  • he didnt have to be tall because his tone always elevated him 100 feet above all those suckers...

  • looks like he's yawning at 4:38

  • Great video! thanks!

  • who the fuck disliked this go fuck yourself u fukin pussy

  • I dont see much hendrix in stevie's playing ( not reckoning with the fact every player is influenced by jimi)

  • Silly, ultra conservative German TV show and a moderator that ask stereo type questions.

Here is a live tv show I worked with SRV in southern germany in 84'.

  • The camera people crew didn't know what they were doing.

  • I saw him twice, great shows.

  • 4.28 SRV Plays a so wicked and mean guitar that the camera man falls off the stage. xD hahahaha

  • i live in germany and i have to say: they dont have much great musician...but they can organize the best concerts and know what godd music is

  • always a jackass that has to hit the dislike button...

  • super thanks

  • haha yes!! that chick was totally grinding on Stevie! RIP brother

  • bless you for posting this. Missing you SRV.

  • genial

  • I saw this when it was being screened. At that time I was getting into Punk music, still listening to Blues. I thought 'Holy shit, what's this!?' and went and bought the record immediately, when it came out a little later.

I wonder if anybody ever notices that Stevie Ray was a bit of a Punkrocker - considering the energy and attitude in his playing. Plus all the different influences from Jimi to Surf and whatnot. That's what made him so unique and loved by a younger generation of fans.

  • fantastic historic ducument! Thanks for posting!

  • WTF!!!! At 4:43 some dude in the crowd looks at his watch!!!! YOU ALWAYS HAVE TIME TO WATCH SRV LIVE!!!

  • LMFAO i thoguht i heard arnold at like 0:11

  • holy balls !! ~~ where did you get this??

SRV at his very best !

  • Richtig Schön ... ein klasse Relikt aus den 80ern + ein blühender Stevie Ray noch vor dem legendären Rockpalast Auftritt.....Danke!

  • never understood why people used to say he was like Hendrix other than the fact that they were both awsome their sound was really nothing alike. When you heard Jimi you knew it was Jimi ,when you heard Stevie you knew it was Stevie.

  • Stevie I love you man wherever you are right now god bless.

  • cooleo

  • nice clip...awesome chemistry these three tommy and Chris driving the train and Stevie just being great along the way...hey this is one of the few times i've seen SRV without that long ash cig dangling from his lip.....

  • By the way, Bill Ramsey was not a famous singer/entertainer in Germany in the 50's. He only copied the good old RnR songs from overseas, the same way then all the other German schmaltzy song stars. The korrupt German radio station DJs played this kind of boring music around the clock, but the young people in Germany in the 50s bought and played the real RnR music of Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eddie Cochran, Elvis etc.

  • well you kind of misunderstand the time and situation back then

  • Dumble Overdrive here...

this was the small period he used one..pretty cool

  • just noticed hes acually playing in standard tuning here

  • Thank you so much for uploaing this gem!

I remember so well when I watched this on TV. I was 15, it was a boring Summer afternoon, this was a boring TV show -- until that strange guy with the funny hat came on stage and changed my live! I couldn't believe what I saw and heard.

After the first shock I started to really practice the guitar. Now I am a professional guitarist, just because I was so uncool at that time to watch a totally uncool TV show...

  • even though i love srv 7:45 is quite funny

  • what does it say on chris laytons drums?

  • hey you or something like that

  • Stevie looked really cold :S

  • Wow, was stevie really small or was the male host just a giant?

  • small

  • no stevie's like 5'5.

  • Stevie was probably pretty average, about 5'9" - 5'10" ... so the host is a big guy :o

  • @parigod Yes lolrotf probably both true!

  • Steve Ray Vaughan is the beast !

    Enough said.

  • How much do I LOVE Youtube? I am so glad you posted thisTHANK YOU...

People always compare Stevie with Hendrix, the thing we should bear in mind is that Stevie didn't...

Also, Iove Hendrix but I've seen somereally bad footage of him (and some incredible stuff too) but I have never seen Stevie having an off gig...

  • maybe he was not fooling round was drugs so much

  • LOL is that a joke

  • Notice while giving interview before the song starts he was wormin' up & ending the conversation. "There is only 1 J Hendrix"I liked that.

  • i always been into deep purple, led zep all the stuff my father listened to in the house, when i was about 15 i found the blues, then i found this guy and i do honestly love him. Bought a les Paul, found this guy and picked up a strat and well that was the end of it. BTW im only 18 now.

