Nice bike. A few modest bolt ons will REALLY open it up. I have and 07 R6S. I suggest to go with a K&N, Yoshimura RS-3 Slip-on(or if you have the cash, I would go with a full exhuast system, probably Graves Motorsports or GYT-R. Keep in mind, you will also need a Power Commander if you do), and some velocity stacks.

Yeah I still got it, love it got vortex levers, stator cover, rear sets zero gravity double bubble windscreen hotbodies undertail exhaust, pro grips, k&n air filter about 50k miles on the bike and she runs strong i love it! Im a big 600 fan would maybe get a 750 gsxr but Im way content with 600, I think 1k are pointless

While theres nothing stopping u from buying a 600 even 1000, its not for begininers. Your chances on falling from one of these is a lot lot higher than with a ninja 250 which is just easy and fun to ride.
you get a 250, your wasting your money because you will grow out of it fast trust me on that and you will wanna upgrade. take a msf course and get yourself a 600 more than enough power on the streets yet tamable unlike a liter bike, plus the 250 sound like crap small like a scooter and are dogs at speed... yeah you get 70 miles to the gallon but you look like a idiot doing it just like a prius haha

You might want to check on that start without clutch thing. Specifically, if the starter will turn when it's in gear. One of these days you'll start the bike when it's in gear, on it's side stand, and you aren't on it. TIMBER!!!

Just some friendly advice from someone who likes to keep things nice....being that you are a beginning rider, and that is a beautiful bike and you wanna keep it that way, you should reallllly invest in some frame sliders. KR tuned makes some that you don't even have to cut the bodywork for... trust me, they are essential for a new rider with a new bike! good luck with it!

If the 2009 R6S is like my 2008 R6, you actually can't start it in gear even if you pull the clutch. Well, that's if your kickstand is down... safety feature that really comes in nice. I've seen guys wipe out because they don't remember the stand... morons...
oh 4bang3r the reason why you didn't have to pull the clutch when you started it(i'm sure you've figured it out by now), was cause it was in neutral, when it's in neutral you don't need to worry about catchin a gear so it'll fire right up, but if you park in gear you need to clutch it before you start her
i got mine out the door 10.9, two days after it rolled out onto the show floor, that was after i haggled 600 dollars off what they originally wanted to sell it to me for, they wanted 11.5 for it and i literally laughed in their faces

great walkthrough. I'm actually going to pick one up in a month (my first bike). People say go with a 250r or a 500r first, but I don't believe in that. It's all about control and respecting the bike. Anyone can start with a 600 after a MSF course. Anyway good luck, and oh yea usually you gotta pull the clutch to start it just in case the bike jumps forward.
I was riding a Yamaha XT225 dual purpose bike at the time, and those dual purpose bikes are meant to be dropped in the dirt, so they're durable. I ended up having to charge the battery to get it running again. Other than that, I just had to replace the front fender, top fairing (the headlight was fine), right grip, brake lever, turn signals, and grab bar. Oh, and straighten out the forks. The wheel wasn't pointing straight. It was about 240 dollars of parts, but the bike still runs great.
Yeah I had my gear on. Full-face helmet, leather jacket, steel-toed boots, leather gloves, and jeans. My jacket is a little short for me, though, and it lifted up on the side as I slid. I had muscle pain all over for a few days, some nasty bruising on the side I fell on, and a deep raw wound on my side. All this on a 20mph crash. It's crazy, you don't even feel half the stuff when you go down. The paramedics that showed up pointed out to me the oozing wound on my side. I couldn't feel it.
100,000 miles on a bike is possible...if it's a BMW flat twin. Those things last forever. I wouldn't guarantee that on any other brand or engine, though. And, no, I don't own any BMWs at all. I see you're new to riding. I went down during my 2nd season because I thought I knew how to ride. It's the cars you gotta watch out for. They don't care how experienced you are. RIDE LIKE YOU'RE INVISIBLE (BECAUSE YOU ARE). That's the best tip I've ever received, and it's really, really true.

on a street bike u have to use a combination of both b/c u dont want to lock ur front brakes. to be honest itz better to start using ur back brakes more just dont dry stop it u know what i mean. that goes for all bikes. just a tip u should know. b/c thats how bikers do stoppies locking up the front brake. itz hard to explain over the internet but i think u get the point being u have a bike.

