Sorry but to believe this explanation is a person has to ignore: all the testimony from civilian and military sources who were interviewed in the late 80's to 90's; the governments changing story as to what went on in 1947; that all records from the Army-Air base in Roswell from that day have vanished ( leaving questions unanswered ); current scholarship from researchers like Joseph Farrell who thru freedom of information act requests concludes that the U.S. acquired German anti-gravity research
I don't know why it took me fifteen years to get to this story. But now I know what happened back then. Thank you.
Oh and about aliens: it is more likely they'll be something like bacteria or plants and we are the ones to go out there and visit them. Who knows what we will know in 20 years time ...
there should be a warning on this video. "Warning! Viewing this lecture may cause severe Face Palm injury. Face Palm events due to this lecture have been detected by the remnants of the SOFAR dectection grid. Viewers should don protective thick, high density foam rubber gloves."
Since this is your channel you decide if you want the conversation to be stopped or not. I know that others read the comments, even if we are not on a forum. Why take it away from here if this video is the perfect chance to discuss the topic. But it's your choice.
Btw, re the sound channel. I would think that the waves travel across the whole surface of a sphere bounded by the radii of the sound channel, i.e. not only into two directions. So the energy loss would be a bit more than 50 % ?
I appreciate your passion and I don't mean to come across as dismissive, but I think the significant difference between us is what we consider sufficient evidence.
The reason I haven't addressed your claims about the witnesses is because anecdotal evidence is not sufficient for me to accept such an extraordinary claim. Even if these reports are from honest and reliable witnesses, it's irrelevant. It may sound dismissive, but anecdotal evidence is worthless.
I could go on about the fallibility of perception and memory, the tendency to see false patterns and all the reasons I have the standard of evidence that I do, but that would be a long conversation in itself.
Youtube comments are a very poor medium for a conversation of this depth and the multiple directions that it inevitably leads into.
I'd be fascinated to find out that there really was alien life visiting our planet. I'm not ideologically opposed to the idea or anything.
I'm not saying that I can prove that there aren't aliens visiting the Earth, I'm just saying that I'm not yet convinced that they are.
Regarding the claim that Ufology is a science, frankly that's just not true. Where are the peer-reviewed scientific papers on alien research? Science requires empirical physical evidence and repeatable verifiable observation. Even if true, these claims are not scientific.
So I'm not sure where we can go from here. I don't think it would be worth your while outlining all the anecdotal evidence you have, since it's not the kind of evidence I'd accept.
I could explain in more detail why I reject this sort of evidence as inadequate, or there are podcasts and books I could recommend, but I suspect that's not what you're looking for here.
If you're interested in further discussion, maybe we could take this to a forum better suited to this depth of conversation.
as I said. The evidence exists but it's not available for us. What I mean by it has become a science is that there are indeed scientists who analyze video footage with scientific means (like application of trigonometry, sound, color, movement analysis and so on). The analysis is available for other scientists to review it and that's also done. Perhaps not on the scale as it's done in physics but it's a developping science. A lot of physicists involved there, btw. Ck MUFON for example.
with the kind of attitude you have (I can understand it to some extent) people probably won't make progress if it comes to UFOs and aliens because it seems that ''their'' prime directive is not to interfear with our development. They seem to be worried about certain things like nuclear weapons and betimes they show that they are there and that they care. I doubt they would have ''allowed'' WWIII, to put it in other words. So the physical evidence you're looking for may not be available for ...
a long time. But if nobody would care or try to analyze what we have then it would be a pity because if they are around and we don't notice them, that would be like ignoring an important hint for life in the Universe. So, Ufology should be accepted as a science even though we only deal with indications. But isn't that what the guys from CERN are doing, too ? They are only trying to verify their THEORIES and call that science even though there is NO evidence that their theories are correct.
perhaps we should put more trust in people like Cooper, Mitchell and the other folks who cleary come around as serious people with genuine intentions. Just imagine that what they say IS true but we ignore them because they cannot show us a dead alien or an alien spaceship. So what I hope is that you take a closer look at what's available and maybe you'll change your mind because I can't imagine you wouldn't if you knew what I already know.
Radar observations have been made of objects that were definitely no aircraft and no natural phenomena due to the fact that these objects made maneuvers which defy known physics (acceleration with 40 g, right angle turns during high speed flight etc). The fact that these things occur not only once but several times in different locations with very similar patterns and striking commonalities excludes RADAR malfunction. All of this IS evidence - not in the form of an alien spaceship - but
take Greifswald for example. I can give you authentic video footage links (if you don't want to look it up). The sighting has been discussed, also by astronomers. They were NOT able to explain away certain issues. What's even more striking is the similarity to the St. Petersburg sightings which definitely excludes ball lighnings or flares as an explanation. There are plenty of reports of pilots ''chasing'' UFOs. For example in Belgium 1990 (a very popular example).
i.e. confiscated evidence in the form of photos and videos. It amazes me how you avoid certain topics always maintaining your standpoint. I've mentioned names, incidents, events and reasons why astronomers don't observe UFOs but you (seem to) ignore all of that. You can't explain it away, so you don't mention it. But just because you haven't seen a UFO for yourself or because you don't believe it doesn't mean they are not here.
pilots and astronauts ARE experts. These objects don't look like space ships in Star Wars or in the movies. Often they are just ''lights in the sky'' which if you look at them only for a few seconds will certainly be interpreted by astronomers by airplanes. But Ufology has become a true science. You can't say anymore that it's not genuine. As for evidence: I don't think that aliens who (obviously) want to stay in the background are willing to give us physical evidence. But there is evidence ...
I correct myself: politicians are not necessarily credible ppl :D But the other ones are. Ck out the Rendlesham incident. Those guys even touched an alien space craft or were standing right in front of it.
Cooper's film roll was confiscated by his superiors. I wonder why they would confiscate them if what he had seen were just misperceptions ?
I've had only ONE sighting in my whole life which I couldn't explain and those objects I saw were definitely under intelligent control. I know what Iridium flares are, I've seen many meteors, I know natural atmospheric phenomenas very well ... so it's not that I won't be able to distinguish things ;-)
3. believe it or not. But there are many indications that ''they'' know exactly when someone is looking at them from the ground.
