Thank you for posting this video and raising awareness of this sickening, sickening practice. Ignore people who are posting about a typo, the point is what these sick fucks are getting away with.
I'm wondering how many people who says it's ok to declaw the cats live in USA? How come people being so ignorant and in denial? No, it is not ok to declaw the cats. Cat claws are not the same as your nails for gods sake! Get the fact right AND PLEASE educate yourself! This practice is illegal in at least 30 countries and all the vets who perform this kind of procedure should get their license revoked. I live in Australia and it's illegal here for GOOD REASONS. A barbaric act indeed. Please STOP
3. Only laser manufacturing companies say that declawing with a laser is practically pain-free. The truth is, in double blind studies, that is not the case. Lasers cost $45,000. 45,000 reasons to declaw the cat.
Bottom line: there are humane alternatives. Don't declaw.
2. Declawing cats is not recommended by human health specialists like the CDC, NIH, US Public Health Services and the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Even for cats living with humans who have HIV/AIDS. Only vets recommend it and they're the ones who will make the $1200/hour doing it. Hmmmm....
1. Declawing does not necessarily prevent a cat from losing its home for scratching furniture. Look in any shelter. There are many declawed cats who have lost their homes because they (the declawed cats) are more likely to bite and less likely to use their litter boxes. They've been robbed of their primary defense system, their claws, and must resort to biting and they probably feel a lot of pain in their tender paws, so they don't want to dig in the litter.
cont.. and lastly, declawing SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN LIGHTLY! Recovery can make or break a declawed cat. Owners should be wary of limiting their cats movement and administer pain meds + keep all litter out of the box for AT LEAST 2 weeks after the surgery.
I am a supporter of owners desiring knowledge on declawing though I stress that it be an ABSOLUTE LAST RESORT. Declawing is legal in the US so correct information is key. A declawed cat deserves just as much love as a clawed cat.
@MommyofShadeandKacen A behavior problem needs a behavior-based solution, not a surgical one. In the video, Dr. Conrad explains some of the ethical problems with vets who declaw. Vets who make money from this surgery are not educating clients about behavior modification or training cats to use scratching posts, like the vet association position statements recommend. This unethical behavior is a big reason 8 cities in California banned declawing animals; cats & consumers need protection.
Cats should not be declawed any younger than 6 months of age!! 13 weeks? 3 pounds? Are they serious? Yes, the younger, the better, as with any surgery, but not the declaw surgery. Clip the kitten's claws for God's sake. I do agree that laser does not cause the discomfort that the blade does. And people will declaw cats for other reasons than furniture. HIV positive owners should be wary of cat scratches. Parents with young children should as well. Aggressiveness can be controlled with declawing

@Gollum0786 I actually do forget how to spell some words. I spelled the word right, but I used the wrong word, oops! There's bigger things in life to worry about. :)
I hope you got more out of this video than simply looking for typos, though.
