  • Izklausās pēc Kombuļu Ineses. ;D

  • Latvians are great ppl. If you think they're drunk alcoholics you must be thinking about russians..

    Greetings from Broliukas LT.

  • gosh I hoped latvian is similar to russian, or sth!!! now theres no chance for me to even try to say something to my latvian friend.. but still thanks for the video! :DD I hope i'll visit Latvia some day! Sveiki!

  • Es par vienu valodu! LATVIEŠU!

  • 34 Russians !

  • Čau nav Latviešu vārds, tas ir cēlies no Itāļīem

"Čau" isnt a Latvian word, its form Italia

  • Bullshit :D

  • No sita suda neko neiemacisies!

  • lol ta var iemacities latviesu valodu and go in google tranater to tranleta this

  • My country :3

  • Greetings from Estonia

  • @Metallicalv you moron nazi. how i hate these stupid nazis, just went to countryside and watch real latvian alcoholics, almost all of them are drunk, but you moron just speak about russians.

  • Love these vids!!! I am an American but my family is from Latvia. I always wanted to learn the language since I also have a names day and other stuff but my grandparents are far to old to teach me... This has helped alot... SVEIKS FROM USA!!!

  • If you want to say a beautiful Latvian girl I love you, then say: "Dod man pist" and after then she will not refuse you.

    Lai jums veicās.

  • @zigiszigis lol... It help me alot!!!!!!

  • @zigiszigis don't lie! Dod man pist means "give me a fuck". zigiszigis is just envy on them who are better than he and could take potentially his future girls ;)

  • @Metallicalv Sounds sweet! Anything important to think about?

  • tāvecene pati nav latviete

  • I might be moving to latvia, is it a nice country?

  • @gottmospahedengubbar if you like hate and negative comments that you're not latvian from nazis, you can move to Latvia. But latvians move to UK and Ireland seeking job, so there is not plenty of chances to make your life easier. And some stupid latvians (there are lot of normal latvians) always say that all problems are russians. It's easier to put your own problem of another people. But these morons don't realize that we all are humans, we all love, we all smile etc.

  • Es priecājos tevi redzēt....

    Uz redzēšanos!

vienkārši var uzreiz redzēt cik otrs ir priecīgs tevi redzēt :D

  • Neslikti.

  • Thank you for your wonderful post. Since I speak Lithuanian, it was a delight to hear Latvian spoken. My guess is that with a few months of practice, I could get along quite well in Latvia. I hope to visit Latvia one day.

  • difficult language...how long does it take to someone to learn the basics?

  • @MultiButterfly91 Basics are simple, You could learn them actually very fast, but If You want to know the whole language, it might be a longer time to learn it. :)

  • Kas par valodu? Stulbums, nē?! es domāju, ka tas ir domāts tējkannām!

  • thanks

  • nice language. i wish i could learn it.

  • in this video 'goodbye' is spelled wrong... it is not attā but atā... only with one t not double t..!!!!

  • This is the first time in my life i hear Latvian language, and im born in Lativa.... :/

  • It's allmost same as lithuanian! I understood ALMOST everything :D

  • @TheWextin

this is only 1 lesson man ! :D

  • @TheWextin we are sworn enemies, because you stole ALMOST all of the words from our language and claimed it for your own puny nation!

  • The word attā

    isnt O:

    it has to be atā.

  • gribu ar autoru satikties dzive lai sim muli izarditu! ;)

  • "Ata" ,tu vista tāda!:D

  • shto eto takoe pacani ? :D :D

  • Lame.

  • wow, this is one of these languages that the world, especially northern america, is barely familiar with. very fascinating..the language and the culture both!

  • daži greizi ,tad jau labāk vārdnīcu vai kaut ko citu.

  • "Atā" raksta ar vienu T! You should write "atā" with only one "t"!

