  • SSG Whit ... Your video should be presented to the Secretary of Defense or further for clarification to Gay and Hetrosexual Service Members. You appear very professional and obviously nervous about the presentation. Thanks for your service and brief on the matter of DADT.

  • @njneopatriot Not nervous just expressed as I went. The DADT training I received was mandatory for all service members.

  • Hopefully, one day gay Americans will receive the same benefits that straight Americans receive. It probably won't happen in my lifetime, but one day.....I wish that I could be here in the future when gay people learn about the way things are today and wonder how it could have ever been so. That is the day when true equality exists.

  • It's funny how the military won't recognized gay marriages, yet I know plenty of cases where straight people get married to any willingly person just to get paid more. So I guess having a scam marriage is more acceptable rather than a legit gay marriage.

  • @travisbavisss Yep I've had this conversation also. Many times over.

  • ...continued....A gay solider can place a picture of his/her companion on their desk if they want, date without fearing their career will be over if seen. The repeal of DADT has been accomplished.

  • Good video. However, like you stated, the US Federal Government does not recognize gay marriage so, why would the US Federal Government allow same sex union (only recognized in those states that allow such) benefits that heterosexual marriages (which is recognized by the federal government and EVERY state) receive? In my opinion, the repeal was to prevent/cease discharging soldiers because they are gay. DADT has been repealed, a solider can say their gay if they want...continue....

  • Wow! I was very impressed with your video, I am unaware of your sexual orientation, and I don't care. I respect you for serving our country and respect what appears to be some very good up bring from your parents and your respect for fellow service members regardless of their sexual orientation. I am a 43 yearold Male Married to a wonderful 55 year Male and we never thought that we would be able to marry in New Hampshire when we started dating and living together 10 years ago. some day equal.

  • Maybe in time it will be like the UK military - if your in a civil union you will get married quarters - now NY has marriage equality it will fold out across the other states - good post

  • I'm so touched by the many people (civvies and troops) who are in favor of the repeal of this stupid law!

    - gays are not sexual predators looking to anal rape all the men in the world, as some idiots like to portray us!

    - we are in fact and above else human beings, we all bleed red, we feel the same emotions etc.

  • Good video. I think the marriage policy on gay couples will change over time.

  • @GetTheHook Agreed, it only follows that it will.
