This is also just a little over 6 years and a month from when Brian Pillman was found deceased in his hotel room. I was at WWF In Your House-Bad Blood (October 1997) when that annoucement was made. I was a freshman in college, visiting home for the first time since moving away. The announcement was made right before the dark matches started

I agree with you somewhat. I think that Cena is long overdue for a heel turn. A heel turn for Cena would do WONDERS for his career. I've always been a fan of the bigmen, RickModelMartel. We all know what happens when you attempt to have big men do "luche libre" style moves (see the Sid vs. Scott Steiner match, where Sid got one of the worst injuries in professional wrestling history). I've always liked Sid, Undertaker (going back to Mean Mark Callous), Ahmed Johnson, Danny Spivey, Mark Henry, Vader, Akeem "The Afrikan Dream," Bad News Brown, and to a lesser extent, Goldberg (sloppy, but intense, and the greatest spear ever).

WWE Title match was crap overall but a fantastic finish with Edge winning. This sets up some decent feuds now like Edge/Jeff and Triple H/Edge
WHC match Y2J vs Cena - 6/10, surprise surprise Cena is the champion. See this is why the WWE has now gone to the shits because an unpopular guy like this is champion over and over again. Very annoying. I would have liked to see Jericho retain and kept the belt for a while. Overall the match wasn't that good. Could have been better, with a Jericho win.
WWE Championship Match, Vladimir Kozlov vs Triple H - 5/10 (it would have been 3 if it wasnt for Edge and Jeff!) Bad, bad match. First 10 minutes were awful, this would have fitted perfectly with No Mercy. Also didnt know anything about Jeff until JR mentioned it but as the ppv progressed i suspected it was an act, even though the american stations were all over it like flies on shit. It's not the first time they've fell to a WWE "prank", see Vince's "death" as a ref.

SS Elimination Match - Kane, the 2 homosexuals, MVP and JBL vs HBK, Rey, Khali and Cryme Tyme. Good match, great opener for the ppv. The only downsides with this match is why are those puffs miz/morrison getting a push, cryme tyme jobbing to them and Kane jobbing to Mysterio??? It's true what people say, WWE waste good talent, anyway bar all that this is a 7/10
Divas Elimination Match - 5/10. Pointless, most of them can't wrestle apart from Beth, Victoria and Mickie James

edge won it the way that he usually does and i8t's great, but the fact that cen ajust came back and won at his hometown just didn't feel right. jericho = lackluster champion? i beg to differ. the crowd erupted when jericho won that steel cage match. they know that jericho was a good champion and he should've won because the heat would've build up even better. jericho can draw real heat from the fans now, cena still has x-pac heat in him.

I agree with you somewhat. I think that Cena is long overdue for a heel turn. A heel turn for Cena would do WONDERS for his career. I think that the WWE refuses to turn him heel because a large portion of his fan base are small children, & they purchase his toys (which is big revenue for the WWE). A heel turn could equal less toy sales. I'm not happy about Edge winning the WWE title, as I'm ready to see new blood carry it. It's time out for HHH & Edge. Perhaps Jeff Hardy will finally be put over

While we're at it, let's get a cheeseburger to be the next champ. He is NOT a believable champ. Cena winning the title was no suprise to me. I think they are setting up a WM match between Cena and Big Dave Bautista. Also, let's not forget that Jericho has alwasy been a jobber to Cena, just like Savage to Hogan.

I am very interested to see if John Cena will bring out a modified version of The Big Gold Belt now that he has won that title. It needs a makeover, as it's been the exact same for over 20 years (ever since it was created). Also, I am curious to see if Edge will bring back the Rated R Superstar Title that he had a few years ago.

Ikickass92, we have the same opinion. Honestly, Stephanie McMahaon, Vicky Guerrero, and Sean Waltman (X-Pac / Syxx) are my alltime most hated on screen personalities. To me, the three of them don't get booed with legitimate heel heat. They get booed because they suck, and people don't want to see them on the TV Screen. When I see any of them on my TV, I change the channel.

In my opinion, the world title matches were the worst thing to happen in this ppv. Aren't people tired of Edge coming in the last minute to win the title? It's gotten very old and boring. Now Cena is back as a world champion, now Raw is definately going to be boring and as a result, other talent are not going to be used. I can't believe people still actually waste their money on ppvs!

If you like Edge, then that's great, but he just like Cena is what's wrong with wrestling today. Few yrs ago, even if a wrestler was a main eventer, if injured for several months, he or she would have to earn their way back to the top. It's not fair that others in the back including Hardy don't get a fair chance at gold, but Edge can come back anytime to win the title? That's bullshit. If Edge did something like that 10yrs ago, he would be booed out the building. Fans today don't know wrestling.

no, it's different for edge.....yes, on most occasions i think wrestlers should have to prove themselves and make their way back to the top.....but it is good to have surprises every now and then.....also edge is a heel and took advantage of the situation like he has done in the past, hence his nickname "The Ultimate Oppurtunist". Edge is great!!! but guys like cena should climb their way to the top every time.