  • @MlleSokolade nē patiesībā raksta ar diviem ''t'' tikai visi pieraduši ar vienu ;)

  • @GrafitiKing158 Interesanta tā Tava "patiesība". Bet nē, nav iespējams. Ja vien vārdā "visi" Tu neiekļauj arī valodniekus.

  • @GrafitiKing158 Interesanta tā Tava "patiesība". Bet nē, nav iespējams. Ja vien vārdā "visi" Tu neiekļauj arī valodniekus.

  • čav aint Latvian word ist ''sveiki"

  • @AndresMAGEdudeOK nafega ti tratish vremya na vsyo eta togda

  • @BATTLEFIELD124 Да так, троллю! ^^

  • @hombrelubinero Wow...atleast we have some people who actually can sing without those voice autotunes...

  • @hombrelubinero Latvians aren't drunk alcoholics! Just because you heard so, doesn't mean, that it is true, you ignorant bastard!

  • @UndeadCrabstick I'm 100 percent Latvian. I grew up around Latvians. Great people but quite a few of them went really over board. They were however some the funniest ppl in the world. I've been to those Latvian get togethers and I can tell you that not all of them are drunks but when they let loose, look out!! svieks

  • ak jeeel

  • What for? Nobody speaks it anyway:)

  • @valentinerikson Everyone i know speaks this language! :D

  • Paldies par darbiņu! Ļoti ceru, ka sīkās kļūdiņas un bļauru bars, kas še saradušies, neatturēs Tevi turpināt iesākto. Lai veicas!

  • @DcupFTW Thanks :D

  • hello,

I have a question. Is there maybe a course or video on youtube with some usefull stuff to learn dutch? So I need Dutch lessons for someone who is native speaking Latvian. Can someone from Latvia maybe help me find this on youtube? Maybe by searching with Latvian words?

    Thank you

  • I want to learn this cause my grandad is latvian!

  • @Ashleyx903 Well tell him - čau opi kā pa dzīvi, = hi grandad whats up :D

  • "attā" rakstās ar pieciem "t" nevis diviem! bļin, nu tak nemāciet cilvēkiem nepareizu valodu!

  • I'm Lithuanian and at first 3 words i thought that you're lithuanian too :D but then i realised that you arent... Lithuanian and latvian languages is kinda simillar,so when i visited in latvia, year before we had a lot of funny stuff hapened to us :DD anyway labdien-labadiena;sveiki-sveiki ;labrit-labasrytas ;labvakar-labasvakaras ;atta-ate its almost the same :DD sooo paldies for first lesson! atta! :D

  • @Moniziable i met few lithuanians over here in Ireland, nice chaps, very friendly and can handle proper amount of vodka, unlike British or locals, goes down after few pints of weak beer (peewater prolly)

    cheerio mate!

  • @raymix1 But that doesn't mean that all lithuanian are the same,if ireland national thing to guys is shirt,i'm not saying that they are gays,if they are blowing into the bags witch looks really stupid i'm not saying that they are freaks or whatever. many peoples many opinions.

  • @Moniziable indeed :)

  • @raymix1 Hehe,it remind me one party in uk.One of my friends had a birthday & we went to bar/restourant,and friend was asking, what i would like to drik? I said, lets start with 100 ml vodka pluss slice or lime... She went to barman & then barman started to staring on me with wide opened eyes.He seemed surprised. Then i started to drink & barmen was watching me for the rest of the evening...

Overall in uk normal shot is 25 ml ! So i made 4 shot in one second :D

    p.s. I`m not bouncing !

  • @502opz346 It is very truth, what you said over here in ireland too.Back in Latvia normal beer pint is around 1L or more, costs around 1 euro. And its for starters.I usually see buddies drink up several pints of those and then topping off with some vodka or browns and bad attitude ofc.Over here you get to see people get drunk off of 2-3 0.3l pints.Guy w/ good body mass you could handle more.

