  • i love ur vids keep it up

  • @ak47BeastMode thanks

  • How good is yellow perch to eat?

  • @txdurk many consider perch to be the best eating of all freshwater fish

  • we often fish for jumbo's on lake erie, canada side by erieau ontario... had our best season this past summer.. we were bringing in 2 and 3 man limits in 1 1/2 - 2 hours, all 10" - 14"... double headers, non stop action... was a blast... can't wait for ice fishing season now... good video guys.. what size boat you in ??

  • @justinmellerbe if your from anywhere up north a fresh water drum is a sheep head if your from down south a sheep head is a sheep head or oyster cracker. ive fished for both i know what im talking about

  • holy crap look at those perch, and theyre constantly big, over here in the seattle area id be happy to get one of those on top of our usual dink 8 inchers lol

  • @ 4:01 you caught a White Perch, they are invasive to Lake Erie and taste great, give em a try. By taking them out your helping to improve native fish species because they eat their eggs.

  • 6:00 the fish hit the side ahaha

  • great video!

  • Great video guys. But those arent sheepshead, their fresh water drum. They are a blast to catch and great to eat too.

  • @justinmellerbe thanks man

  • @justinmellerbe drum and sheephead r the same thing

  • @justinmellerbe Those are sheep head fresh water drum same thing

  • @m283mark Fresh water drum and sheepshead are not the same fish sheepshead actually live in salt water with 5 to 6 dark bars on the side of it's body.

  • @justinmellerbe some people call them sheepshead. Dunno why?

  • @justinmellerbe theyre the same thing dude

    nice fish guys

  • @KidODeath500 Mike was vomiting over the side - he had a rough night and the lake was rougher

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE owww tell mike i said i feel his pain

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE We call that Chumming..

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE that sucks!!!

  • Dude I was fishing at the pier and caught 14 inch perch

  • @legoman844 we cant do that anymore with the bait restrictions in newyork but the bait shops do.

we used to dip them and freze them in a bag of salt

  • guys keep those perch?

  • @FishOnFishing perch are the best tastin fish

  • eewww sheep head lol

  • eewww sheephead lol

  • what kind of minnows were you using?

  • @rainez12345 emerald shiners

  • @alexsmudde i live rite next to it to the beach

  • Our perch limit is 50 here in Michigan and it isn't uncommon to get twice that many keepers

  • @Foxbrosracing33 you can get how many perch you want i read in the dnr book since i live in michigan and it said unlimited idk if its 50 or not but oh well i catch and release anyways

  • @alexsmudde i've been out there 3 miles in a 12 ft jon boat

  • what you guys using? worms? minnows?

  • @URWAOC minnows

  • Yeah ! cheap and easy to use , the pickerel rig is used all over the countries !

    Great vid guys

  • do you guys live close to erie?

  • @jtschid0910 we live on the outskirts / suburbs of buffalo ny which is on the eastern most end of erie

  • do you guys live close to erie?

  • do you guys live close to erie?

  • nice here in chicago our pearch limit is only 15 per license

    nice fish

  • good video nice fish

  • how do u make dropshot rigs

  • drop shot rig is basically a hook tied directly to the line with out a leader above a sinker or split shot

  • Same with my grandma

  • Really Nice Boat. Me and my grandpa want to buy a boat like that one.

  • aint that nice - my back hurts and i can barely walk after pounding the waves

  • ha i live in ohio i live like 10 minutes from lake erie haha

  • Thanks thats going to really help me,my dad,and my brother. Going to Lake Erie in April. Staying at South Bass Island. Just a little bit north of Port Clinton,OH. Thanks again.

  • What were you using for bait?? What lures/jigs were you using.

  • just salted emerald shiners on drop shot & crappie rigs

  • you should try to catch these on light tackle :) i wonder how those 14 and 15 inchers would fight on that!!!

  • Awesome video! I wish I could fish for huge perch!

  • wow erie has got some lunker perch. Tasty without filleting 15 fish! nice video!

  • hey bill how do you filet your perch? like what do you put in your batter?

  • we just fillet em regular and skin them - i been using the shore lunch batter i got at gander mnt

  • yeah its one hell of a fishing spot all year round ...i bring a few cigars, 6pack of beer, and im in my glory lol.

  • i meant to ask you, do you do any pike fishing of any sort? this summer, mid july down at Braddocks, we were getting a ton of pike, we catch and release. Even got myself a nice 36 incher on a shiner.

  • we do some pike fishing on ice with the tip ups and shiners - definitely have to check out that bay this winter

  • oh jesus... yeah i usually do a lot of ice fishing at Irondiquoit...one buddy told me to hit up Braddocks Bay for ice fishing, if you know where that is, and really caught some nice jump perch and crappie.6

  • thanks-i'll have to look up that braddocks bay -we usually make a few road trips to new places every winter

  • man without a doubt my favorite videos of fishing online. you guys are great, love me some perch, delicous. Seen your ice fishing video for perch out on irondiquoit bay, great ice fishing there, and its great at Braddocks Bay also... noticed mike used a wax worm, never seem to have any luck with them lol.

  • thanks man,

wax worms are usually better for crappie & bluegill but that day the bigger perch seemed to prefer them over the minnows.

got to make it back to irondequoit this winter but i'm a little nervous - the following week after the ice fishing video i took my brother and he fell through a couple hundred yards from shore

  • man love your videos i live on the western basin in port clinton the walleye capital of the world....i was wondering what rod you would recomend for walleye fishing????

  • thanks,

I'm really not that knowledgeable a walleye angler.

i was using my 11 ft steelhead rod drifting and my 8.5 ft uglystick catfish rod trolling .

