  • ha, and thats why the fan disc of a DC-10 (GE CF-6) SHATTERED in mid air, cut hydraulic lines and caused the plane to crash? And GE coppied the swept blade design from RR, AND the serrated cowling to reduce noise levels!

And may I add, how many people died on the 777 crash at heathrow? NONE

How many died as a result of GE: 111

What engine manufacturer invented the turbofan?? Rolls Royce

What is the only engine manufacturer to use 3 shaft? Rolls royce!!

  • @05u16hep ummmm. Pratt and Whitney designed the first turbofan the Jt-9D soory to burst your bubble.

  • Tut tut tut. Patriotism really is a mad thing. I'm British so I'm gonna say RR are better, and for a wild guess you're American so you're gonna say GE... Truth be told they are both awesome bits of kit :-)

  • if i'm not mistaken you miss quoted!!

GE is way better than RR no matter how you look at it!

Also most engine that fail is RR like the 777-200 that crashed in heathrow!! thats one of the reason why RR SUCK!!!!

  • Actually I think you may well find that Ice in the fuel feeds caused that accident so actually it was your countries "superior" engineering to thank for that. Oh and where was the "mis-quote"??

More to the point do you work with engines on a daily basis?? I sure as hell don't so to be fair we are both arguing a case we know nothing about. Lets just agree to disagree :-)

  • RR engines are 'engines' than GE

  • jet engines invented in England , we taught you everything you know but not everything we know.
