Hitting his 64 Impala. original frame, and the guy driving was in a honda accord 2004 and the honda was unrecognizable. His car had good front end damage but only had some scratches. the honda driver went to the hospital with a concussion broken ribs and a broken left leg. Dont tell anyone new cars are safer.. thatd be a lie. His car is fixed up again. Barely drives it though.

Probably the easiest to find would be the one mythbusters did. the laws of physics mean that two bodies moving at the same speed in opposite direscions equal out equal each other out, e.g. making it like hitting a brick wall. if you don't believe it, clap your hands pretty hard (using both hands) then clap one hand into the other using the same force. it hurts the exact same amount (or it should if you're not incompitent.

half right, it's 40mph with a large (heavier car) hitting another car going the same speed but much less mass. Not equal. Still the yaris sucks for saftey compared to many modern cars available in the US.

Also mythbusters did a test of both having a full frontal collision, again, not equal to this offset test. This is because the force is being distributed over half the area it would be if it was to hit a wall. It's the reason why they have this test. But yea, Yaris sucks, lol.

If the two said "bodies" were of unequal masses, and both were traveling at equal speeds, the one with the greater mass will overpower the one with less mass, no matter how small of a difference it may seem. @ KAG8893 - If you were to be hit by an automobile, what would you rather be hit by a Smart car Fortwo traveling at 40 mph, or an 18 wheeler traveling at the same speed?

Just for your information, this is a 80 MPH crash. Don't think just because both cars are only going 40 MPH automatically means that this is a 40 MPH impact for the Yaris or the Camry. A 40 MPH crash would be either the Yaris or Camry crashing straight into an immovable wall like the standard frontal crash tests. When you collide with an oncoming car, they're going just as fast if not faster than you. Hence "80 MPH crash".

So for the camry the crash is like hitting a deformable barrier at a speed around 25-30mp/h and for the camry it's like hitting the barrier at 50-55mp/h. And that makes, as you can see, a large difference. -->Small cars are not safe, regardless what standard crash tests wants you to believe!

you out of the line pawl. The camry hitting the yaris at 40mp/h is aquivalent to the camry hitting the NCAP barrier at approximetely 30mp/h. Aquivalent with respect to the forces which were applied to the structure. If you really think this crash is aquivalent to an 80mp/h crash (>120km/h), take the camry and go with 80mp/h into a barrier. At this speed you are surely dead, even at the camry. So i would recommend to believe me, instead of trying out;)

Making a blunt statement like "at this speed you are surely dead" without any proof besides your own words holds no water.