Astronomers don't only look at the sky through telescopes. They look up at the sky with the naked eye too, more often than non-astronomers and probably more than they do with telescopes.
The assertion that astronauts and pilots can identify all naturally occurring phenomena is dubious. They just aren't experts in that field.
At best, what we have are unexplained sightings. Unexplained means unexplained not alien spacecraft.
And there's no physical evidence. So I'm skeptical.
to be sceptical is okay. But sometimes being TOO sceptical doesn't help anyone. Well, I'm no professional astronomer even though I have two small telescopes and I watch the sky regularly, too. As I said, most of the ''sighting'' are NOT authentic (fake, hoaxes), especially on YT. So I'm not surprised at all that astronomers (you know all of them ?) don't observe these things too often. Also, they may simply not be interested in it. They are certainly NO experts on aircrafts.
1. UFOs are very rare. Usually they appear in certain locations that have something to do with nuclear technology. The AUTHENTIC sightings by usual people are very rare. A few I know of which have been unexplained are for example the Greifswald sighting (St. Petersburg was very similar !) or the sightings in 1952 over Washington.
2. astronomers usually look into space. I didn't know that they observe the atmosphere that much. Wouldn't their telescopes be somewhat out of focus if they ...
excuse me, sir. Have you read my comment ? These are highly credible people (astronauts !, high ranking AF personnel, pilots, even politicians are among them). They CAN distinguish military aircraft from non-identifier CRAFT (not natural phenomena). These crafts do flight maneuvers that clearly indicate they are under intelligent control (the famous ''playing'' with pilots). There are several reasons why astronomers don't see them (perhaps some have I don't know) ...
what about the statements made by Dr. Edgar Mitchell (former Apollo 14 astronaut) and Gordon Cooper who was the last person to orbit Earth alone ? Mitchell confirmed that the UFO Roswell story was true. Cooper even filmed the landing of an alien spacecraft. Don't believe it ? Ck YT and you'll find out. Are these highly credible people all liars ? Btw, it isn't only these two guys ;-)
Well I think the idea that they're either correct or lying is a false dichotomy. They could just be mistaken.
The problem is that human perception and memory is not as reliable as we'd like to think. That's why we can be fooled by things like magic tricks and optical illusions. This is why extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and there isn't anything beyond anecdotes.
There are anecdotes from scientists who say they've seen mystics like Sai Baba create gold out of thin air.
If there really were alien spacecraft in our skies, the people who would see them the most would be astronomers.
However, they are among the least likely to report UFOs. These are the experts in identifying phenomena in the sky.
How can we explain this discrepancy, except with the idea that these UFOs are just misidentified unusual natural atmospheric or stellar phenomena? Or that most astronomers all over the world, even amateurs, are part of an absurdly vast conspiracy?
I liked the physics content of this lecture and it's easy to understand. But how come that just because it works it explains what ''really'' happened at Roswell ? Okay, if that were true, I have to ask you what were the secret discoveries of physics at Rendlesham, Malmstrom AFB, Vandenburg AFB etc etc ? All the time UFOs landed there or destroyed the electronics of nuclear weapons there was another clever monkey who invented something top secret ?! now c'mon. That's naive. I don't buy it
blackholes and wormholes bend space and time,so its possible they are using something that produces that power, therefore it wouldnt take them very long at all, we are studying stuff like that at cern right now, cant imagine what a race of beings would have thought of that are thousands of years more advanced then us.
AV, for one thing, that's not what they're studying at CERN. They know that they'd need FAR more energy than they're using to create a wormhole, and the blackholes they're making are microscopic and last for fractions of a nanosecond.
As I said, if you want to propose FTL, like using a wormhole, that requires TREMENDOUS energy. E=MC^2 for the aliens too. Don't you realise that adding on contradictions to the known laws of physics to your case makes it harder to believe, not easier?
I mean you're suggesting that they're so advanced that they can practically overcome the law of conservation of energy itself, cross thousands of light years by bending the very fabric of space and time themselves, and then they fuck up on entry into Earth's atmosphere and crash.
Are they hyper advanced or incompetent? Which is it? You're can't have it both ways.
If you want to contradict the known laws of physics, you'd better have something better than eyewitness bloody testimony.
Your contradicting your self in just one paragraph, first you say thats not what they are studying, then next it all of sudden does have to do with black holes but they just dont have enough power, how do you go from not at all to not enough power? I think you dont know what your talking about, it has everything to do with black holes.
I think its really stupid to say thats not what they are studying then in the same damn paragraph they are making small ones. Watch david serda videos on the nasa teither incident, you might learn something.
AV, the problem is that the world black hole is being used to refer to two very different things. The microscopic ones that instantly evaporate in a puff of Hawking radiation are the ones that might be produced at CERN, and the huge ones that form from dying stars.
You said they could use wormholes or black holes for their interstellar travel. That would require the larger type if it was even possible. So the point is that they are not studying the type of black holes you're talking about.
And you ignored my other points. You're asking me to ignore known physics in favour of eyewitness testimony.
Anecdotal evidence is worthless. We have anecdotal evidence of all kinds of bullshit. Like the loch ness monster, bigfoot, ghosts, psychics, astrology, homeopathy, astral projection, angels and demons, revelations from various gods, conspiracy theories, and miracles of every religion and cult. If you looked into any of those, you'd find tons of anecdotal evidence for those. It's crap.
Where's the physical evidence? Where's the pieces of alien spacecraft, or alien tissue? Where's anything that isn't someone saying "ooh I can't identify that thing in the sky it must be an alien spaceship!"
If you don't understand why eyewitness reports are meaningless, you need to learn more about the fallibility of human perception and confirmation bias. Ever experienced an optical illusion? Or seen a magic trick? People are easily fooled, especially by things they WANT to be true.
how much evidence do we leave behind when we are spying on enemies, and we are thousands of years less advanced, Some of them could be from the 4th dimension and you wouldnt even know they were there lol jk
They have to start somewhere, i think what they find there will prove me right more than you. your trying to stick words in my mouth, i never said they were making that big of black holes, ever, i said they are studying them.
"how much evidence do we leave behind when we are spying on enemies, and we are thousands of years less advanced"
But that's not an answer to the skeptic's challenge. That's saying, it's true because there's no evidence for it.
