Oooooh bonus review! Nice. Did you try the directional controls on the matchup screen? Might be like most other EA games where you have to select which team you wanna control. But it shouldn't be in the middle by default like that! Programming fail.
The post-hole music is really calming. It's like, "Lets all sit down, take a deep breath, and reflect on our performance.
Pack up, go home and have a beer? I'll just stay home anyway!
Golf games can be really surprisingly satisfying - none of us clots would ever be able to even remotely make any of those shots but we sure can hit buttons on a controller and watch for on-screen cues!
i've never ever liked golf games of golf for that matter, yet i was always bought them for various systems as a kid. however this doesnt look like a bad game really, fairly playable and i'm sure with a few drunk mates it could be a laugh
Lol! As ever, some high quality playing, insane production values coupled with the assurance that things will run smoothly at all times.
Err... :D
Re: Baseball, it's either a faulty cartridge (which seems probable) OR: when you have the screen with the controller on, try moving it to one of the 2 teams. You have that in FIFA (and possibly all of their sports games, IDK) on the same console, perhaps the game thought you were in demo mode as a result of not choosing your team?
The baseball bonus footage at the end was hilarious. EA always made their sports game menus really confusing to navigate.
It looks to me that the reason the game kept "resetting" is because you didn't select which team you wanted to control while blazing through the menus. It was the screen with the red guy and blue guy looking at each other. The controller icon was left in the middle indicating the CPU was controlling both teams which lead to a spectator game.
@Croooow111 The game would then exit out of spectator mode when you hit a button. It's a pretty confusing menu system and it's one that EA has used for years on their sports games. What's really crap is that it does a poor job of showing what your selecting.
GREAT JOB STEVE. I LOVE WAKING UP IN THE MORNING DRINKING MY RED BULL AND WATCHING YOU PLAY GAMES FROM THE US THAT MAKE NO SENSE TO EVEN MOST AMERICANS INCLUDING ME. YOU ARE ONE FUNNY GUY. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!
LMFAO, loved the Baseball bit at the end, maybe the game kept going into demo mode because it hadn't registered that you pressed buttons when the title screen started, that's the only explanation I can think of for that!
Can't remember if it was 2 or 3 on the Megadrive, but I played that game a lot. But my favorite golf game is probably NES Open. I bet the modern games are too complicated now, a bit like FIFA.
@PSI236 I haven't even looked at any modern games myself. I get the same impression as you... probably too complicated. That, and I tend not to use my PS3 for relaxing games like golf.
@PSI236 Right on. I have alot of fun with NES Open, back in the day I could not find a cart for it, Golf (1986NA) was the a game my friends & I would play a lot in the 90's. Like in tennis the main character looked more like Jump-Man unlike Mario. Fun games It is still a past-time of mine.
I think I know what the issue was with the baseball game. You weren't selecting what team you wanted to play as, which made the game run the match in demo mode. Hence the restart when you pressed a button.
@SteveBenway Ya noticed it to, at 10:07 I think You need to move the controller Icon left or right to choose the side your on. or the game go in to demo. The golf game brought back some memories, I never did buy it. :`( "It's in the Game"

I never really understood a Golf video game.
I mean, it works on the Wii, but all the other games seem to be, "hit the button twice" and a golf animation with run.
Could just be me though.

Class game for the time. I would play this alot until Actua Golf came along on the PS1.

@XFile2708 Yup, when 16 bit golf is this good, there doesn't seem to be a need for a modern version with lots of bells and whistles :)
SteveBenway 1 year ago
@xTHExSTIGx Gold on 16 bit systems just makes so much sense, where it doesn't appeal to me at all on modern kit.
I'm glad you saw the bonus feature. It wasn't really something I could use as a full video, but it was too amusing to waste :D