Just to top that off, beer in ireland is pure pee-water with low alcohol %.No offence any Irish here pls

  • @raymix1 to be correct, normal beer of pint in latvia(which is not really pint but 0,5 ml - as a remeber pint was 0,4 ml,if am correct) is 0,5,but most of bars u can order 1L pint. And pint coasts around one & half and up to 2 euros - 0,5 lm.And Latvian beer is not so good anymore as it was before... All of those chemicals goes in in latvian beers nowadays.Tast & quality is almost the same as in uk,like some tuborg or holstet... Like u said pee-water,atleast close enough. And it`s all for money.

  • Yeh Gino97 is a typical russian who hates everything and wants power over everything and everyone.Everything already started long time ago. Latvians wanted to be free from control of them USSR but russians killed a lot of Latvians because of that and from that time and other problems that’s why Latvians hate them so mucc

  • labasrytas latviai, kaip sekas

  • Malacis kas 'so video ustaisija.. cillveki zinas musu valodu :)

  • you should add a '' PIS NAHUJ KROPLI'' !

    Please go away dear friend

  • @DcupFTW

Jā, iedomājies - uzgrūžas kāds anglis latvietim un pasaki - Pis nahuj, kropli!

    :D

  • @Laaciitis68 Bet būtu smieklīgi :D

  • I'm lithuanian and I could understand what latvian speaker is saying but I couldn't speak latvian (without learning). :D

    BEST WISHES FROM LITHUANIA!!

    /////

Aš esu lietuvis ir aš suprasčiau, ką sako latvis, tačiau negalėčiau kalbėti latviškai (nepasimokęs). :D

    LINKĖJIMAI NUO LIETUVOS! :)

  • a beautiful languge..... LOoOOOOOOOOOOOooOOooooooOoOoL

  • Comment removed

  • @Salentino1 I want to help you but you will have to write this word in english OK?

  • does lithuanian has the same pronontiation?)

  • Latvian language is close simmilar to Lithuanian , northen Lithunians (Aukstaiciai) close to Latvian border understand most of theyr languge. I am from South Lithuania ( Dainava/Dzukija) I can read and understand approx. 50% of text in Latvian.

  • "Chau" is lean world.

so you thinks that so latvina language is easy , but if it were taught , to speak, write - shit is. ;D those who living latvia ,think latvian language is easy , but who person learn latvian language don't think it is easy language. :)

  • @luksafors1 im latvian but i dont think its easy its diferent for other countrys to use for ā š č ņ an other charters.

  • @Kamanosad

OMG, copy- past -but who person learn latvian language don't think it is easy language.

  • @luksafors1 did i say it easy i sed im latvian but i dont think its easy... So dont blame me if you think its easy. I didnt say its easy

  • @Kamanosad sorry , but I don't say you are blame it you thinks that latvian language is not easy . ;) and stop stress , all is right .

  • @luksafors1: Actually, I'm Czech and I know Latvian. Learning it was very easy and I enjoyed it a lot. But that's probably because we also have č š ž, our language works in a bit similar way (we also have declensions - locījumi) and I also learned Lithuanian before learning Latvian. It depends a lot on how strong your motivation is. Nu, tas bija angliski, lai visi saprastu, un te ir pāris vārdu latviski, lai pierādītu, ka nemeloju par to latviešu valodas prasmi :-)

  • @luksafors1

WOW! Your english skills totally suck, pal!

  • (Lithuanian Samogitian western Lithuanian zemaiciai ))) ėr vės kelē, vės laukā, gėrės, kėimā ėr miestalē, jog kad dabar bėški jog būtom galiejė privažioutė ar Ringa, ar ėr pati Tieva švėntōji. Ėr kuoki tatā žīgi rēkiejė pakeltė vuo vės par ton bjaurībė gaidi! Jė, jė, nalabās

  • thanks for the vid! I'm thinking about learning latvian for some time now and from what I see it shouldn't be so hard! Though it's different from polish, the pronounciation is similar :) thank God we're in the same Balto-Slavic language group :D

  • im trying to learn it.... so whats the diff bn ....sveiki,,,and ...cau...

