Awesome! Thank you so much. I can't wait to try this. I was having so much trouble trying to shirr on my Brother machine too. I will make sure to pull the elastic thread under the tension spring.
Thank you soooooo much! I was getting so frustrated with my machine, but your video worked wonderful! I guess I won't have to throw my machine out my window now :) Thanks again!
I have been wanting to do shirring for so long and never had success until now. I have a basic brother machine which works fine for what I do but Its so nice to be able add shirring to my list of things. Thanks so much for your tip its been a lifesaver.
OMG THANK YOU!!!! This help me out A lot!!! I was cursing a lot trying to figure out of tis works on my brother.. i have the XL3750 and it works!! The only thing is that the TENSION have to be at it's highest!
@Deebravea You are very welcome. Thanks for sharing that tip with your model. I figured with some models you'd have to do something different for the process to work.
It's past midnight and I've been working on this since around 8 pm. I have the summer sniffles, have been coddling our two year old who also has the sniffles, trying really hard not to bite the DH's head off and getting really, really frustrated...I am a total novice--but a determined one & had decided after four hours that it IS in fact the machine & not me (Arrogant much? lol) You are a life and thread saver (my half-spool should be plenty enough to finish the DD's little top!)
@inchanting You are so welcome. I am so glad I am able to help you. I hope you and your two year old get well soon and I'm sure your little top will turn out beautifully (I can see that determination of yours in your comment). And believe me, when something doesn't work it is sometimes the machine's fault, so you're not arrogant lol :)
FINALLY! I've tried every number of tensions and stitch lengths, tightening screws on the bobbin casing (did not work at all ), and all the advice people swore would work. None of it did any good. I was so frustrated....and then I watched this video. I only had a little bit of elastic thread left, so I tried it. After hours of cursing to myself, and wasted thread this worked like a charm! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!
Thank you so much for posting this video!! I just bought my machine last week and I am VERY much a novice. I want to use this technique to make a dress for myself but I have been too afraid to try especially since all the methods I've seen involve tinkering with the machine. I just tried this on a scrap of fabric and it worked beautifully!! I think I am now past my "sewing block " and ready to proceed with my dress!! Thanks again!
@pajmaz1 I am so glad this worked for you!! Yes, I've seen those methods too and they are absolutely disheartening. Good luck with your dress! I'm sure it will turn out beautifully!
