@patrickills22 a lot of things can happen in a year. Halo took place only 3 hours after the end of Halo Reach. Halo 1 went on for a period of about 2 weeks and Halo 2 was 2 months after that.

This could also be Linda, the member of Blue Team who died on Reach. John saw that her vital signs had flatlined and froze her in cryo for the chance of reviving her later.
In Halo: CE Anniversary, you can actually go into the observation window of the adjacent cryo chambers. On the screen of either observation chamber, you can see Linda's readouts on the wall, but her vitals are flatlined and her status otherwise is unknown.

@jon3to5 I really doubt it. I don't think Bungie cares enough to put a character from the novels(I do love them, and hope we see some characters in Halo 4...but I doubt it) in the game, and we know for a fact the Chief is on the Pillar.
BUT I actually just started reading through the novels again(like the 4th time - there's so much to memorize I have to read them once in awhile), I will be sure to note where Linda gets put in cryo.

so he really is master cheif becouse all spartans known to be alive at the time died on reach exept spartan 117 (master cheif) the reason all the spartans were on reach is becouse the spartan II project was on reach. so jun must have died... master cheif was on the piller of autamn. therefore there was no known fact of any other spartans alive.. exept master cheif. ( halo game time line --- halo wars--halo reach-- halo CE--halo 2-- halo 3--) thats the order of games in the correct timeline :)

With a strong possibility of another 9 Spartan II's & 2 more Spartan III's, and there are some people who think the rest of Spartan III's in Gamma Company are alive which would mean another 285 of them are out there. John-117 is called the Master Chief because that is his rank (E-9 or E-10) & he's not the leader of the Spartans that would be Fred-104 who's a Lieutenant (0-2).

ok all of u guys are retarded ifu guys played all the halo games including halo wars then u would have read the timeline.. reach occured before halo 1 ( when reach fell all known spartans were THOUGHT to have died on reach protecting the package(cortana). when the piller of autamn took off into space they lost the covenant and the last know spartan(spartan-117) or also known as master chief was ONE OF THE LAST spartans KNOWN to be alive. as for jun he probably died protecting hasley----PART 2^^

@JosephChrist863 Errelevant. Reach, Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo Three all happend in the same Year of 2552. Harvest happend Twenty Years before the Halo Event, so that fits your description better. Also, the ending of Halo Reach is completely False. The Autumn was said in the Book to be in Orbit close to a Space Platform while the Master Cheif and Linda destroyed a NAV Terminal.

It was awaiting Linda and John while they were on a Docking Station deleteing NAV Data for Earth. Then they found Private Wallace Jeinkens and Sargent Johnson. Then later there Linda was Wounded. So it could be chief or linda cause those are the only spartans on the autaum! But you ant tell cause they have the same helmet (i think... If not then its chief) and the colour appears green or yellow and im not sure what color linda is... But in anniversery it says lindas life support is failing so she is either dying dead or she got out of cryo just in

@prestonator5000 If I remember right the game doesn't follow the actual storyline to the Halo series, but it is true that this event took place before the first Halo game (just told completely different), there was even a video of the interview with the developers, they said so as well, along with "people having a chance to see Spartan III's", and it's been a long time since I read the book, but what I remembered was Chief, Linda, and James were in space during the fight...
