You are absolutely correct & thanks for catching that error. My mind was focused on a nest box with another kind of bird. If eaglets tried to fly at six weeks, they would hit the ground--
He's a smart little eaglet. He figured out how to get round his two older siblings. They fledge around six weeks of age, so they need to grow fast. They also need to eat. Their feathers will keep growing, even if they don't get enough to eat. However, they will have "hunger stripes" on their feathers. The feathers will be thin in these places, impairing their ability to fly.
I thought it was a typo... I have watched the eagles cams for years.. I almost feel like one.. here is one of my eagle looks.. :> lol...