  • me too...i love Stevie...and my next guitar is going to be a strat.....n i am 17..........

  • SRV and Hendrix have nothing to do with each other. He's just a guy "Stephen Vaughan" who grew up with music, who was inspired by the best (Hendrix, the Kings, Lonnie Mack, Buddy Guy...) to cite a few. He mixed all he learned and loved to create "Stevie Ray Vaughan," a very unique performer. The BEST!!!

  • actually he is a little more influnced by hendrix than others

  • my idol. im 13 and i feel like an outcast at my school because im the only other kid whose heard of SRV, but honestly i HATEEEE stuff on the radio, love to play pride and joy on my strat XD

  • if only all the KIDS your age had taste like you!!!

  • If only all the kids your age had great taste like you!!

  • @Emmibubble

Keep on doin that, thats how the blues keeps alive!

I find it very cool a 13 year old loves SRV! Rock on!

    Will

  • @Emmibubble BRO SCREW THEM BE TRUE 2 YOSELF AND WOT YOU LIKE . MOST WOULDNT NO DECENT MUSIC IF IT CAME UP AND TAPPED THEM ON THE SHOULDER AND PUNCH IN THE FACE. I WAS A GROM WHEN I FIRST HEARD STEVIE BUT FELL IN LOVE WITH HIS SOUND AND STYLE. ILL BE 37 IN A COUPLE WEEKS. AN LOVE HIM STILL JUST AS MUCH NOW.

  • @Emmibubble That's because the radio has 'shit' stuff on it :P Except classical fm, I'm a metaller but that stuff got me :P

  • @Emmibubble That's because the radio has 'sh!t' stuff on it :P Except classical fm, I'm a metaller but that stuff got me :P

  • @Emmibubble fuck yeah dude.. mainstream makes my blood curl.

  • @Emmibubble Im from Argentina and its exactly the same in my school, I cant understand how blues became unpopular.

    RIP SRV

  • such thunder, such lightnin, man this guy was truly great, after hendrix there coulnt have come another to carry that torch it had to be him, and i mean that in all aspects, his character, his way of performiong, his showmanship, and ofcourse his playing, everyone else is great, but were tallking about the style of music and the roots originated talent, both him and Jimi felt music on a whole different level. And by the way...#1 does sound fantastic here.

  • "I'd say there's one Jimi Hendrix and not me"

god i love SRV. rip jimi and stevie

  • there's one jimi hendrix and i'm me

  • The crowd looks stunned, like an alien just landed. It's not an alien, it's SRV the greatest guitarist that ever played a guitar.

  • MY HERO

  • Stevie was a little shorter than I thought or either that german guy is really tall

  • Stevie was short, what german guy? Bill Ramsey is american

  • well whoever he is he is a lot bigger than Stevie

  • hahaha totally, nice info

  • stevie was a really small guy with quite freakishly large hands for his size.if you ever come across the pic of him and reese wynans the keyboard player from the band there really is quite a height difference but in saying that reese was a really big guy.

  • number 1 is smoken here:P

  • Number 1 was a phenomonal axe, but with all the abuse it sustained, it looked like number 2!

  • Stevies brother told Stevie that he was told there were 3 seats available on that Chopper. When they got there there was only one. So Jimmie told Stevie he could have it. It wasn't switched with Eric Clapton , However some of Claptons crew was aboard.

  • Pretty good quality, I was suprised. Gives me chills when Stevie looks into the camera. I feel like he's looking at me. :P

  • Awesome recording. Thanks for sharing. If you have anything else please post it!!

  • he looks so small in the first shot!

  • Stevie, for one thing is not a god, and secoundly he sure could play any guitar he would pick up, Stevie was a legend, and yes I'd love to have me a fender stratocaster as well. Stevie died middled aged in 1990, living us to soon. We all think god that he put Stevie Ray Vaughan on this earth so we can idolize after a great guitarist, and secoundly to listen to him play with his fender stratocaster. P:S BigSRV

  • Just Stevie Ray Vaughan Being Stevie Ray Vaughan here, he was, was so great, great. Stevie I wish he would come on TV

  • What's with your comments, dude?

    They make no sense whatsoever!

  • One of these days I'm gonna get a peacock tatt like Stevie had

  • it wasn't a peacock tatt. it was an eagle

  • Legendary.

  • I don't think Stevie has ever done a version of Pride and Joy that wasn't unbearably good - he's on fire!

