Right at 1:58, I got chills. Classic song to go along with a classic movie. Even though it was near the end of the '80s that this came out, it's easily one of the most memorable.
Certain movie moments seem to stick out more than most. The end scene of uncle buck with this song is one of those magical moments. It makes you step outside of life for a moment... where time stands still to let you look at everything that's happened and for a few seconds you've been lifted to a higher place. It's almost supernatural.
@elcap22 True, sorry dude, it's just whenever I listen to the song I get lost in the times that were favorable than now. These days got all these dumb new generation shits are about liking all this Twilight crap and it just pisses me off that's all!
God do I miss those days! Watched this last night with my wife and kids. I feel like my kids are going to miss out on the simple things in life. My wife, who is from Peru and had never seen this movie, said she likes it because it's so "Pure". Couldn't have said it better my Love. really wish they would make movies like this again. Hate that I have to dissect everything now-days to protect my kids. Movies now are garbage! God rest you John Candy. See you in Heaven.
Such a nice song, but its kind of sad too. You know when you listen to a good song and you feel good and happy about it, but at other times when you listen to this kind of good music and take a good hard look at what the world is like now? Thats why I think its as sad as its joyess, because it makes you think of the good old days, its such a shame how the world just casts aside something so special and replaces it with bullshit. All that in mind, I literally cry.
@WickedKnight07 I'm totally with you Brother, you can't imagine how I detest these times myself. And everyone likes that little Bieber shit and Harry "Bullshit" Potter Crap - 80s for good and All - We miss it Eternally!
Every time I see that final scene of John Candy waving as the song ends I can't help but get that overwhelming feeling of joy but, at the same time, an undeniable feeling of sadness knowing Mr. Candy is gone. I guess that's how we know that we are connected in sharing memories and feelings and that the world is a great place. R.I.P. John Candy. You will always be missed.
One of my other favourites was, what's your record for consecutive questions asked? 38, I'm your dad brother al right, you have allot more hair on your nose than my dad, how nice of you to notice, I'm a kid that's my job.
My God, I cant believe I never knew John Candy died. He was one of my favorite actors and somehow I never knew (to be honest I dont pay much attention to hollywood, favorite is a fairly loose term). May you rest in peace Mr. Candy and may you make Heaven crack up with your hilarious acting.
In loving memory of John Candy; a heart-warming face and a smile that will keep you moving even when your body is not. You didn't live very long but you lived to your potential. You changed many hearts and showed what true family and true love really is. God bless you John Candy and rest in peace.
God Bless Hugh Harris for this song! I used to have it on cassette and lost it in a house move! I can't get the album from anywhere. Beautiful music, very talented guy.
@iamabigfatbutt John Candy struggled with Obesity througn most of his adult life. He did quit smoking and had lost some weight in his last year but it was just to late. He went to sleep one night and never woke up. Had a major heart attack in his sleep.
awwww....i'm crying looking at all these pictures....i love John Candy, he was my favourite actor. I met him when i was 13 when he co-owned thr toronto argos....he signed an autograph for me, he was so nice.....I miss him:( Rest In Peace xoxo
andrew 8833---John Candy appeared to be an extremely sincere individual who had the ability to make you laugh your head off one minute, and break your heart the next (the end of PT&A when he's standing in the foyer of Steve Martin's character's house after that character is reunited with his wife). He appeared to be the kind of person you'd love to have a beer with. I suggest you YouTube "Getting John Candy's Autograph". A great talent with no ego, unlike many actors today.
This guy was head and shoulders above those who carry the title "actor" today, many of whom wouldn't be fit to shine his shoes. And talk about down to earth. This, along with Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, are two of my favorites. And it's no coincidence that John Candy was in both. He was truly a comedic genius, in my opinion rivaled only by Jackie Gleason.
@edwardnorton04 I have to thoroughly agree, I think his and Steve Martin's best scenes was when they where holding hands in TP&A lol.
I mentioned that to my father and we literally could not stop laughing, just incredible, really miss him, what's even funnier is my 2 sisters call my Uncle (my fathers brother in law) U.B well Uncle Buck, pml.
