Wow! I'm astonished. I was never aware of these facts. It's amazing how the U.S government sets aside these reservations; however, there is little if no infrastructure existing at these reservations at all! I thought this sort of neglect existed with natives only in countries like Mexico. The Taraumara of Mexico also have to live through adverse conditions in the Sierra of Chihuahua Mexico, which does get cold in the winter, but by GOD, this is South Dakota we're talking about. Unbelievable!

Did you know in Pague an outside mining corporation came in, paid the tribe/Nation for the right's to the uranium in their Mt and promised to pave roads and build buildings. To address the comment below re. a "big paycheck", LakotaKidz is a legitimate 501(3)c non-profit, entirely made up of volunteers with no salaries whatsoever. To put it bluntly, no one in this organization is getting any type of paycheck whatsoever. Unlike most charities, over 95% of all funds Lakota Kidz raises go directly into the programs they offer. (They spend less than 5% on things such as postage/shipping, web maintenance, etc.) Hope that clarifies.

Many of the HUD homes should be condemned - they have no flooring, no running water, no insulation, horrible mold problems & insufficient heating systems for the climate there. I live next to Cherokee Reservation. I see a Harrahs Casino and they I guess get their check. They also can work from tourisim from the Great Smoky Mountain National park. The most visited National Park in the USA.