  • THE BEST !!!!!! and as he said there was only one Jimi Hendrix and there was only one Stevie Ray Vaughan. Nuff Said

  • he's the reason I'm gettin' a stratocaster in a few months

  • good choice

  • same here man! mine will arrive in a couple of days=) sunburst with a rosewood fretboard=)

  • you watch this stuff all day, outstanding playing.

  • sounds like they had some sound issues

  • a god among men

  • Thanks for posting -- we can always use some more footage of Stevie. Man he was good!

  • if the sound of a guitar was a language stevie was the shakespeare of that language

  • Il migliore di tutti!!! THE BEST!!!

  • that pride and joy solo is just insane!

  • it wasn't just Stevie's playing that draws us its the heat and soul of the man. he was the REAL DEAL.

  • "THE DAY" the copter crashed!

  • to skitzofreddy---- "that day" wen stevie ray vaughan died was on 27th of august 1990, he is playing in this video in 1983.

  • thanks!

  • Stevie was simply the best and the coolest. Peace Stevie!

  • God, im sick of all these arguments/comparisons on guitar players. No 2 players are alike, we each have our own style of playing, i just like the fact there have been and still are so many good players, enjoy the music, thats what it's for.

  • Was this "THAT DAY"?

  • what day?

  • did Stevie dip?

  • nope that was SnowBlow brand cocaine in the conveniant cheek pouches

  • to all the Clapton/SRV blockheads ,if you dont stop this stupid sh.. i will delete this video, sorry Best harpsucker

  • Here here.

  • Well, it's pretty cruel to say Clapton should have been killed. What happened was obviously meant to be and there's no use trying to change it. But, I will say this, in my opinion, Clapton couldn't hold a candle to Stevie's guitar playing skills, energy and passion. He's just not as good in my mind...sorry to those who disagree...

  • i think much like my parents generation remember where they were when they heard JFK died my generation remember where they were when they heard SRV died. RIP STEVIE.

  • Stevie was great.. the fantastic thing about this tour was the Tommy Shannon matchup. I saw them, it was magic. Tommy's talent put Johnny Winter's best (recent) album where it needed to be, Third Degree. RIP Stevie with Duane, Jimi..

  • Stevei says"Clapton should haved taken the copter"

  • clapton should have flown the helicopter blinfolded by himself!!!

  • I'm no Clapton fan by any means, but I certainly don't wish he took the 'copter instead of Stevie. I just wish the damn thing woulda flew. RIP Stevie.

  • What cold shit, "Clapton should have taken the helicopter?" Nobody should have taken the fuckin helicopterClapton? Don't diss the guy he's done more for the blues than any other player around. If you don't like him at least respect him for what he has done to keep the blues alive, especially with the old guys. Look at his body of work, who compares? If you guys knew anything about music you would know these comments only disrespect Stevie Ray.

  • and another thing, Clapton has always been humble about SRV's talent.

  • "Clapton should have taken the goddamn helicopter" fourthed

  • Manthat's not nice to wish on anyone. We all wish it hadn't been SRV. Let's just wish the helicopter had never taken off, or that the pilot (who had 2 previous accidents on his record) had his licencerevoked....

  • "Clapton should have taken the goddamn helicopter"

    thirded

  • "Clapton should have taken the damn helicopter"

    I agree with you...

  • Clapton should have taken the goddamn helicopter

  • True, 90% of the sound is in the hands of the player...

Great video! Thank you great sucker of harps for sharing this with us!

  • stevie is god

  • outstanding! Love seeing him at this stage in his career! Raw talent, strength, unpolished ... thank you for posting this

  • stevie is a legend, long live the music and long live his memory

  • nice rarity....thanx!

  • dude hes in standard tuning thats pretty cool.

  • Stevie is awsome NOBODY will ever get his tone,it wasnt his equipment,it was him.It was how he approached the music not the guitar,He will live on forever!

  • true that stevie put everything he had into his playing. I dont think anyone will ever be able match the amount of heart and soul he put into his music

  • there is no use in saying something like that. mathmatically its impossible.

i mean your saying ther well NEVER!!! be anybody that could do it like stevie or better than him, but people were saying that about hendrix. so ther obviously will be

  • THANK YOU for posting this. RIP SRV :`(

  • Wow, such a rare treat! Thanks!

  • hey the fat dude's english is quite good xD

  • Hey! Vote for Stevie Ray Vaughan's induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2008 at http://www.futurerockhall.com/artist.php?artist_id=Stevie_Ray_Vaughn

  • i did vote...how is stevie not #1 on that list, this is bs