Bossdog, I completely agree. Edge continuously winning titles this way cheapens the value of the titles. His title reigns mean nothing. Edge hardly ever wins cleanly. No clean wins=title means nothing, & puts much more pressure on the person that takes it from him to actually win clean matches. It's so hypocritical that the same people who sing Edge's praises said CM Punk was a joke for beating Edge the same way Edge beat Cena & Undertaker. I think Cena's win is to set up Cena vs Bautista at WM.

He's just as much as a joke as a heel as Edge being WWE champion. In my opinion, Jeff should have been WWE champ, it's time for a fresh face for that title. Cena winning the belt was just as worse. Now he and Batista might fight at WM, they can't come up with something better because both of them suck.

Bossdog, what's different with fans now vs. many fans of yesteryear is that the average age of fans is getting younger and younger. Nowadays, you see a lot more high school and college age fans, and much younger. Back in the day, you saw many more older fans. Not to knock younger fans, but, people that age have a much different world view than those who have more life experience. I agree with you - Brian Kendrick is a joke, and they have remade (poorly) Shawn Michaels and Diesel. Edge is a joke.

Another thing,I keep hearing people knock the big men of wrestling,like the Big Show and Great Khali and Mark Henry,saying how awful their matches are,I mean what do people expect & want from these big men,moonsaults & sunset flips, they are big men,thats what they are meant to do is have big man matches, Working wise Big Show could do alot more than Andre in the ring,but you dont hear Andre's career and all his matches get knocked,start looking at the story,not the moves,Mark Henry is a bad ass

I've always been a fan of the bigmen, RickModelMartel. We all know what happens when you attempt to have big men do "luche libre" style moves (see the Sid vs. Scott Steiner match, where Sid got one of the worst injuries in professional wrestling history). I've always liked Sid, Undertaker (going back to Mean Mark Callous), Ahmed Johnson, Danny Spivey, Mark Henry, Vader, Akeem "The Afrikan Dream," Bad News Brown, and to a lesser extent, Goldberg (sloppy, but intense, and the greatest spear ever).

I can't believe you picked the HBK Team vs JBL Team over the Orton Team vs Batista Team match, but thats your opinion,I really enjoyed the Orton-Batista match,I think every wrestler got to showcase what talents they had in the short time they were given each,plus I think the star of that match was Shelton Benjamin,some great moves in this match from Kingston and Cody Rhodes,and I can't remember the last time I was on my feet,waiting for orton to RKO Batista,great match,im a huge fan of orton now

The Casket match sucked so badly, probably one of the worst i've ever seen; really dumb finish. Edge came back; I was amazed, and stole another one; that was awesome. The Cena/Jericho match was so predictable; Hopefully, Cena wont break his last title reign record..

So overall this ppv is a disappointing 6/10 for me. A good start to the show spoiled by incompentent wrestling by most of the divas as usual, the awful title match with Kozlov and Triple H until the ending of course,and obviously the biggest disappointment of all, Cena winning the title. Personally i have nothing against the man except im sick of seeing his title reigns. *sigh* expect another VERY lengthy title reign. RIP Attitude Era

WWE Title match was crap overall but a fantastic finish with Edge winning. This sets up some decent feuds now like Edge/Jeff and Triple H/Edge
WHC match Y2J vs Cena - 6/10, surprise surprise Cena is the champion. See this is why the WWE has now gone to the shits because an unpopular guy like this is champion over and over again. Very annoying. I would have liked to see Jericho retain and kept the belt for a while. Overall the match wasn't that good. Could have been better, with a Jericho win.

WWE Championship Match, Vladimir Kozlov vs Triple H - 5/10 (it would have been 3 if it wasnt for Edge and Jeff!) Bad, bad match. First 10 minutes were awful, this would have fitted perfectly with No Mercy. Also didnt know anything about Jeff until JR mentioned it but as the ppv progressed i suspected it was an act, even though the american stations were all over it like flies on shit. It's not the first time they've fell to a WWE "prank", see Vince's "death" as a ref.

SS Elimination Match - Kane, the 2 homosexuals, MVP and JBL vs HBK, Rey, Khali and Cryme Tyme. Good match, great opener for the ppv. The only downsides with this match is why are those puffs miz/morrison getting a push, cryme tyme jobbing to them and Kane jobbing to Mysterio??? It's true what people say, WWE waste good talent, anyway bar all that this is a 7/10
Divas Elimination Match - 5/10. Pointless, most of them can't wrestle apart from Beth, Victoria and Mickie James

I think it was one of he better ppvs of the year and edges return did make it alot better than it would have been. im not to sure about a double title switch but i guess thy are just setting the tone for wrestlemania. also biggest pop of the decade goes to jeff hardy.

Thank god HHH isn't champion anymore since he hasn't lost once on ppv since June and has made the younger guys look weak but now Edge is the champion&will feud w/Hardy(which is pretty obvious)The World Title is officially meaningless not b/c Cena won but the fact how terrible the title has been tossed around this year by burying Punk,giving it to Batista(which was pointless)and making Jericho look stupid nonetheless I wasn't surprised Cena won and the other matches didn't care too about!
