTAL TO THE ENVIRONMENT. But on the other hand we cant drain the middle east of all its oil. We should start tapping in to our own refineries but in small amounts. Human beings are not the only creatures on this planet. If we continue to destroy the haditats of other animals we could destroy a food chain or cause an species to become extinct all together. Stop being selfish and try to support efforts of finding alternative fuel sources.

I am in favor of alternate energy but you see we the need the time the extra fuel will buy us until the 10 years or however long it will take to fire up the nuclear plants and hydrogen cars and whatever else are up.

The only places we can drill are Alaska and offshore, neither poses any risk to the bloody environment to drill and we would only do it to give us time to get alternative fuels online.
We just need more oil until then not forever and not as the solution. The idea is we get more oil now so gas doesnt stay at 4 dollars a gallon or worse while we get alternative energy working.
The war comment doesn't merit a response.
Well the dems are in control of Congress and their approval is lower than Bush.

Alaska, etc. are part of the enviroment. The war comment holds merit because oil may have been a strong underlying influence for actions taken in the middle east. The dems have not been in control of congress for that long, most definitely not as long as the reps, and it will take some time for them to begin pulling this nation out of the hole Bush has dug. More gas won't solve anything.We could drill and drill and drill and drill...our refineries still can't refine enough fast enough for the demand to do anything about prices.Our dollar is so weak right now that even if we buy more oil prices won't go down. The only way for prices to go down is through people conserving and using less.Hybrids are a start but not enough.Energy needs to be conserved in housing, water, and all forms of production to cut use in all aspects-then the price will go down.

Well it's common sense that we need more refineries when we get more oil. The point is the oil is the easiest thing to use until we are ready to switch to new forms of energy. And trust me we will need the oil because it will be a LONG time until the liberals sell out their nutty environmentalist friends who got us into this restricting EVERY form of alternative energy THEN restricting how much of the energy we have left we can use.
