Without giving away the film, it illustrate that allowing oneself to be powerless for a long period of time, while projecting the cause of that powerlessness towards another person with hate and resentment, can lead to the kempt internal chaos expressing itself in a futile disaster. It is very lengthy for a sudden yet clever ending. However, this was in an era different from today's desire for the immediate media satisfaction. Still, it is highly enjoyable and suspenseful throughout

  • Let me reveal the ending for you: it's a dinosaur swimming in the pool.

  • @isocrate27

I thought it was the zombie apocalypse. Actually, in a way it is.

  • No, the scariest movie ever made (and it's been proven) is Jacob's Ladder. It nearly made me shit my pants.

  • @DogsHelpAndSupport Jacob's Ladder? I've never heard of it- when was it released? I personally think you can't get anything creepier than "The Innocents" (1961), a film which really messes with your head, because it shows NOTHING awful, but subtly suggests all sorts of nameless horrors, possibly of a sexual nature. 5 stars.

  • @TiocfaidhArIa It was released it 1990, director is Adrian Lyne.

I like the "Diabloiques" too much.

  • All the older horror films are sooooo much more scarier than all the modern horrors today I think

  • was deciding upon whether to watch this.. or a disney film in french..before i sleep

from the sounds of it...i think i'll stick with disney tonight... and watch this during the day

  • They don't want to reveal the ending, because it's best part of movie. I've enjoyed 107 minutes in this film! :)

  • I watched this film alone at 2 in the morning.

Before - "It's from the 50's. How bad could it be?"

    After - "AAAAAAAGH!!!!!"

  • @BeatenAndTortured Actually, films of 1950's are better than modern films.

This was the film where Clouzot outperformed Hitchcock. Although Hitchcock made good films, too, this film alone costs all Hitch's films. IMHO.

  • -small clip

    -random quote

    DON'T REVEAL THE ENDING

^repeat 20 times and you got the trailer

  • @connorreis Yes there is. Craps all over the US remake (as usual)

  • Does anyone know where I can find this music? I LOVE IT!

  • they really don't want you to reveal the ending. lol

  • ...fiendish! the only film ive ever actually screamed at.

    brrr.

  • @readtherightbooks The only film made me finally decide to make my own full length feature movie. Shot on 35 mm, with actors, based on 3 stories by some writer, and sold to some company. No way back. Clouzot has made the Masterpiece. To my mind, it's difficult to make something better.
