maybe these people who had visions of hell were just bad, and needed a kick in the ass, nothing to do with lack of faith in Jesus. It all sounds like scare tactics to me. I believe in God and treat people with love and respect, most of the time, I am human, i slip up sometimes, no middle man is required, humans done ok before Jesus came along, in fact we are worse off.

@lizazoon No one can interpret the Bible or its intentions - NOTHING....ONLY revelation comes from the Holy Spirit. The Bible forwarns this all over the Bible. If man could understand the entire Bible he would think himself great. Instead God designed it that you must rely on Him for interpretation. @wintersnowolves Followers of Jesus are to strive to be like minded with Jesus becoming one with Him as well as fellow believers. We seek His mindset and His thoughts, so we DON'T lean on our own understanding (which is flawed). The delivery style, levels of knowledge and testimonies will be different. We will always have "our own world" due to different backgrounds, studies and environments. However, we are to be in one accord in general. ONLY then can you be unique and individually special.

yes I have had good mentors, I've also had bad mentors, I assume you also have had the same. What I don't want is to have a mentor essentially guiding me all the way through my life especially if said mentor has given me freedom of choice.

@wintersnowolves 1st. No 1 "taught" me 2 B guided by God. I hit rock bottom. Then hit rock bottom. Then again&again. It was horrible. I wasn't told 2 call on Jesus or that I could even have open forum w/ Him, but God reveals Himself in your inner consience. I didn't say a sinners prayer, I just plainly said I'm at the end of my rope, if Youre there show yourself & I will let you lead me. He showed Himself over&over again. When He does this, ur eyes R opened & pure reverence 4 Him is all U know.
That broke my heart hearing of that lamb being brutally murdered, but that lamb's death was not in vain. It represented Jesus sacrifice for all of us.
This man is telling a beautiful story. I believe him and I certainly believe in the power of Jesus Christ. I just hopw my sins will be forgiven and I'll be in His arms when I die.
Hell is a vile, abusive, disgusting concept. God buys love & loyalty with torture? A Gandhi, Teresa, Mandela would never think of torturing their enemies, whereas a Saddam, Hitler, Stalin would. This is the company that God keeps? Karma & Rebirth is the better, non-violent way. You are not punished, nor are you simply forgiven because you groveled enough. The most important aspect of Karma is that you are held accountable for your actions, you are reborn, given another chance to make amends.

Mainstream Christianity believes that the PARABLE of Lazarus and the Rich man is to be taken LITERALLY!!! YET,.......they tell us that THESE "hell experiences" are a message from God that are TRYING to tell us NOT to go to hell.
The funny thing is, is that in the parable of Lazarus and the rich man, God is telling us that even if someone came back from the dead or from hell, NO ONE would believe them!!!

The WORD OF GOD is NOT the King James Bible, or any other bible for that matter, but the ORIGINAL WORD OF GOD in it's ORIGINAL LANGUAGES!!!!
If you study THESE languages to show yourself approved and don't allow your Pastor (Modern day Pharisees and your Master) to tell you what God's TRUE WORD really means.

So are you saying that what this man saw is made up...there are many other stories just like this one, and they all somehow mystically align wih the faith? Just a dream perhaps? People have dreams about falling all the time for example. A lot of people have dreams about falling that are very similar. It does not mean that all the dreams were happening on a secret dream-scape somewhere on the same cliff. That'd be ridiculous.
These people are extremely unlikely to attribute their experiences to god without prior knowledge of it. If you have heard of a near death experience and seeing heaven etc then you are likely to see the same thing when you have one because its what you expect.
If I ask a random person on the street, religious or not, what they attribute to near death experiences they will likely reel off a list of very similar attributes to what these people experienced.
AlTheAtheist: Christians have near-death experiences with christian imagery from the bible. Moslems have them with imagery from Islam. Hindous get experiences stemming from Hindouism. Interesting phenomenon .
This is always what really gets me: there is so VERY MUCH debate on whether hell exists by huge numbers of christians that its obvious that the bible is a little unclear on even the fundamental things. Yet many many christians will quickly damn and gay person as an "abomination" or a monster.
This is so bad. The time has come for people of reason to say. Enough is enough! Religious faith discourages independent thought, it is divisive and it is dangerous.