I'm not saying that alien visitation is impossible, I'm just saying that skepticism is reasonable in the absence of sufficient evidence. Do you at least accept that skepticism isn't an unreasonable position in this case?
I've seen things in the sky I couldn't identify, I just don't understand how you can go from that to the conclusion that it's an alien spacecraft.
Do you know what group of people look at the skies more than anyone? The group of people who are expert at identifying objects in the sky? The group that reports UFOs far less than anyone else if at all?
Astronomers. Surely they'd be seeing more UFOs than anyone, but they know how to identify celestial objects. What exactly did you see?
Thanks for great lecture. Have watched Muller's credentaled and enlightening talks before and this should be leading story in mainstream media but probably won't occur. Your dialog with "AlienVisitor" shows your wisdom, knowledge, and sane look at events that others use to reinforce their misguided belief in ET spacecraft because it fills some kind of primal need for mystical beliefs. Super job and many thanks.
mac also said that it spooked his animals and they wouldnt go near it. P.S, I dont read the enquirer, ever, im not interested in bullshit, i have been researching ufos for over 20 years and it pisses me off when people claim they know what really happened that day when there answer never explains what those people saw i doubt that many people that where involved in rosswell would be lying, a couple hundred people that either worked at the base or lived in town say something crashed there.
Is it pssible they were testing the effects on the body of crashes and high speed planes? I think they may have used minkeys, probably shaving them so they could attach electrodes etc. With respect to midwest people, they might not realise such bodies were monkeys.
I read that cover story a long time ago they also changed it scince then too,to high altitude spy balloons, You do realise what you just said sound more unbelieveable then aliens, shaved monkeys LMFAO, i really feel sorry for the gullible people that would believe such a bullshit and poorly thought of excuse for an explaination.
I'll try to explain in simple words for you. If you have an experimental plane or rocket or drone, pilots may not want to risk going in them. Unless they can find somebody as stupid as you are, it makes sense to test them with humanoid anmals. For that matter, they may want to test safety equipment, harnesses, ejector seats etc, or whether people can survive in high altitudes. So monkeys might well be used - or of course people like you might do though you may not have the performance skill.
Your baseing your conclusions on lies,it does'nt make any sense to try and prove a lie, thats not what the government is saying now, go read up on things before you shoot your mouth off, in a couple years they will change there story again, and i dont know if this is even possible, but you will look even more stupid and gillible, Go watch fox news and play xbox sheeple, or whatever it is they use to distract you into thinking for yourself.
Funny you should say pilots, they have the most experience in judging aircraft, why dont people listen to them? pilots have reported more ufos then anyone, But im willing to bet your too egoistic to listen to the astronuts and pilots that came forward, must suck to be that ignorrent and arrogent,to think your smarter and better then everyone,What happened daddy beat you too much as a child
AV, I'm just wondering, do you think that anecdotal evidence alone is sufficient to demonstrate alien visitation?
As counter-intuitive as it is, anecdotal evidence is worthless. We have anecdotal evidence of all kinds of stuff that's been proven to be bullshit, like psychics or homeopathy.
Skepticism is reasonable when considering extraordinary claims, like alien civilisations investing the energy and time required to travel interstellar distances just to mess with us primitives.
your acting like this only happened once, there are millions of encounters, why not tell that to former astronut edgar mitchell,or the hundreds of miltary officals that recently came forward, what energy are you talking about our primitive uses of fossial fuels? we have the tec to use water for fuel right now. Hydrogen is the most abundent thing in our universe you can find it anywhere, but im sure they have far better tec and they probably use something like gravity.
why do we spend millions of dollars researching monkeys, are the monkeys as stupid as you? and say why would they waste all that time and bannanas to watch us,Aliens using gas and oils is as stupid as saying there ships run off bannanas!I dont think they use any energy "as you know it" at all.P.S my belief is from PERSONAL experiences, and theres not a damn thing you or anyone could say that would ever change that
AV, the point I'm trying to make is that even if the alien civilisation is relatively close, like 100 light years away, that would take at least 100 years to get to us and 100 years to get back. That itself would require tremendous energy. You can't take the fuel with you, and space isn't dense enough to provide enough hydrogen for that velocity.
And if you want to propose faster than light travel, that requires energy levels exceeding the lifetime output of a typical star.
So it would be an understatement to say that this would be a BIG investment for an alien civilisation to come here.
Do you think I'm being unreasonable to say that seeing an unidentified object in the sky is not sufficient evidence to leap to the conclusion that these are the craft of hyper-advanced aliens? All you can point to are anomalies, zero physical evidence.
I'd love it to be true, nothing would fascinate me more. I just need more evidence than eyewitness testimony to convince me.
look at the nasa teather experiment you can see the by product of there propulsion system, david sereda explains it in a video, i just dont think aliens would even use energy the way we see it,eg. if you tried to explain nuclear fission to someone in the early 1900's they would act like you saying its not possible, and unbelievable, any advanced race would probably have better understanding of the elements then us, also maybe there solar system has planets with different elements.
Next was a nurce who worked at the base they took the bodies too and she claimed to have seen one of the aliens, also i believe they probably killed her for what she knew, because shes dead i dont know if i read that she was murdered or just thought that myself. The farmer that found the crash was mac brazil, not sure on the spelling there, he also said that it made a giant trench where it crashed not a crater so what ever it was it was flying like an airplane not a balloon that was floating.
Ok ill tell you what i know but ive literally read thousands of documents and articals so if you want references let me know and ill track down where i read it.the first thing that grabed my attention was the radio broadcast, said they found a flying saucer, next was testimonies from the mortician that siad the army wanted small coffins that could be hermetically sealed, no why in the hell would they need coffins for steel balls cont..
"what about all the military witnesses,ex governors, police officers, presidents, all claim they saw something or where involved in a cover up"
Can you give details or a reference?
"i bet in a couple of years it will be something else"
Well the official story hasn't changed since Project Mogul was declassified in the 90s. It seems plausible enough that the US would cover up a military project during the cold war. The claim that aliens were involved would require some extraordinary evidence.
