Chun Li is the first female of fighting games and that title was not given to her jjust because she was merely in a fighting game but because she was the first female ever to appear in a fighting game that on equal footing with other selectable characters who were all males. The others who came before her were either objects of affection or damsels in distress needing to be rescued,including Daphne of Dragon's Lair.
