  • Am I the only one who thinks that Japanese soundtrack is inferior? I mean, Palmtree Panic is not really good on either version, but Japanese one is just horrible.

  • EU music was changed to the same as US in later releases

  • American all the way the Jap/Euro soundtrack is overrated and annoying Stardust Speed Way is the best in the whole game and Thumbs Up if you agree

  • @CrashSpyro125 USA! USA!

  • I prefer the American soundtrack. :|

  • Ehhh music is split 50/50 for me. I dont have a favorited version. I like em both

  • I honestley prefur the USA and Japans gameplay over eur. its too slow ocmpaired to the other two. as for music come on i can't choose they are both great, and amazing, niether are better then the others in terms of music in my mind

  • Japanese is better in terms of how it makes you want speed through the level and overall sound, but the American version fits with the game's atmosphere.

  • i love the japanese music

the usa version of their music just plain sucks!

  • Japanese is better. Sonics faster, better music. Man. its awsome

  • The Japanese music is really annoying and out of place.

The American music imo is far more fitting and sets a better atmosphere than the Japanese music.

  • @fonarte well, japanese works for a happy atmosphere but u r true .... BUT THE USA's GAMEOVER SOUNDTRACK SCARRED MANY CHILDREN!!!!

  • Am I the only one to prefer by far the american version ?

  • US version has crappy music

PAL/JAP had much much better music and also opening

  • in the eur ersion sonic is slower but the music is great

in the us version he is faster but the music is not better

in the jap version sonic is fast and the music is great

  • @TheSmashbros45

You summarized it kinda well for me. As an European, I must say that what I hate most about old gaming consoles is that stupid 50Hz limitation. It's kinda frustrating, you know =p

  • @TheSmashbros45 yeah true! jap is better because original is better!

  • American soundtrack, lax, worldly, slightly "elevator", 80's, little cheesy

Japanese soundtrack, hyper crackbaby azn invzn random

Well, that's how they sound in relation to each other. I think Sonic CD's supercomplex level layouts actually support the American soundtrack better- the Japanese soundtrack is faster and more extreme sounding than a lot of the Genesis songs. If Sonic CD was about speed and doing crack, well, yeah. I do like the past variants for being slower and/or cheap PCM though.

  • This was yet another stupid decision made by SEGA of America back then.

  • @CoCoLo1199 No it isn't it is the best decision ^-^

  • so, the only similar soundtrack was the past musics? all the others are different?

  • @blakethechao

Yes, because Sega of America decided to ask someone else to write other musics for the american version. I'm not sure why... But I remember seeing an ad about the US version that promoted the exclusive american OST written by an artist I personally never heard of... Maybe he's more famous in the US? I dunno...

  • @Lerenwe His name is Spencer.....something....I honestly don't remember. :/ He's nobody I've heard of though.

  • @flyffman121 It's Spencer Nilsen, yes.

Anyway, you guys can now really easily compare for yourselves in-game, as the game has been re-realesed on PS3, XBLA, and even Steam! And this re-release let you choose if you prefer to play with the JAP or USA version of the OST, and some other nice features. Definitely a must-buy for every Sonic fan, if you ask me :)

  • @blakethechao the reason why? Because the pasts were in PCM but all the other tracks were in standard CD audio. So they couldn't change the pasts.

  • @stryder33