Alright, former president Jimmy Carter, ex governor fife symington, arizona police, dennis kucinich, former astronauts, Buzz Aldrin, Gordan Cooper and Edgar Mitchell, former captian Bob sallis, canadian defence minister paul hellyer, and the list go's on and on, from all the bullshit lies the media and government fed me how in the hell do expect me to believe a damn thing they say, they lied to us then and there lying to us now.
The government certainly lies, but they are also terribly inefficient. Remember the Clinton scandal. If they can't keep a blowjob secret, then the idea that they managed to keep alien visitation secret is hard to accept.
Regarding the people you mentioned, are they all claiming to have evidence of the Roswell incident in particular? Buzz Aldrin wasn't even out of military academy during that time. What is the positive evidence for alien visitation during Roswell? Anything physical?
I'm not asking you to accept the official story, I'm just curious about what the evidence is for the claim that there was extra-terrestial involvement at Roswell.
That is an extraordinary claim regardless of whether the government is dishonest. I'd be absolutely fascinated to learn that there was good evidence for such a thing. Confirmation that not only alien life exists, but that it's been here would be the most amazing discovery ever, but I need some strong evidence to convince me.
Your contradicting your own video then how can you say they cant keep a secret when they kept the rosswell secret pretty damn good your the one who said himself they just released this information how is it new if you claim they cant keep a secret? well then we would have heard this explanation before then if that was true, i think you know very well that fife symington was not around rosswell 50 years ago he would have been sperm or very young.
Well no I never heard of Fife Symington before. I didn't check everyone on your list because I wanted to determine if you were talking about Roswell specifically before I started researching all those people.
You do make a good point that they can keep a secret sometimes. I'm open to the possibility. My only requirement to accept it is sufficient evidence.
In your opinion, what is the strongest positive evidence for the claim that there was extra-terrestial involvement in the Roswell incident?
Why are you playing stupid? the reason i put those names up was to prove that there are some very credible people out there say that aliens exist, as for rosswell, major jesse marcel must be really stupid to not know what human technology looks like, how do you become a major in the army and not know what steel is? also What about the metal he touched, that you could crumple in your hands then it gos back into original form but they couldnt make a mark or dent on it thats how strong it was
Some advice. You're not going to convince anyone to listen to you with that attitude. I'm not playing stupid, I'm just asking questions. I really don't know much about these claims. That's why I'm asking.
I looked up Jesse Marcel. I hope you'll not find it unreasonable of me to require more evidence than articles of National Enquirer from decades after the event. The possibility that he made it up for the sake of selling his story has to be taken into consideration. Is there better evidence?
Well they did come out with it in the 1990s. The details are now declassified and available to the public, I guess the media just didn't make a big deal out of it because they get more viewers by maintaining the conspiracy theories. There's a wikipedia entry about it, look up Project Mogul.
All you people, many of you americans, that belive in these green people from Mars COME ON! YOU ARE PATHETIC! but on the other hand why would I expect soething else from a people that belive i an 2000 year old book, seriously think that the earth is 6000 year old and don't belive in evolution... I must say i see some similarities to what religious christians in europe have belived in the past...but maybe you agree to that too, that the sun i in a orbit around our little planet..
Ah, the simple beauty of the conspiracy theory. There must be a conspiracy to hide the evidence, that's the only explanation for the complete lack of evidence. You realise that little bit of circular reasoning can be used to justify any belief?
Don't you think I want there to be alien visitations to our planet? Nothing could be more exciting and amazing, I just haven't seen any good evidence.
Bring on the evidence, not blurry photos of hubcaps on string or memories manufactured in hypnosis.
what about all the military witnesses,ex governors, police officers, presidents, all claim they saw something or where involved in a cover up, not just roswell.
It wasn't a weather balloon, it was a device for sensing the sounds of nuclear testing in the sound channel in the upper atmosphere.
Regarding the alien bodies you speak of, I don't have an explanation because all you've told me is that some people saw them.
I'd need to know the details, but in the absence of physical evidence of any kind, are you content to believe things just because some other people say so? Shouldn't the burden of proof be on those making the extraordinary claim?
Great lecture. But the explanation this wonderful man gives does not tally with the eye witness reports of the time. Id like to see him debate stanton friedman on this issue, and see what they both hash out.
I think I found him on the ucberkeley youtube channel. There's some videos from that channel in the related videos box on the right. If you go to their channel and search the videos for pacs, you'll find the lectures. I've not watched them though.
Walter Haut, the press officer at Roswell at the time of the crash, died and left an affidavit to be read only after his passing. It's a nice twist in that story and it's not much to do with balloons. :) Pity I didn't have you for my classes, your video was engaging.
I just can't help arguing with someone who says things that seem to make no sense. I have this irrational idea that maybe if I can just figure out the right words something will click and they will get it. Sometimes I just put a response to them because I can't let bullshit go unanswered.
Excellent and believable explanation of the 1947 government Lie/cover story for 'national security'. The weather balloon was an obvious lie and contradicted the witnesses and facts of the case.
I just wonder when we might hear the real story and exposure of another 'government Lie/cover story' of the 'lone assassin' of JFK. Will it also be explained away in years to come as a quaint piece of history and a necessary 1963 Lie for 'national security'?
Could have been condensed into one 10 minute spiel. Did he do it for the retarded "President of the Future" students or was he short on lecture material.
Smart lecturer, retarded students. What else is new.
dude you are so DUMB... not everyone needs to take Physics courses... why would you need a Physics course for Engineers/Physicists if you are an English Major?
But if Physics is something you want to learn you can take this type of courses...
Many of the lectures get a lot more technical, but the point of this course is so that more people can understand science without having to actually DO the science themselves. Science has an impact on our daily lives more and more and it's necessary for future presidents not just of countries, but of corporations and anyone in a decision making position to be aware of scientific realities. They can hire a physicist to do the science, but they will now understand the results.
Also watch the lectures about relativity and then tell me it's dumbed down. If you think that then you just weren't paying attention, which pretty much proves how stupid YOU are.
I don't understand your point. This lecture is about the physics of waves, which is relevant to so much I don't even know where to begin. I cut down a lot of the discussion about the physics because I wanted to focus on the main facts relevant to the Roswell incident. The original lecture is an hour long. Also don't you think it's worth learning things just for the sake of learning? There is a certain pleasure to be gained from learning about things that maybe don't have practical applications.
pcristiani responded to my comment about this lecture being dumbed down. He went on a tangent about how physics 101 is okay for non scientists. I don't disagree, and I also add that this is irrelevant to my original point, which was this lecture was severely dumbed down and that the students are probably retarded.
