Hi there - I really enjoyed this video, and shared it with my father who reminded me that these pics cannot be from the construction of the Erie Canal. What canal are the photographs from? Thanks.
A glorius time in American history. My Great, great grandfather was a boat owner and shipper on the section of the canal from Attica, Indiana to Evansville and I have in my posession some bills of lading for wheat shipments from attica to Perrysville, indiana. William Smith Sr. was his name. Records exist in the Covington Indiana fountain county courthouse. recording these transactions.
Thanks for the pictures! The city I live in at one time was big on the Canal and outside of town there are parts still left with the water still in it.
Very well done. I dislike still photos on YouTube, but I must say, you did a great job with this. Photos, panning, and the music selection was top notch. Thank you!
thank you for this video!!!! i grew up near the Erie canal in central neew york and i know by watching how great of work ethic my ancestors had that thy must have worked their buts off digging that huge canal that my home city prospered from at one time

Your work is still seen from the North and the South
Cheers to the boys who toiled in their labor
Who helped bring fortune to cities and neighbors"

oooops I meant to say "moved over the border", to work on the Welland
Shoknifeman 1 year ago
Most of the original Erie Canal builders moved the border over to work on the first Welland Canal when the Erie was finished

Rough looking some of them. Wouldn't mind digging a canal but not with many of them.
