@philyfree British is the adjective to refer to people from the United Kingdom. So, whilst people from Northern Ireland can consider themselves citizens of the UK, or Ireland, the way of describing their citizenship would be either "British" or "Irish".
Check the Wikipedia page for British Citizenship: "British Citizens usually hold this status through a connection with the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and Isle of Man". So, by living in the UK (ie, in NI), you can be considered British.

@philyfree It's a very complicated issue in this country - identity that is. I would call myself Irish and not British. You have a choice of either passport, some people call themselves Northern Irish, which i think is just a farse.

@ardeestephen100 It's David Ervine, and I think you misunderstood his point. He wasn't saying that he was not British. He was saying that just because someone in Northern Ireland considers themself to be British, doesn't mean that they are not Irish.
Northern Irish citizens can identify themselves as Irish, British, or both, in accordance with the Good Friday Agreement.

eh no. Firstly Ulster is one of the four ancient Kingdoms of Ireland, which today is made up of nine counties, there are presently six of those within N. Ireland. Secondly Great Britain refers to the island of Britain. The "great" part is to differentiate it from Brittany in France. So whatever way you wan to look at it Northern Ireland is part of Ireland, the clue is in the name.