If you have the stand donw the bike wont start up in first with out the clutch held in. Its a saftey feature on yamaha bikes. I have the same bike but its an 08 raven. I love have fun rididng man..

Mate its 2008 so how could it be a 2009?its the 03-05 shape hasn't got upside down forks and is the old shape.Even the nice woman at the local yam dealer confirmed this,she used to have one.So what are you saying they still make this shape R6?I have an 02 R6 and they don't make it any more,search 2008 R6 that's the shape that is up to date :)
youtube is being gay so I can't upload, but I took the whole end off (it unbolts from under the seat) then removed the reflector brakets, and the plate brackets, bolt the reflector brackets (smaller side) to the plate bracket, then bolted on the bike(you will have to grind the inside of some of the holes to get it to align right.) I also bought a brake and turn signal intigration kit, and some led plate bolts(wire them in series or the headlight fuse will keep blowing)
Nice bike man i learned to ride on my 04 GSX-R 600 not easy but when you get the hang of it it gets way easy especially when you do some hardcore turns going pretty fast, but dude get your gear asap at least a helmet for now and be careful ive fallen off and everybody that i know that rides has fallen off so always be on the look out for that, get some side guards too you never know a drop in the garage and those scratches wont look good ride safe man!

so i took your advice and went to my local shop and sat on all the bikes. the bikes i thought i looked best on and felt most comfy was the r1 and the busa LOL. thats too much for me right now and the r6s was the next comfy and best looking, thanks for the advice. oh yea i was wondering if you got a fender eliminator?

you dont have to pull in the clutch to start it if you are in neutral, only if you are in gear

well all is not completely lost..ill probbaly buy one outright off of craigslist and it may not be an R6S but it will be 600cc's whatever it is..i just want to ride man lol I keep hearing fly bys of bikes by my place..its making me mad lol Imma get one for sure tho..itll probably be a gixxer r600..which isnt that bad. i just hope that ones easy to learn on too. i see ur friend has a gixxer..how does he likes his?? have u ever rode it?? Isnt his a 750??

Went to the dealership.Turns out i need a co signer lol..i dont know who to get to cosign for me, my mother doesnt like bikes, my pops isnt to happy about them lol is it either that or buy it out right with.The r6s was nice,my first time seating on one and its not too heavy either. The 2009 r6s bike was cheaper than some of the other 600 class 2008 bikes..i was suprised and happy lol Who did u get to cosign for you?? I really love this bike.He told me i didnt realy need to do the MSF course lol

That thing does look sick and it doesnt seem to cost that much like round 9,000..i dont know if i can get a co signer, maybe ill have a better chance of buying out right with cash..i dont know. But i do know i like the way this bike looks..i was thinking about a cbr 600 rr, but this thing is cheaper and looks better..and 9/10 ill probably get an 07 model or 08..it seems the R6S comes in two colors..and i def love the black on black...so whyd u go with this one instead of a ninja 250???

Im really lookin at this bike as my first bike..i dont have any experience whatsoever but im not a speed demon, i will respect my bike..How much was the bike??? and did u bought out right with cash? or did u get financed?? And can i start on this bike as bieng my first bike cause i dont want a lil ass 250 or a 500 or a 650 cause they look ninja,& cause i dont wanna outgrow it in one season especailly the 250...Can i start on this bike im 5'8 and 140 pounds..what do u think???

great walkthrough. I'm actually going to pick one up in a month (my first bike). People say go with a 250r or a 500r first, but I don't believe in that. It's all about control and respecting the bike. Anyone can start with a 600 after a MSF course. Anyway good luck, and oh yea usually you gotta pull the clutch to start it just in case the bike jumps forward.