HELL IS REAL!!! If we have lied, stolen, hated someone, looked with lust, had sex outside of marriage, used profanity, etc., we are guilty and in danger of spending eternity in hell after this life. However, that is not God's desire for us. Christ came from heaven to take our punishment on Himself and die on a cross. maybe these people who had visions of hell were just bad, and needed a kick in the ass, nothing to do with lack of faith in Jesus. It all sounds like scare tactics to me. I believe in God and treat people with love and respect, most of the time, I am human, i slip up sometimes, no middle man is required, humans done ok before Jesus came along, in fact we are worse off.

When Jesus rose from the dead, we also receive the grace to do the same. IF you accept this wonderful gift, God gives you power on earth to come against evil, to heal, to bless. There is only 1 sin there is no forgiveness for & thats blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Which means total rejection of God. Punishment foretold is hell.

yes I have had good mentors, I've also had bad mentors, I assume you also have had the same. What I don't want is to have a mentor essentially guiding me all the way through my life especially if said mentor has given me freedom of choice.
yes you're right i don't even know if this is part of some "great plan" anyway but I'm not going to live my life as if it is. I don't assume I know others thoughts that's why i try and understand them.

I suppose its natural to feel this way, as I once felt the same. Its in desperation one changes their mind. The only reason you brought up that one feels awkward when they pass up the offering plate, is because you perceive they actually care what others think. You couldn't "care" what others think if you did not already ASSUME you knew what they were thinking.

as to guiding through my life, well ok I don't want god in it but i do want mentors so that I go to uni and get a decent job in something i like doing

@wintersnowolves OR that too. I agree. But isn't that still assuming U know what they R thinking? Doesn't it mean that U R in fact taking from your experiences & persuaded to make a different choice? When you are whole/complete/confident, U never even concern yourself w/ possible negative thoughts of others. Instead isn't it more true that U would take from your experience & pity those who think negatively because U were once there yourself; U wouldn’t feel guilty refusing an offering plate.

@wintersnowolves I'm not really seeing how one guiding you is preventing you from making your own decisions (?) He made you unique for a reason. No one is asking you to give that up. I search out God's thoughts because they are higher than my own and my own have no firm foundation, but His thoughts are forever TRUE. Why would I ask myself to answer life's questions when I can have one on one communication with the one who created/started it all? Which makes more sense? lol seriously

in answer to the life's question thing, which is better, to be born and grow from a baby learning as you go or to be born fully formed with no idea of the world?
question though, how do you know that god's thoughts are "higher" than your own? and how do you know that your thoughts have no firm foundation?

@wintersnowolves 1st. No 1 "taught" me 2 B guided by God. I hit rock bottom. Then hit rock bottom. Then again&again. It was horrible. I wasn't told 2 call on Jesus or that I could even have open forum w/ Him, but God reveals Himself in your inner consience. I didn't say a sinners prayer, I just plainly said I'm at the end of my rope, if Youre there show yourself & I will let you lead me. He showed Himself over&over again. When He does this, ur eyes R opened & pure reverence 4 Him is all U know.

That broke my heart hearing of that lamb being brutally murdered, but that lamb's death was not in vain. It represented Jesus sacrifice for all of us.

Hell is a vile, abusive, disgusting concept. God buys love & loyalty with torture? A Gandhi, Teresa, Mandela would never think of torturing their enemies, whereas a Saddam, Hitler, Stalin would. This is the company that God keeps? Karma & Rebirth is the better, non-violent way. You are not punished, nor are you simply forgiven because you groveled enough. The most important aspect of Karma is that you are held accountable for your actions, you are reborn, given another chance to make amends.

Hell was designed specifically for Satan and the fallen angels.Man was never supposed to go there but as we see today many do not believe in the truth of eternal life through Jesus and they ultimately choose their eternal future.Man is saved by faith and grace,not by works...we do not decide or change the rules.We are made for the Glory of God not ourselves...this life is short and time is running out.There is no Karma and no re-incarnation. Sorry.

