Don't let the look fool you. While it may look like a toy it is unbelievable powerful. Sonoio released a couple tracks that were exclusively made on the OP-1 and they are absolutely top notch. Give the Teenage Engineering SoundCloud page a listen to see some examples of the flexibility and sound quality of device.
its looks an amazing device but its way too overpriced. Im pretty sure that they put a lot of work into this and that is prob why. But Im hoping for a better, cheaper version in the future. Looks too raw.
Hey Dwight Schrute created a synth on his beet farm. Somebody please tell him that we cannot finance his agricultural endeavors with this overpriced plaything
Interesting synth. I like the tilt(?) feature very much - does anyone know of any other synths that have this? Great for expressive moves during performance. Don't like the price very much, it shouldn't cost any more than a standard Iphone or netbook.
@iswearshes18 wow....so is it out know? or is it been out? The only reason I would get it is so I can imitate the begining of the song "one" from swedish house mafia.
@Inkv7 Yea it is available to buy, but I saw some "tech expert", Joshua Topolski, talk about it on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon this past Monday and he said that it costs $800, but on the Teenage Enginering website, where its sold, it says $850, and it does sell out a lot, so you have to keep check on it.
DUDE!!!! Buy a korg for less money and more sound. Idiots will buy this crap b/c it was in the swedish house muffia vid... 3 fagets themselves... axwell, angello and ingrosso super big cawks with little peepees.
the screen is cool but unnecessary, yet this little wannabe casio needs it to have something over other products. are you guys serious 799 dollar for this? man i could buy a REAL synth with that kind of money...
It would be nice as a controller as well, so to say it belongs in toy's R us is simply not very smart. the design is elegant and the build is lasting.
Novation Ultranova does more in every way. and cheaper. but to be honest most synths can do more! disappointed. someone explain what all the hype was about?
@aznfuu11 The OP-1 looks like a toy. But it is extremely powerful. I had a client bring one into my studio and I must say that I am extremely impressed. I would easily pay $1000 for one of these devices.
nope they Suck in Person , cannot create alot of sound , the 8 synth engines only make like 30 sounds tops , plus effects , should be 200 dollars sold at Toys R Us
@gmangigson to each's own man ( some people still make music with very old things i would never use ) but music is an art , and because some may not like the mona lisa , doesnt mean its not art or its not good ..
so have fun with what ever you like ...
Most important thing is to sit in the music store with your product for days before you buy .. i wasted a lot of money on a MPC .. now im trying to sell it for 20% of the cost ...
@JSprayaEntertainment Very wise advice. Thats pretty much what i did with my korg, now im trying to get at least some type of modular system do put it through. it seems that you can start with one sound, but then hook up a bunch of other devices that tweak and modify the sound in their own way and end up giving you a sound thats awesome though very hard to recreate.
@JSprayaEntertainment Really? I wanna make music like Skrillex and all those type of dj's. But I don't know what to buy yet. Could you give me a list ? It would help a lot!
@ltlrenati skrillex makes more house than dubstep. well i know his most famous songs are house. then again last time i bought a skrillex record he made DnB. such an odd person.
8 synth engines including sampler and drum machine, built-in effects, step sequencer, 4-track "tape" recorder, 24/96 signal path, 16hr battery life and USB connectivity! Nothing else remotely like this out there. Love it!
This is'nt just an overpriced Casio, it's a pretty inuative groovebox with loot's of goodies. I pretty hooked with the sweet colorcoded UI and the tape efx.
I guess OP-1 would be better as an iPad App than a overpriced hardware synth. Those small keys are unplayable anyway, thought I hope the nice looking GUI will find it's way into more useful instruments.
seems like a korg nano kontrol remaked into korg nano nano feat sesamo street