I was riding a Yamaha XT225 dual purpose bike at the time, and those dual purpose bikes are meant to be dropped in the dirt, so they're durable. I ended up having to charge the battery to get it running again. Other than that, I just had to replace the front fender, top fairing (the headlight was fine), right grip, brake lever, turn signals, and grab bar. Oh, and straighten out the forks. The wheel wasn't pointing straight. It was about 240 dollars of parts, but the bike still runs great.

Yeah I had my gear on. Full-face helmet, leather jacket, steel-toed boots, leather gloves, and jeans. My jacket is a little short for me, though, and it lifted up on the side as I slid. I had muscle pain all over for a few days, some nasty bruising on the side I fell on, and a deep raw wound on my side. All this on a 20mph crash. It's crazy, you don't even feel half the stuff when you go down. The paramedics that showed up pointed out to me the oozing wound on my side. I couldn't feel it.

100,000 miles on a bike is possible...if it's a BMW flat twin. Those things last forever. I wouldn't guarantee that on any other brand or engine, though. And, no, I don't own any BMWs at all. I see you're new to riding. I went down during my 2nd season because I thought I knew how to ride. It's the cars you gotta watch out for. They don't care how experienced you are. RIDE LIKE YOU'RE INVISIBLE (BECAUSE YOU ARE). That's the best tip I've ever received, and it's really, really true.

on a street bike u have to use a combination of both b/c u dont want to lock ur front brakes. to be honest itz better to start using ur back brakes more just dont dry stop it u know what i mean. that goes for all bikes. just a tip u should know. b/c thats how bikers do stoppies locking up the front brake. itz hard to explain over the internet but i think u get the point being u have a bike.

If you have the stand donw the bike wont start up in first with out the clutch held in. Its a saftey feature on yamaha bikes. I have the same bike but its an 08 raven. I love have fun rididng man..

yeah i always put it in N as well but yeah, ps dont rev ur bike until u get that bitch broke in lol you will hurt it :( kepp that shit aroun 6 to maybe 8 thousand RPMS ok!!!!!!! i kept mine 6 u can get up to like 70 in 6th gear and u want to ride like that till 600 miles then go get ur first service then u can ride it how ever the hell u want to.....i know it sucks but treat ur bike well and it will last longer....

hey bro so ill just comment this one few things lol one the reason guy was saying turn it on with holding clutch is just incase you had it in 1st gear or something u know and what else ooo when watching the other vid u were like rocking back and forth be careful how u do that lol u want to keep ur body stationary and rock the bike not both, i seen too many ppl fall cuz they went to lean and moved there body too much and or what not and bit it so just watch u body movment lol

Mate its 2008 so how could it be a 2009?its the 03-05 shape hasn't got upside down forks and is the old shape.Even the nice woman at the local yam dealer confirmed this,she used to have one.So what are you saying they still make this shape R6?I have an 02 R6 and they don't make it any more,search 2008 R6 that's the shape that is up to date :)

youtube is being gay so I can't upload, but I took the whole end off (it unbolts from under the seat) then removed the reflector brakets, and the plate brackets, bolt the reflector brackets (smaller side) to the plate bracket, then bolted on the bike(you will have to grind the inside of some of the holes to get it to align right.) I also bought a brake and turn signal intigration kit, and some led plate bolts(wire them in series or the headlight fuse will keep blowing)

Nice bike man i learned to ride on my 04 GSX-R 600 not easy but when you get the hang of it it gets way easy especially when you do some hardcore turns going pretty fast, but dude get your gear asap at least a helmet for now and be careful ive fallen off and everybody that i know that rides has fallen off so always be on the look out for that, get some side guards too you never know a drop in the garage and those scratches wont look good ride safe man!