  • @NiazA221 Sveiki! is more Latvian than Cau! Cau! is actually borrowed from Italian, though both are widely used. :D In Lithuanian their equivalent of Sveiki! is Sveikas!

  • @JohnyJKLV I think Lithuanian and Latvian languages have some little simmilarity or accent of Finnish language....

  • @verdefull That maybe true about Latvian as Latvian language and nation has some influences from local Finno-Ugrian tribes, the Livs or Livonians who lived mainly nearby the coast of Gulf of Riga of Baltic sea. But I don't think it's the same for Lithuanian because although both Latvian and Lithuanian are sole survivors of Baltic languages (brothers, like Latvians and Lithuanians may call each other :)) we have quite a different history and legacy in languages as a result.

  • @JohnyJKLV there are Western lithuanian samogitian who use danish and latvian dealect....

  • @JohnyJKLV

Khmm. Esw nesaprotu ko saka lietuviesi

I do not understand what lithuanians are saying. Do you do?/

  • @Blinkyboy4U Es mazliet saprotu!

    I can understand many words.

  • @verdefull I must say that Latvian and Lithaunian languge has one origin becouse most of words and sinonymes are very similar or even equal. In other hand Finnish and Estonian languges has some(very few) similar words due to historical and neighbour influence, but they are not related with same origin. And languages are very different.

In ancient time, Latvia was spilited in different dialectic and cultural zones. Kuronians(West), Latgalians(East), Semigalians(South), Liivs(Livonia, North coast)

  • At these days, dialectic traditions in large number of population left just in Latgalia. It's like Neopolitan in Italia. Latgalian could be called language, becouse its different form Literal Latvian as much Lithaunian. It has own historical transcription, and survived form big lingvistic transcr. reforms and simplyfication made by scientists in modern times.

Very sad that such Languages as Old Prusian and Kuronian speech are dead, after historical influence and rule of ger, pol, rus, swe.

  • @NiazA221 whatever who made this video dont know latvian :D

    ''Čau'' istnt latvian official word-

    diff= 0

  • @DeBravoTV Dear DeBravoTV and other visitors on my Channel - you need to know that I am not creating these videos as a Latvian language teacher or a professional - I am doing this on a conversational day to day basis in my spare time. "'Čau'' might not be proper, however - every single Latvian uses the word in everyday life... For those that want to learn proper, textbook, dictionary style speaking - these videos will not be sufficient. I want to be clear about my purpose here. Thank you all

  • @LearnLatvian yeah its aight.. its cool ;)

    people just get confused. :)

  • @LearnLatvian Thank you DeBravo. For a beginner this is really useful. Good Luck

  • gracias !

  • Slovejnc, you are right there is a connection."Labi " means good (adverb) and "diena" means day.

  • hey hey hey, labdien comes from lab dien?? In slovene lep means nice and dan (in dialects den) means day. Is there any connection??

  • @Slovejnc

Yes there is, they both come from Balto-Slavic language group

  • Latvian is easy - anyone can learn. :)

  • @FreeAgain2 then i would like to see how you learn it. :p

  • Are you a russian living in Latvia?

  • @FreeAgain2 nope. i'm latvian living in latvia.

just i know how hard it is for like americans to learn our pronunciation.

  • :~)

I speak 'pre- war' Latvian - I never was exposed to the commie talk.

My parents are always upset when they hear the changes/influences of Russian on the Latvian language - but what can be done?

When I travel to Riga and encounter Russian speaking people - I always have to ask that they speak Latvian because I know ZERO russian. They get so upset! - ha.

I do know of 3 Americans who have learned to speak Latvian quite well - That is always a surprise.

  • Yep. Living in Latvia for years and they still don't know the language!

  • come live in latvia. all american australian etc latvians should do that. we would appreciate it much too

  • Think about that all the time! But moving is so hard.

Will visit every year - :)

  • sounds like Lithuanian but a little bit differnt
