  • Oops, been doing butt kicks wrong my entire running career.

  • best video i have seen so far.. on drills.. very informative..thanx a lot

  • I used to do running drills, then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • @orbitar88 youre fucking hilarious

  • so what she basically showed us. in this video are drills, how to run but these drills are not so effective at times.

  • is skipping like sprinting? and also what else is good for your abs.

  • okay dagan jud

  • Marathon dates back to the ancient Greece when a Greek man runs for miles only to inform the Greeks that the Persian invasion were repulsed in a battle known as the Battle of Marathon. unfortunately,i don't know the exact date it happened but i can recommend marathon athletes viewing this video complete marathon and half marathon training guides. plz contact me through ksatriakmal@yahoo.com if u r interested in marathon training.tq

  • I was wondering, should I do this before or after running? and how many reps should I do?

  • Great!!

  • Hi, I was wondering, how many times a week would you do this for and how long for each session. Also would this be good for longer distances such as 15 to 21 km's.

  • Thank Lauren! I'll give these a go. I jog with a little occasional sprinting, and tend to have tight piriformis and IT bands, which I think is due to form so I'm hoping this will help. Your thoughts?

  • Wonderful! Our track team, Cougar Track Club, uses these drills in our warm-up routine.

  • is it just me or is running slowly turning into a dance...

  • Another great free resource. Thanks Lauren, Ironman Tom and YouTube!

  • Beautiful form and posture while doing these drills.

  • will this get me faster?

  • Hi Lauren,

No big deal, but you said "Karaoke Drill", when you meant to say "Carioca Drill".

Have a GREAT season, and we'll look for you again at London in 2012!

  • how many times should i be doing these drills?

  • Looks like River Dance

  • Great drill demonstration! Thanks! Huggs Becky

  • Christophe Lemaitre is faster. :)

  • thanks for me motivation :). keep it up! :D

  • You know how many times has my trainer tried to explain these exercises to me I just can't get it. He also said that these are necessary to improve my running form, which I desperately need because I run very inefficiently. I'll keep trying, thanks for posting this video.

  • hey i was wounding, how often would you do drills a week? il do mine on a tuesday?..would you do them few times a week?

  • @MichealWeather I would do these drills as part of a normal warm up routine. A few times per week for sure

  • @ironmantom How many times would you repeat them?

  • @MichealWeather As an example, On a 25yd stretch I would do each drill down and back (50yds total) one time through before each workout.

  • @ironmantom is it true eating a honeybun like snack 20 mins before a run would prevent losing muscle, and just lose fat

  • @MichealWeather You were "wounding"? That's not even close to "wondering" you fucking moron.

  • @tempname11111 Fuck off you know there are sooooooo many people that just dont give a shit how they spell and 2 have someone say someone as irrelevant as that like seriously????? she knew what she was asking it was a typo god....trolls these days.

  • Lol I couldn't stop laughing. Every drill she does looks like a retarded dance!

  • nice tips

  • you have good quality moves. I run in a mountain, does this still work for me ?

  • @GIMGIMG She is also the two time XTERRA Trail Run National Champions, so yes, they would work for you...

  • This is really good.

  • thank you for the post... did these today and helped me with my run :)

  • thx for the drill. one question, how long do u normally do each drill at? 100m?

  • @cqy7lvxl I have always done them at about 25m

  • @ironmantom how many would you do for each one?

  • Watched it with the sound muted. Not a bad view ;)

  • thanks Lauren!! what a great vedio n details breifing!!

  • They key thing she said to me was at 2:02 till 2:15...all of the form stuff when doing these drills comes in time but most runners forget an easy basic as they get tired or in a "trance": keep your eyes and head up...not far back, just level...she is super smart, and really it is the basics that make her such a great runner!

  • I´ve heard if you incorporate one of these trainings once a week, you can better your 5k time with 20 seconds. sounds pretty insane if thats true.