  • wow you are getting so good at making videos. you should have your own t.v.v show. I like how you have the perch facts in the captions. very perfessional and the little animation before that. nice job

  • thanks fishinghunter

  • i have a question, when fishing on big lakes like erie and ontario far out, how do you locate the fish? fish finder?

  • first we look for a certain depth that consistently produces fish then we search with the fish finder

  • Any tips? I've almost always fished on inland lakes far up north and small local ponds, but never large lakes (which is suprising as I live really close to lake Ontario). Also when fishing for perch, what'd you guys use? Lures/bait

  • got a big perch today

  • i caught a 15 incher today

  • that's a massive perch - my bro got a 15 incher a while back

  • awsome vid

  • whats the point of this flippin video it sux balls

  • does it need to have a point douchebag

  • i finally found those crappie rigs! they work woders except all i catch on em is tiny walleye about 7 inches long

  • I would lov to go fishing with you and your family what an adventure thst would be

  • at lake erie.. PORT MAITLAND, i caught 2 pound perch it was great

  • I've heard Perch taste really good.

    This true?

  • I live in Cattaraugus, NY. lake Erie can go from calm, to 5 foot waves in minutes. 1 1/2 miles out in a small boat is not for me.

    Nice fishing though.

  • @makemydaytoday What size boat do you use or suggest?

  • ahah mike got sea sick :)

  • Thanks man. I love those big yellow pigs. Good eats.

  • do you guys find a hole or weedbed and then just jig the bottom with minnows.

What sort of structure do you find produces the best?

  • we fish the deep flats 52-60 ft ,no structure -we drift or look around with the the fish finder till we mark a school then anchor -but sometimes we look for a group of boats that already found some fish-its a big lake

  • do you fish from the NY side of lake erie?

  • most of the fishing we do is in western newyork

  • i think you should try fishing the fingerlakes I live in Naples, just south of canadaigua lake and we go ice fishing for the "night bite" of perch which is excellent fishing for the last 1/2 hr of light

  • i heard theres some nice perch in the finger lakes bot thats like a 2 hr ride

  • what does yopur rig look like

  • hard to describe -pre packaged crappie rigs with the 2 hooks

  • im goin on staerday to lake erie

  • i cant wait im goin to lake erie on a charter boat and catching yellow perch too ... cant wait

  • here in wisconsin its a 5 per day limit on lake michigan, and 25 inland for panfish... but almost all the ones we catch are between 13 and 17 inches on lake michigan

  • Can't get enough of these/ your video's haha

we used to nail jackperch and also those steelies we like,,, fishin the shores and a dock/pier whatever...out of artpark in Lewiston.

    hilariousl!SHEEEEPHEAD!? classic!

    oh that's a slob!

  • nice :D

  • Those were some FAT perch! We got out for a little perchin one evening on our Lake Michigan salmon trip. Caught them on live minnows in 40-45 ' water. None as big as what you guys are catching though! I'd take that cooler of fish anyday. Good job guys!

  • chicago's limit is 15.......so f u all

  • NY limit is 50? huh, ND has 80 limit

  • 80 -thats a lot of fish to clean

  • yeah 80 is alot but it's rare to ever get more than 10 where i go

  • i usually get 25-35 perch a day, one time i got more pike than perch... i got 5 perch and 8 pike, kept the 3 biggest pike and only 2 perch were keeper size

  • what time of year are yellow perch at there biggest? the perch i caught the other day were only 5/6 inches

  • the perch are biggest just before spawning march/april

we get small ones shallow-big ones are way out deep

  • what time of year are perch at there biggest size? i can never catch one bigger than 5/6 inches

  • wow NY perch limit is only 50? in north dakota it's 80 same with white bass, but i'm blessed to catch 2 white bass a day lol, they are damn near impossible to catch

  • our limit is 30 perch.

  • Great video!!

  • great video!! perch are about the best eating fish in fresh water!

  • we went fishing on an in-land lake in Wisconsin and caught a few real nice perch (considering it was inland lake) largest was 11.5 inches...

great fishing and they tasted great to thats for sure

  • 17 FT

  • thats actually a perfect size it not to small

  • always wanted to fish erie but never got up there... cool vid

  • THANKS

  • Nice video, perch fishing is always fun and lots of people love to eat them. I'd say perch is the most sought after fish where I live. 8-12 inchers are good perch here, I prefer northern pike or walleye though. :)

  • thanks -perch-pike or walleye its all good to me- i dont like trolling though

  • Mikey sure looked green around the gills...Ive been there done that..I would love to get some of those perch bill but my boat is still out of commision im getting very frustrated...

  • it took a while but mike finally lost his breakfast over the side of the boat - i always fish on an empty stomach.

that sucks about the boat man ,you just got that thing

  • Nice to see other anglers enjoying these under appreciated game fish.

I love perch, my grandfather and I always fish the St. Lawrence river for them.

  • perch are much appreciated up in these parts

  • Bill, went out the same day. Took my son off Sturgeon Point, said 1-3', got out there with 4-6 footers. Went out around 9am. Didn't catch anything. He was turning green so we got out of there, couldn't get the anchor to hold either. Some nice perch. Got 140 in June (6 of us in 2 boats) that was off Pt. Abino. Heading out this weekend, probably off the Catt this time. Good luck... by the way, you're becoming the "Sheephead Man".!!!!

    -craig

  • sheephead man!!!- thanks LOL

i seen the video of the 140 -i'd love to hit a day like that but i wouldn't want to clean that many

we got out on the lake around 7 am -mike made it about 4 hours before he was hanging over the side of the boat - nautical forecast called for waves 2 ft or less when i checked the day before

    good luck
