This country is far too liberal. Its ridiculous how there is public outcry when the police shoot someone by accident. Whilst its sad that someone loses their life through an accident, you can hardly blame the entire police who are just doing their job and often in very facing very dangerous life and death situations. The number of such incidents where people are shot accidentally is extremely low compared to the number of firearm deployments the police carry out every year. Compare it to the US!
@cheseweezle94 Yes, this is the West Midlands Police Firearms Unit. Regular British police officers are not armed, specially trained armed units are deployed to firearm incidents.
I wonder if regular police officers in the UK get firearms training even if they don't regularly carry them. Personally I would hope that they do for emergencies that require them to carry. Incidentally the instructors should look at American training courses as well, thought they have different laws regarding firearms justification, it might shed light on certain similar situations police officers might face.
@schizoidboy police officers get training in ballistics cover and basic firearms cover and control tactics, the met have a contingency to arm all police officers within London should it be required, they have 60,000 firearms in storage and a 3 day course to train officers should an emergency situation arise.
I would never go to America for tactical advice on the use of firearms, they are rather more ad-hoc, and their justification is lower, due to diferent laws around firearms.
I didn't know any UK police used the P226.

@TheOliverGuyShow Some armed police officers use m4's, they are known as LMT defenders. Cheshire police use them.