Of course physics is important. Being well rounded and capable of broad studies requires understanding of the arts, sciences, and philosophies. Again, all this is irrelevant to my original point of contention with pcristiani, that the lecturer was obviously intelligent, and that he was dealing with dumb arse students.
It's clear we're on different wave lengths (brm tish). The internet can turn a simple misunderstanding into an argument, and I don't care enough for that.
Well okay but I still don't understand why you can assume that all the students are stupid. You haven't read their essays, you haven't talked to them. It's just assumption, and I guess I was just pissed off because I would have probably taken this course if I had the opportunity, and so it was insulting me too. If you want to claim that the students are stupid, go find their essays and exam results.
I am a high school teacher and have been lecuring about Roswell's true background with regard to Soviet monitoring, but had no real idea about the physics behind it. This lecture was just fantastic. Dr. Muller is evidently a master instructor - the science and the social reasons for it make for perfect knowledge. Thank you for posting.
well, terrorist attacks are far less dangerous. you should keep that in mind, compared to other things like diseases or car accidents or smoking its quite strange that terrorism causes so much fear and confusion.
what we should really worry about is the religious radicals, we have them in almost all big religions, and they really are dangerous. they also cause genocides and fundamentalist regimes, terrorism really is dwarved by the true problem behind it.
the truth is the soviet union in the 50's couldn't build a t.v., never mind a long range missile. The same as Iraq's ability to distroy the U.S. My point was the use of scare tactics and paranoia on the American public.
missiles came later, but a nuclear weapon dropped from a plane or carried by submarines is dangerous enough. both nations had these technologies right from the beginning.
the ability to find and take down any airplane with acceptable certainty came later... technology has changed, but at least the ability to take out cities located at the coast using submarines was always there.

Btw, re the sound channel. I would think that the waves travel across the whole surface of a sphere bounded by the radii of the sound channel, i.e. not only into two directions. So the energy loss would be a bit more than 50 % ?

it is enough evidence to be able to claim that they are here and that they their origin is not Earth.
newcome880 2 years ago
I appreciate your passion and I don't mean to come across as dismissive, but I think the significant difference between us is what we consider sufficient evidence.
The reason I haven't addressed your claims about the witnesses is because anecdotal evidence is not sufficient for me to accept such an extraordinary claim. Even if these reports are from honest and reliable witnesses, it's irrelevant. It may sound dismissive, but anecdotal evidence is worthless.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
I could go on about the fallibility of perception and memory, the tendency to see false patterns and all the reasons I have the standard of evidence that I do, but that would be a long conversation in itself.
Youtube comments are a very poor medium for a conversation of this depth and the multiple directions that it inevitably leads into.
I'd be fascinated to find out that there really was alien life visiting our planet. I'm not ideologically opposed to the idea or anything.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
I'm not saying that I can prove that there aren't aliens visiting the Earth, I'm just saying that I'm not yet convinced that they are.
Regarding the claim that Ufology is a science, frankly that's just not true. Where are the peer-reviewed scientific papers on alien research? Science requires empirical physical evidence and repeatable verifiable observation. Even if true, these claims are not scientific.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
So I'm not sure where we can go from here. I don't think it would be worth your while outlining all the anecdotal evidence you have, since it's not the kind of evidence I'd accept.
I could explain in more detail why I reject this sort of evidence as inadequate, or there are podcasts and books I could recommend, but I suspect that's not what you're looking for here.
If you're interested in further discussion, maybe we could take this to a forum better suited to this depth of conversation.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
Ck MUFON for example.
newcome880 2 years ago
with the kind of attitude you have (I can understand it to some extent) people probably won't make progress if it comes to UFOs and aliens because it seems that ''their'' prime directive is not to interfear with our development. They seem to be worried about certain things like nuclear weapons and betimes they show that they are there and that they care. I doubt they would have ''allowed'' WWIII, to put it in other words. So the physical evidence you're looking for may not be available for ...
newcome880 2 years ago
a long time. They are only trying to verify their THEORIES and call that science even though there is NO evidence that their theories are correct.
newcome880 2 years ago
perhaps we should put more trust in people like Cooper, Mitchell and the other folks who cleary come around as serious people with genuine intentions. Just imagine that what they say IS true but we ignore them because they cannot show us a dead alien or an alien spaceship. So what I hope is that you take a closer look at what's available and maybe you'll change your mind because I can't imagine you wouldn't if you knew what I already know.
newcome880 2 years ago
Radar observations have been made of objects that were definitely no aircraft and no natural phenomena due to the fact that these objects made maneuvers which defy known physics (acceleration with 40 g, right angle turns during high speed flight etc). The fact that these things occur not only once but several times in different locations with very similar patterns and striking commonalities excludes RADAR malfunction. All of this IS evidence - not in the form of an alien spaceship - but
newcome880 2 years ago
take Greifswald for example. For example in Belgium 1990 (a very popular example).
newcome880 2 years ago
i.e. confiscated evidence in the form of photos and videos. It amazes me how you avoid certain topics always maintaining your standpoint. I've mentioned names, incidents, events and reasons why astronomers don't observe UFOs but you (seem to) ignore all of that. You can't explain it away, so you don't mention it. But just because you haven't seen a UFO for yourself or because you don't believe it doesn't mean they are not here.
newcome880 2 years ago
pilots and astronauts ARE experts. But there is evidence ...
newcome880 2 years ago
they choose their witnesses, if you will.
newcome880 2 years ago
I correct myself: politicians are not necessarily credible ppl :D But the other ones are. Ck out the Rendlesham incident. Those guys even touched an alien space craft or were standing right in front of it.
Cooper's film roll was confiscated by his superiors. I wonder why they would confiscate them if what he had seen were just misperceptions ?
newcome880 2 years ago
pointed them to objects in the atmosphere ?
