Simply put .. he was a shell of a man ..

BUT the words you used in your other comment were that Tai's death was sadder than dom's but in the heat of the moment during both deaths compare how you felt, you did not specify anything about how their lives went and what happened leading up to their deaths. Although Dom was a major character in Gears of War, it was my least favorite of Delta Squad and is death didn't meant alot to me unlike for exemple Tai's death (i would be more sad if it was either Baird or Cole Train to die). Sorry Dom fans, just expressing my feelings ;)

What made this beautiful? The simplistic variation of the original song to give the player utter disbelief and express one simple thing, he's gone. I'd never thought any major gaming corporation would raise a character from a backbone of novels, which I personally loved, and 3 games where a vision was put behind them, a game for men, something leaving the satisfying ability to go in-depth at your own will into the storyline. I'd never Gears will bring the fate to people that close to us. Thumbs.

Very emotional part of the game. It's one thing to view a movie and react to a powerful scene, but videos games aren't videos games anymore, they are more like interactive movies we participate in. These characters develop over the years we played with them. I think if a game can gasp you like that then the creators have done more than exceptional job on putting you in there with the story.

@zachANDthewolf The fact of the matter is that if you followed the story from the very beginning like so many of us did then you connected with the characters and associated memories with them. When you see Dom die as he sacrifices everything its almost equal to a family member dying at war. That is why we cry, that is why we love this game. These are the only games that make you feel something more than just playing a shooter. I'm not afraid to say that i cried in both gears 2 and 3, I'm human.

I see your point but Dom is someone that we have been learning about for 5 years now through books, games, comics, etc...We know (at least I do) almost everything about him. I know nothing about the soldiers that serve for our country. That doesn't mean that we don't respect them, it's just kind of hard to feel the same emotional effect for someone who you don't even know there name.