  • Hey i like this kind of drills i think this really works in improving your speed in running

  • excellent drills!! Like'em all! Txh 4 the demonstration!! ;)

  • 1500? 5000? 10000?

  • Who is this? Sara Hall?

  • @TSBillards86 its Lauren Fleshman

  • She did not name that fifth drill, the one where it involves that fast lateral and slow forward motion with quick feet side to side. I'll make up a name, maybe SideSide Drill or something.

So, she outlines six drills ~ ~ ~ CARIOCO~~~HIGH KNEE w/SKIP~~~V SKIP~~~BUTT KICK~~~SIDE SIDE~~~and RUSSIAN DANCE. Awesome. Doing these it seems I can't help but increase my speed.

I have to view again to get the recommended meters or time for these. Thanks!

  • I basically call these the Stanford drills since Ryan Hall has similar drills in his training video.

  • She does a couple of small things so beautifully. I love her instructions.

  • I really miss monty python.

  • the drills seem so simple 'coz she's doing them so gracefully but it's actually quite challenging to do them with strict form. very helpful vid.

  • She is smoking hot and such a smooth, graceful athlete. (I'll be in my bunk)

  • Yeah, what does she know....she's only the

    ....2006 USA Outdoor 5,000m Champion; 2005 USA Outdoors Champs 5,000m runner-up; 3-time NCAA 5,000m outdoor champion (01, 02, & 03); collegiate record holder in 5,000m; 15-time NCAA All-American .....

Sure seems like she is pretty clueless? What do you know wildkaos626?

  • Sure he is entitled to his own opinion, but subjective criticism versus fact based results does not win this argument PixKidz!

  • Naa she's blatently clueless

  • @ironmantom Don't forget she's the 2010 US champion at 5000 meters!

  • @HouseofJello Nice Call!!

  • @ironmantom STFU. yes, what does she know. Tom Tellez knows A LOT more than her, with actual scientific basis. he would take her to school. Definitely clueless compared to Tellez.

  • @roxtar55 You telling me to STFU on my own video.....over something that was 11 months ago. Who the fuck are you? other than a total douchebag......

  • @MrWahoootribe That's right, mac. You know nothing about running. dumbass porch monkey.

  • @ironmantom You failed to mention that she is the two time and current XTERRA Trail Run National Champion - Half-Marathon.

  • @ironmantom lool nice response :D

  • She can be a great salsa instructor!

  • very good, thx that you did explain the expamles.

I did't know why I have to train like that in the past, but now it's clear :-)

  • Karaoke drill?

  • I think it's carioca.

  • thx

    this helps

  • nice last jump man thts up ther wiv the proffesionals keep it up!

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah there is an A Skip, which is like a circular motion, B Skip which is A skip but kick out and then a C Skip which is up and out

  • you know of any posting with those examples? thanks

  • I could show you the examples. I'll upload them to this youtube : alanmonty06

  • is the second one the A-Skip?

  • If you will...if there's B-skip, I assume there's skip A => there's only 2 skipping drills I know of.

  • This is very helpful. I think if I do these drills I can get my mile to sub 5. Thanks for the post ironmantom.

  • sign

  • Excellent video demonstration. One of the better ones I have seen on you tube.

  • She looks like and athlete and models the drills expertly. Good for novices and old hands...Well done.

  • Of course she looks like an athlete, she is Laruen Fleshman, probably done these drills a million times.

  • Excellent demonstration. Well done.

  • iRUN TRACK AND WE DO A lOT OF THESE THiNGS;;

  • LOL

like a friend of mine said in the shower after swim practice "what i need is a good cigarette now" lol

  • thx alot! this gonna help my kid smoke every one at little athletics! bwahahaha

  • the video is too squished. not proportionate.

  • Yea thoughs are very good. Cross overs are good also.

  • cool

  • This is an amazing video about the running drills. The girl explains everything in the most lucid manner!I thank the producers for this video as it is going to be of great help to us!

  • These drills are excellent! But I have drills and techniques that can make anyone world class. The training today is antiquated.

  • helps me before my sprints