I've had only ONE sighting in my whole life which I couldn't explain and those objects I saw were definitely under intelligent control. I know what Iridium flares are, I've seen many meteors, I know natural atmospheric phenomenas very well ... so it's not that I won't be able to distinguish things ;-)
3. believe it or not. But there are many indications that ''they'' know exactly when someone is looking at them from the ground.
newcome880 2 years ago
Astronomers don't only look at the sky through telescopes. They look up at the sky with the naked eye too, more often than non-astronomers and probably more than they do with telescopes.
The assertion that astronauts and pilots can identify all naturally occurring phenomena is dubious. They just aren't experts in that field.
At best, what we have are unexplained sightings. Unexplained means unexplained not alien spacecraft.
And there's no physical evidence. So I'm skeptical.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
to be sceptical is okay. They are certainly NO experts on aircrafts.
newcome880 2 years ago
Wouldn't their telescopes be somewhat out of focus if they ...
newcome880 2 years ago
excuse me, sir. There are several reasons why astronomers don't see them (perhaps some have I don't know) ...
newcome880 2 years ago
what about the statements made by Dr. Btw, it isn't only these two guys ;-)
newcome880 2 years ago
Well I think the idea that they're either correct or lying is a false dichotomy. They could just be mistaken.
The problem is that human perception and memory is not as reliable as we'd like to think. That's why we can be fooled by things like magic tricks and optical illusions. This is why extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and there isn't anything beyond anecdotes.
There are anecdotes from scientists who say they've seen mystics like Sai Baba create gold out of thin air.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
If there really were alien spacecraft in our skies, the people who would see them the most would be astronomers.
However, they are among the least likely to report UFOs. These are the experts in identifying phenomena in the sky.
How can we explain this discrepancy, except with the idea that these UFOs are just misidentified unusual natural atmospheric or stellar phenomena? Or that most astronomers all over the world, even amateurs, are part of an absurdly vast conspiracy?
theinquisitor 2 years ago
I liked the physics content of this lecture and it's easy to understand. But how come that just because it works it explains what ''really'' happened at Roswell ? Okay, if that were true, I have to ask you what were the secret discoveries of physics at Rendlesham, Malmstrom AFB, Vandenburg AFB etc etc ? All the time UFOs landed there or destroyed the electronics of nuclear weapons there was another clever monkey who invented something top secret ?! now c'mon. That's naive. I don't buy it
newcome880 2 years ago
blackholes and wormholes bend space and time,so its possible they are using something that produces that power, therefore it wouldnt take them very long at all, we are studying stuff like that at cern right now, cant imagine what a race of beings would have thought of that are thousands of years more advanced then us.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
AV, for one thing, that's not what they're studying at CERN. They know that they'd need FAR more energy than they're using to create a wormhole, and the blackholes they're making are microscopic and last for fractions of a nanosecond.
As I said, if you want to propose FTL, like using a wormhole, that requires TREMENDOUS energy. E=MC^2 for the aliens too. Don't you realise that adding on contradictions to the known laws of physics to your case makes it harder to believe, not easier?
theinquisitor 2 years ago
I mean you're suggesting that they're so advanced that they can practically overcome the law of conservation of energy itself, cross thousands of light years by bending the very fabric of space and time themselves, and then they fuck up on entry into Earth's atmosphere and crash.
Are they hyper advanced or incompetent? Which is it? You're can't have it both ways.
If you want to contradict the known laws of physics, you'd better have something better than eyewitness bloody testimony.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
Your contradicting your self in just one paragraph, first you say thats not what they are studying, then next it all of sudden does have to do with black holes but they just dont have enough power, how do you go from not at all to not enough power? I think you dont know what your talking about, it has everything to do with black holes.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
I think its really stupid to say thats not what they are studying then in the same damn paragraph they are making small ones. Watch david serda videos on the nasa teither incident, you might learn something.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
Just because your too ignorrent to understand it doesn't make it impossible.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
AV, the problem is that the world black hole is being used to refer to two very different things. The microscopic ones that instantly evaporate in a puff of Hawking radiation are the ones that might be produced at CERN, and the huge ones that form from dying stars.
You said they could use wormholes or black holes for their interstellar travel. That would require the larger type if it was even possible. So the point is that they are not studying the type of black holes you're talking about.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
And you ignored my other points. You're asking me to ignore known physics in favour of eyewitness testimony.
Anecdotal evidence is worthless. We have anecdotal evidence of all kinds of bullshit. Like the loch ness monster, bigfoot, ghosts, psychics, astrology, homeopathy, astral projection, angels and demons, revelations from various gods, conspiracy theories, and miracles of every religion and cult. If you looked into any of those, you'd find tons of anecdotal evidence for those. It's crap.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
Where's the physical evidence? Where's the pieces of alien spacecraft, or alien tissue? Where's anything that isn't someone saying "ooh I can't identify that thing in the sky it must be an alien spaceship!"
If you don't understand why eyewitness reports are meaningless, you need to learn more about the fallibility of human perception and confirmation bias. Ever experienced an optical illusion? Or seen a magic trick? People are easily fooled, especially by things they WANT to be true.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
how much evidence do we leave behind when we are spying on enemies, and we are thousands of years less advanced, Some of them could be from the 4th dimension and you wouldnt even know they were there lol jk
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
They have to start somewhere, i think what they find there will prove me right more than you. your trying to stick words in my mouth, i never said they were making that big of black holes, ever, i said they are studying them.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
"how much evidence do we leave behind when we are spying on enemies, and we are thousands of years less advanced"
But that's not an answer to the skeptic's challenge. That's saying, it's true because there's no evidence for it.
I'm not saying that alien visitation is impossible, I'm just saying that skepticism is reasonable in the absence of sufficient evidence. Do you at least accept that skepticism isn't an unreasonable position in this case?
theinquisitor 2 years ago
Its reasonable if you never saw something before then i can see why, but I have and when you do too you will see why i believe so strongly.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
I've seen things in the sky I couldn't identify, I just don't understand how you can go from that to the conclusion that it's an alien spacecraft.
Do you know what group of people look at the skies more than anyone? The group of people who are expert at identifying objects in the sky? The group that reports UFOs far less than anyone else if at all?