It is appointed once for man to die and then the judgement.

God made me, just as my parents did, but they don't own me, neither does God. + I see great evil resulting from those who lower themselves to a slave level - cult members, terrorists feel this way - every terrorist feels that he is just doing what his God orders him to do - A Hindu, Buddhist must never become a slave.

The Bible proves itself to be historically correct time and again but as we see these days,scientists are having to admit that the likeliness of evolution is just a bit too slim as there is no proof and life is so complicated and perfect there had to be a creator.'Chance' did not factor in the world's birth.Each to their own though.Everyone has the right of free choice.
The truth is debated but have you ever asked yourself why Christianity is the one religion that is attacked by all others???

All cults do the same thing - we members are special, only we get to go to heaven, everyone else is going to hell. Mainstream Christianity believes that the PARABLE of Lazarus and the Rich man is to be taken LITERALLY!!! YET,.......they tell us that THESE "hell experiences" are a message from God that are TRYING to tell us NOT to go to hell.
The funny thing is, is that in the parable of Lazarus and the rich man, God is telling us that even if someone came back from the dead or from hell, NO ONE would believe them!!!
So why would God NOW have people come back from hell to warn others????

First off, the word the (MIS) Translators translated hell from is Hades, which is synonymous with Sheol!!
And we KNOW that in the OLD Testament, EVERYONE went to Sheol.
Not to mention God explains what Sheol is Like!!

Hades IS sheol. Hades is the Greek translation in the New Testament when an Old Testament Hebrew verse is quoted containing the word "sheol." Here is an example:
Acts 2:27--"Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell [Gk: hades], neither wilt thou suffer Your Holy One to see corruption"
This is a quotation of Psalm 16:10:
"For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell [Heb: sheol]; neither wilt thou suffer Your Holy One to see corruption."

Actually I have PROVED the exact opposite. I have shown that Hades and Sheol are Synonymous.
Secondly there are a plethora of people who get scared into God's arms.
But YOU have to TRY to understand what the PARABLE of Lazarus is all about.
It is about the relationship between God and the Jews,...and God and the Gentiles!!!
It has NOTHING to do with the afterlife. If you did ANY STUDY in the Original Language, you would Know this without me having to tell you!!!

The WORD OF GOD is NOT the King James Bible, or any other bible for that matter, but the ORIGINAL WORD OF GOD in it's ORIGINAL LANGUAGES!!!!
If you study THESE languages to show yourself approved and don't allow your Pastor (Modern day Pharisees and your Master) to tell you what God's TRUE WORD really means.
Be your OWN MAN and then make your OWN decision of what the Word of God really says!!

They do not 'mystically align'. All of the people in question had some (if not a lot) of knowledge of the faith before being compelled to follow it.
I have watched all the parts of the videos and am still not convinced by their deluded, oxygen-deprived induced, tripped-out experiences.
The conversion by a video like this or an experience being described and/or shown are the halmarks of a weak mind.

1- These testimonies are true. (appeals to me)
2- Somebody or group paid these actors to tell this story for money, self-interest, or mind control of masses. ( although they seem to be very close to the ones in power in the government, they seem credible.)

Just a dream perhaps? People have dreams about falling all the time for example. A lot of people have dreams about falling that are very similar. It does not mean that all the dreams were happening on a secret dream-scape somewhere on the same cliff. That'd be ridiculous.

These people are extremely unlikely to attribute their experiences to god without prior knowledge of it. If you have heard of a near death experience and seeing heaven etc then you are likely to see the same thing when you have one because its what you expect.

There is no such thing as a near death experience or a conversion story that has not been without prior knowledge of what they would have seen.
In as general terms as possible, the god isn't picking the person, the person is picking the god.
Its the simplest, and therefore most likely true, explanation.

This is always what really gets me: there is so VERY MUCH debate on whether hell exists by huge numbers of christians that its obvious that the bible is a little unclear on even the fundamental things. Yet many many christians will quickly damn and gay person as an "abomination" or a monster.
