The only reason that inhaling helium for long periods of time can be dangerous is that it can starve the brain of oxygen (like holding your breath) and cause you to get dizzy and pass out, possibly hurting yourself when you collapse. That's why you shouldn't inhale it a bunch of times in a row. Same goes for sulfur hexafluoride.