Astronomers. Surely they'd be seeing more UFOs than anyone, but they know how to identify celestial objects. What exactly did you see?
theinquisitor 2 years ago
Thanks for great lecture. Have watched Muller's credentaled and enlightening talks before and this should be leading story in mainstream media but probably won't occur. Your dialog with "AlienVisitor" shows your wisdom, knowledge, and sane look at events that others use to reinforce their misguided belief in ET spacecraft because it fills some kind of primal need for mystical beliefs. Super job and many thanks.
nergvol 2 years ago
mac also said that it spooked his animals and they wouldnt go near it.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
Is it pssible they were testing the effects on the body of crashes and high speed planes? I think they may have used minkeys, probably shaving them so they could attach electrodes etc. With respect to midwest people, they might not realise such bodies were monkeys.
rerevisionist 2 years ago
I read that cover story a long time ago they also changed it scince then too,to high altitude spy balloons, You do realise what you just said sound more unbelieveable then aliens, shaved monkeys LMFAO, i really feel sorry for the gullible people that would believe such a bullshit and poorly thought of excuse for an explaination.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
I'll try to explain in simple words for you. If you have an experimental plane or rocket or drone, pilots may not want to risk going in them. Unless they can find somebody as stupid as you are, it makes sense to test them with humanoid anmals. For that matter, they may want to test safety equipment, harnesses, ejector seats etc, or whether people can survive in high altitudes. So monkeys might well be used - or of course people like you might do though you may not have the performance skill.
rerevisionist 2 years ago
Your baseing your conclusions on lies,it does'nt make any sense to try and prove a lie, thats not what the government is saying now, go read up on things before you shoot your mouth off, in a couple years they will change there story again, and i dont know if this is even possible, but you will look even more stupid and gillible, Go watch fox news and play xbox sheeple, or whatever it is they use to distract you into thinking for yourself.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
Funny you should say pilots, they have the most experience in judging aircraft, why dont people listen to them? pilots have reported more ufos then anyone, But im willing to bet your too egoistic to listen to the astronuts and pilots that came forward, must suck to be that ignorrent and arrogent,to think your smarter and better then everyone,What happened daddy beat you too much as a child
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
AV, I'm just wondering, do you think that anecdotal evidence alone is sufficient to demonstrate alien visitation?
As counter-intuitive as it is, anecdotal evidence is worthless. We have anecdotal evidence of all kinds of stuff that's been proven to be bullshit, like psychics or homeopathy.
Skepticism is reasonable when considering extraordinary claims, like alien civilisations investing the energy and time required to travel interstellar distances just to mess with us primitives.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
your acting like this only happened once, there are millions of encounters, why not tell that to former astronut edgar mitchell,or the hundreds of miltary officals that recently came forward, what energy are you talking about our primitive uses of fossial fuels? we have the tec to use water for fuel right now. Hydrogen is the most abundent thing in our universe you can find it anywhere, but im sure they have far better tec and they probably use something like gravity.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
why do we spend millions of dollars researching monkeys, are the monkeys as stupid as you? and say why would they waste all that time and bannanas to watch us,Aliens using gas and oils is as stupid as saying there ships run off bannanas!I dont think they use any energy "as you know it" at all.P.S my belief is from PERSONAL experiences, and theres not a damn thing you or anyone could say that would ever change that
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
AV, the point I'm trying to make is that even if the alien civilisation is relatively close, like 100 light years away, that would take at least 100 years to get to us and 100 years to get back. That itself would require tremendous energy. You can't take the fuel with you, and space isn't dense enough to provide enough hydrogen for that velocity.
And if you want to propose faster than light travel, that requires energy levels exceeding the lifetime output of a typical star.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
So it would be an understatement to say that this would be a BIG investment for an alien civilisation to come here.
Do you think I'm being unreasonable to say that seeing an unidentified object in the sky is not sufficient evidence to leap to the conclusion that these are the craft of hyper-advanced aliens? All you can point to are anomalies, zero physical evidence.
I'd love it to be true, nothing would fascinate me more. I just need more evidence than eyewitness testimony to convince me.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
look at the nasa teather experiment you can see the by product of there propulsion system, david sereda explains it in a video, i just dont think aliens would even use energy the way we see it,eg. if you tried to explain nuclear fission to someone in the early 1900's they would act like you saying its not possible, and unbelievable, any advanced race would probably have better understanding of the elements then us, also maybe there solar system has planets with different elements.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
Next was a nurce who worked at the base they took the bodies too and she claimed to have seen one of the aliens, also i believe they probably killed her for what she knew, because shes dead i dont know if i read that she was murdered or just thought that myself. The farmer that found the crash was mac brazil, not sure on the spelling there, he also said that it made a giant trench where it crashed not a crater so what ever it was it was flying like an airplane not a balloon that was floating.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
Ok ill tell you what i know but ive literally read thousands of documents and articals so if you want references let me know and ill track down where i read it.the first thing that grabed my attention was the radio broadcast, said they found a flying saucer, next was testimonies from the mortician that siad the army wanted small coffins that could be hermetically sealed, no why in the hell would they need coffins for steel balls cont..
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
This story keeps changing every few years, which bullshit story are we supposed to believe, i bet in a couple of years it will be something else.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
"what about all the military witnesses,ex governors, police officers, presidents, all claim they saw something or where involved in a cover up"
Can you give details or a reference?
"i bet in a couple of years it will be something else"
Well the official story hasn't changed since Project Mogul was declassified in the 90s. It seems plausible enough that the US would cover up a military project during the cold war. The claim that aliens were involved would require some extraordinary evidence.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
Alright, former president Jimmy Carter, ex governor fife symington, arizona police, dennis kucinich, former astronauts, Buzz Aldrin, Gordan Cooper and Edgar Mitchell, former captian Bob sallis, canadian defence minister paul hellyer, and the list go's on and on, from all the bullshit lies the media and government fed me how in the hell do expect me to believe a damn thing they say, they lied to us then and there lying to us now.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
The government certainly lies, but they are also terribly inefficient. Remember the Clinton scandal. If they can't keep a blowjob secret, then the idea that they managed to keep alien visitation secret is hard to accept.
Regarding the people you mentioned, are they all claiming to have evidence of the Roswell incident in particular? Buzz Aldrin wasn't even out of military academy during that time. What is the positive evidence for alien visitation during Roswell? Anything physical?
theinquisitor 2 years ago
I'm not asking you to accept the official story, I'm just curious about what the evidence is for the claim that there was extra-terrestial involvement at Roswell.
