Vielen Dank für's Hochladen. Ich war damals 14, als die Funkausstellung im Fernsehen lief. Bin am nächsten Werktag losgezogen um Texas Flood zu kaufen. Unglaublicher Sound der mich immer noch begeistert.
I saw this when it was being screened. At that time I was getting into Punk music, still listening to Blues. I thought 'Holy shit, what's this!?' and went and bought the record immediately, when it came out a little later.
I wonder if anybody ever notices that Stevie Ray was a bit of a Punkrocker - considering the energy and attitude in his playing. Plus all the different influences from Jimi to Surf and whatnot. That's what made him so unique and loved by a younger generation of fans.
never understood why people used to say he was like Hendrix other than the fact that they were both awsome their sound was really nothing alike. When you heard Jimi you knew it was Jimi ,when you heard Stevie you knew it was Stevie.
nice clip...awesome chemistry these three tommy and Chris driving the train and Stevie just being great along the way...hey this is one of the few times i've seen SRV without that long ash cig dangling from his lip.....
By the way, Bill Ramsey was not a famous singer/entertainer in Germany in the 50's. He only copied the good old RnR songs from overseas, the same way then all the other German schmaltzy song stars. The korrupt German radio station DJs played this kind of boring music around the clock, but the young people in Germany in the 50s bought and played the real RnR music of Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eddie Cochran, Elvis etc.
I remember so well when I watched this on TV. I was 15, it was a boring Summer afternoon, this was a boring TV show -- until that strange guy with the funny hat came on stage and changed my live! I couldn't believe what I saw and heard.
After the first shock I started to really practice the guitar. Now I am a professional guitarist, just because I was so uncool at that time to watch a totally uncool TV show...
i always been into deep purple, led zep all the stuff my father listened to in the house, when i was about 15 i found the blues, then i found this guy and i do honestly love him. Bought a les Paul, found this guy and picked up a strat and well that was the end of it. BTW im only 18 now.
SRV and Hendrix have nothing to do with each other. He's just a guy "Stephen Vaughan" who grew up with music, who was inspired by the best (Hendrix, the Kings, Lonnie Mack, Buddy Guy...) to cite a few. He mixed all he learned and loved to create "Stevie Ray Vaughan," a very unique performer. The BEST!!!

@Emmibubble BRO SCREW THEM BE TRUE 2 YOSELF AND WOT YOU LIKE . MOST WOULDNT NO DECENT MUSIC IF IT CAME UP AND TAPPED THEM ON THE SHOULDER AND PUNCH IN THE FACE. I WAS A GROM WHEN I FIRST HEARD STEVIE BUT FELL IN LOVE WITH HIS SOUND AND STYLE. ILL BE 37 IN A COUPLE WEEKS. AN LOVE HIM STILL JUST AS MUCH NOW.
such thunder, such lightnin, man this guy was truly great, after hendrix there coulnt have come another to carry that torch it had to be him, and i mean that in all aspects, his character, his way of performiong, his showmanship, and ofcourse his playing, everyone else is great, but were tallking about the style of music and the roots originated talent, both him and Jimi felt music on a whole different level. And by the way...#1 does sound fantastic here.
stevie was a really small guy with quite freakishly large hands for his size.if you ever come across the pic of him and reese wynans the keyboard player from the band there really is quite a height difference but in saying that reese was a really big guy.
Stevies brother told Stevie that he was told there were 3 seats available on that Chopper. When they got there there was only one. So Jimmie told Stevie he could have it. It wasn't switched with Eric Clapton , However some of Claptons crew was aboard.
Stevie, for one thing is not a god, and secoundly he sure could play any guitar he would pick up, Stevie was a legend, and yes I'd love to have me a fender stratocaster as well. Stevie died middled aged in 1990, living us to soon. We all think god that he put Stevie Ray Vaughan on this earth so we can idolize after a great guitarist, and secoundly to listen to him play with his fender stratocaster. P:S BigSRV
God, im sick of all these arguments/comparisons on guitar players. No 2 players are alike, we each have our own style of playing, i just like the fact there have been and still are so many good players, enjoy the music, thats what it's for.

But, I will say this, in my opinion, Clapton couldn't hold a candle to Stevie's guitar playing skills, energy and passion. He's just not as good in my mind...sorry to those who disagree...

Stevie was great.. the fantastic thing about this tour was the Tommy Shannon matchup. I saw them, it was magic. Tommy's talent put Johnny Winter's best (recent) album where it needed to be, Third Degree. RIP Stevie with Duane, Jimi..

What cold shit, "Clapton should have taken the helicopter?" Nobody should have taken the fuckin helicopterClapton? Don't diss the guy he's done more for the blues than any other player around. If you don't like him at least respect him for what he has done to keep the blues alive, especially with the old guys. Look at his body of work, who compares? If you guys knew anything about music you would know these comments only disrespect Stevie Ray.
Manthat's not nice to wish on anyone. We all wish it hadn't been SRV. Let's just wish the helicopter had never taken off, or that the pilot (who had 2 previous accidents on his record) had his licencerevoked....
