Imagine growing up in that house with those two? Good Lord!
That said, Woody does seem to be baiting his mother, especially with the line about dating an Asian girl. Obviously he knew his old-school Jewish mother would make a remark about him not being with a Jewish girl. It seemed intentional on Woody's part for him to say that.
"His father in more interested in the engraving on Woodys awards, you did a lot of good things but you never pursued them, you should have been a pharmacist, Hebrew school was good for you, you weren't brought up in that kind of household-you were brought up to know right from wrong, you'd have never got anywhere on your own, I would like you to have married a Jewish girl." Life imitating art. This is a charming and endearing birds eye view of how this genius stayed grounded all his life.
Parents like that are amazingly out of touch! He would have been better off as a pharmacist, married to a nice Jewish girl?? WTF. So sad to see his parents seem to not even know their own son. Amazing, but too common.
classic set of Jewish parents!!! i'm sure they would rather see Woody as a lawyer or a doctor married to a nice "jewish girl" hahahahha! And about Soon Ji i personally don't find her attractive at all but after all the women woody had b4 her who cares!!! if she supports him by helping him to write and direct more movies I LOVE HER!!!
It is really good to see this again. His parents are really so nasty, so uncomprehending. I had my second group show at MoMA last year and my French inlaws were outraged that I flew over there for the reception! They haven't spoken to me since! Oh, how frivolous of me to abandon their only son for three days! (I have been back to the States three times in 18 years!) Great posting, thanks for listening to me kvetch. Woody taught me some things about that.

@Snackay Hahah i don't know, she's a funny old Jewish woman. Imagine Woody Allen as a professional tap dancer- amazing!

"you did a lot of good things, but you never pursued them" , poor Woody. Such a fantastic moment, and a wonderful film.

Thank you so much for uploading. Parents are like that, you could be Woody Allen and they wouldn't be impressed.