That is an extraordinary claim regardless of whether the government is dishonest. I'd be absolutely fascinated to learn that there was good evidence for such a thing. Confirmation that not only alien life exists, but that it's been here would be the most amazing discovery ever, but I need some strong evidence to convince me.
theinquisitor 2 years ago
Your contradicting your own video then how can you say they cant keep a secret when they kept the rosswell secret pretty damn good your the one who said himself they just released this information how is it new if you claim they cant keep a secret? well then we would have heard this explanation before then if that was true, i think you know very well that fife symington was not around rosswell 50 years ago he would have been sperm or very young.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
Well no I never heard of Fife Symington before. I didn't check everyone on your list because I wanted to determine if you were talking about Roswell specifically before I started researching all those people.
You do make a good point that they can keep a secret sometimes. I'm open to the possibility. My only requirement to accept it is sufficient evidence.
In your opinion, what is the strongest positive evidence for the claim that there was extra-terrestial involvement in the Roswell incident?
theinquisitor 2 years ago
Why are you playing stupid? the reason i put those names up was to prove that there are some very credible people out there say that aliens exist, as for rosswell, major jesse marcel must be really stupid to not know what human technology looks like, how do you become a major in the army and not know what steel is? also What about the metal he touched, that you could crumple in your hands then it gos back into original form but they couldnt make a mark or dent on it thats how strong it was
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
Some advice. You're not going to convince anyone to listen to you with that attitude. I'm not playing stupid, I'm just asking questions. I really don't know much about these claims. That's why I'm asking.
I looked up Jesse Marcel. I hope you'll not find it unreasonable of me to require more evidence than articles of National Enquirer from decades after the event. The possibility that he made it up for the sake of selling his story has to be taken into consideration. Is there better evidence?
theinquisitor 2 years ago
okay sounds plausable but if that is all so true why can't the US come out with it already instead of leading in all this debate?
cowgal1994 3 years ago
Well they did come out with it in the 1990s. The details are now declassified and available to the public, I guess the media just didn't make a big deal out of it because they get more viewers by maintaining the conspiracy theories. There's a wikipedia entry about it, look up Project Mogul.
theinquisitor 3 years ago

Ah, the simple beauty of the conspiracy theory. There must be a conspiracy to hide the evidence, that's the only explanation for the complete lack of evidence. You realise that little bit of circular reasoning can be used to justify any belief?
Don't you think I want there to be alien visitations to our planet? Nothing could be more exciting and amazing, I just haven't seen any good evidence.
Bring on the evidence, not blurry photos of hubcaps on string or memories manufactured in hypnosis.
theinquisitor 3 years ago
what about all the military witnesses,ex governors, police officers, presidents, all claim they saw something or where involved in a cover up, not just roswell.
AlienVisitor 2 years ago
how do you account for that up to 20 people all speak of dead bodies of the "aliens" at the crash-site of roswell?
All the dosin eye-witnesses to th 1947-roswell-incident ALL speak of dead alien bodies.
It is very possibly that it was a weather-ballon, but please explain the alien bodies.
ludersatan 3 years ago
It wasn't a weather balloon, it was a device for sensing the sounds of nuclear testing in the sound channel in the upper atmosphere.
Regarding the alien bodies you speak of, I don't have an explanation because all you've told me is that some people saw them.
I'd need to know the details, but in the absence of physical evidence of any kind, are you content to believe things just because some other people say so? Shouldn't the burden of proof be on those making the extraordinary claim?

But if Physics is something you want to learn you can take this type of courses...
pcristiani 4 years ago
So, what you're saying proves my argument. That is, this is dumbed down for students who are retarded.
Thanks for highlighting how stupid YOU really are.
Come again.

Exactly. Why are you rehashing my valid point? Thanks again.

Also watch the lectures about relativity and then tell me it's dumbed down. If you think that then you just weren't paying attention, which pretty much proves how stupid YOU are.
theinquisitor 4 years ago
My comment was about THIS lecture, not a different one. Lectures about relativity are irrelevant (brrm-tish). Please stop making an ass of yourself.
muslimfast 4 years ago
I don't understand your point. This lecture is about the physics of waves, which is relevant to so much I don't even know where to begin. I cut down a lot of the discussion about the physics because I wanted to focus on the main facts relevant to the Roswell incident. The original lecture is an hour long. Also don't you think it's worth learning things just for the sake of learning? There is a certain pleasure to be gained from learning about things that maybe don't have practical applications.

pcristiani responded to my comment about this lecture being dumbed down. He went on a tangent about how physics 101 is okay for non scientists. I don't disagree, and I also add that this is irrelevant to my original point, which was this lecture was severely dumbed down and that the students are probably retarded.
muslimfast 4 years ago
Of course physics is important. Being well rounded and capable of broad studies requires understanding of the arts, sciences, and philosophies. Again, all this is irrelevant to my original point of contention with pcristiani, that the lecturer was obviously intelligent, and that he was dealing with dumb arse students.
It's clear we're on different wave lengths (brm tish). The internet can turn a simple misunderstanding into an argument, and I don't care enough for that.
muslimfast 4 years ago

I wish I had gone to Berkeley.

we moved from nuclear attacks to terrorist attacks. wow, nothing ever changes.
bryanao 4 years ago
well, terrorist attacks are far less dangerous. you should keep that in mind, compared to other things like diseases or car accidents or smoking its quite strange that terrorism causes so much fear and confusion.
what we should really worry about is the religious radicals, we have them in almost all big religions, and they really are dangerous. they also cause genocides and fundamentalist regimes, terrorism really is dwarved by the true problem behind it.

the truth is the soviet union in the 50's couldn't build a t.v., never mind a long range missile. The same as Iraq's ability to distroy the U.S. My point was the use of scare tactics and paranoia on the American public.
bryanao 4 years ago
missiles came later, but a nuclear weapon dropped from a plane or carried by submarines is dangerous enough. both nations had these technologies right from the beginning.
the ability to find and take down any airplane with acceptable certainty came later... technology has changed, but at least the ability to take out cities located at the coast using submarines was always there.
