I had a female Hairless Rat Sadie. She was the love of my life and I understand the pain of loss. She used to ride on my shoulder and hide in my hair...we would adventure to the video store. They are very loving and sweet pets. Thank you for sharing this, I unfortunately never got a pic of my sweet Sadie.

The only other animal I've had that loved me as much is a dog. And Brian; The lab thinks he's a rat. When they come out to play he's right there wanting in on the fun. He's a great babysitter and has fallen asleep with them all. never a thought of harming them. He even grooms them.

My baby albino, isobel died cause of cancer when she was young :( her and her two sisters were rescued from this persons house who had started with two rats, male and female, but didnt have them nutered, so it got out of control. isobel, simone, and peekaboo were the only ones that madeit out alive. rats are the best pets you could have though, thats for sure!

According to all that I've read about hairless rats, they'r no more prone to getting sick than those with hair. All rats are prone to respiratory illnesses. The best thing to do is keep them away from all wood based bedding wich has harmful chemicals in it. I use all cotton T shirts. If they do get sick a good small animal vet will prescribe Baytril as an antibiotic and it usually works. Don't be afraid to get them just be aware.

But ill always love the ones i had..
@drameon and i researched the hairless rat. each year the rats that are breeding have been getting stronger immune systems. so hopefully in around the next 2 years, they will be healthy enough to live longer.

I have one, Bologna, who has been with me almost 2 years after a rescue. I had not thought of giving them peas, but that is a fine idea. Bologna likes a special lickable milkshake I make for him. no, the rat should absolutely not sneeze! It probably have a cold then :-/ depending on what you mean with "itching", does the rat do it all the time ore just once and a while? Hairless rats often get desises, some of them barely get over a year.... But a lot of good nutricius food and a warm enviroment is importent :)
@drameon i'm getting a hairless rat today, i live in hawaii, so i'm hoping that he will live a long time. i already went to petco and went all out. i got the bedding that is super soft and perfect for hairless animals. i got that cozy nest puffs that the rat can use at his own will, a snak shak treat that has fruit and stuff he can get after chewing on it, and of course i bought him some treats that i can mix with his daily intake of food. i really am excited.

Your little guys are adorable. I have a hairless fancy rat named Sybil and she will have a little sister by Valentine's Day when she is weaned. Her name is Nymh and she is also a hairless fancy rat. My Sybil cleans her ears just like little Nuki at 2:50 licking and all. :) I love hairless rats. They are so sweet and cute.
if its an inverted eyelash problem which is so painful and can be sorted by the vet easily
they give them a teeny bit of snoozy air to make him sleepy then remove the inverted lashes and within days he will be staring at you just like he does with his other :)
Really? That's interesting...sad, but interesting. The recessive alleles for no hair must somehow be linked to the eyes... I'll have to ask my biology teacher about that. I thank God that Sybil and Nymh have good eyes and I give kisses to sweet little Nuki. :) He is special and you are special for loving him.
They are so sweet...rats have always been a part of my life. I have never had a hairless one though....maybe someday one will need rescuing and I will be there at the right time.
Weedo got his name from the anime "Weed", if you haven't seen Nagareboshi Gin (Silver Fang) and you like anime i Really recomened it!! Weed is about silver fangs son, and thats where i got the name.. Nuki i dont know, i just liked the name and think it suits him ^_^
well, first of all they are not as healthy as furred rats, their immunsystem is not as good and they tend to get sick quite easy.. most of the hairless rats don't live that long but some of them does :-) since they dont have any furr they need to be kept warm, they also eat more than other rats- just to be able to keep their body warm.. but they are just so charming, you cant do other than love them. So warm and sooo cute!! :)

Aww, I'm sorry about your ratlets, i had a hairless rat named Boo Ratley, she died a while back too. i still get so sad when i think about her.

Mine has a VERY long tail, and has features like weedo, mine likes to be hand fed also.

thank you! yes, they are absolutley adorable, i only have one of the two hairless guys left (the dumbo). he's 1 year and a half now so i hope he will stay with me a bit longer, i just love his temperament! So sweet :-)

They are verry cute but I cant help but say they do look like penises...but none the less still cute especially there manorisums...I have 2 regular rats there in there cage next tome right there one is up top of the cage I can hear him eating..and the other one is hideing under his drinking water...thereboth realy tame...but my rat at my mums house died last night :(..she was verry old though

i love hairless rats!!! i had one that looked just like the dumbo one, named chupathingy. too cute!!! ugh makes me miss my rattykins, defintely some of the best pets i've ever had...if i didn't have too many pets already i'd definitely want to get rats again...too bad they don't live more than a few years : (

ah,, i know the feeling.. when these three rats i have now, have passed away i don't think i'll get any more, not for a while atleast. And its sooo hard to get use to the idea being without!! Rats do have something special,, they will always have a special place in my heart! So i just try to enjoy my little guys and i love everyday i get to be with them :-)

your hairless rats are adorable...i have 1 regular rat jasper and i have a hairless rat simba...jasper likes his space and so does simba so they are cage by cage...simba is so loving...i bought him when he was 3 weeks old and he is so tame and little still...jaspers prolly over a fooe long and really fat but he's a mommas boy he wont go to anyone else but me and for some odd reason my 1 friend...anyways cute video i liked watchin them sleep...its always so cute

single rats REALLY REALLY need another partner too guys, they need more then the love we show in those dark early chilly hours of the morning a rat buddy is essential, they are happier more playful in twos also as rats are a social species never living a solitary life PLEASE get lone rats a buddy I promise you will see a change for the better

Off course! i would never force a rat to be alone since its against their nature. Ive had rats since i was born so i know.. i have three rats now, two of them are living together but the third never accepted other rats so he is alone- by own choise. And thats different.

Your little guys are adorable. I have a hairless fancy rat named Sybil and she will have a little sister by Valentine's Day when she is weaned. Her name is Nymh and she is also a hairless fancy rat. My Sybil cleans her ears just like little Nuki at 2:50 licking and all. :) I love hairless rats. They are so sweet and cute.

he hasn't lost hes eye, its just like that.. hairless rats intends to have problem with their eyes so unfortunatly its not that unusual..

if its an inverted eyelash problem which is so painful and can be sorted by the vet easily
they give them a teeny bit of snoozy air to make him sleepy then remove the inverted lashes and within days he will be staring at you just like he does with his other :)
please sort it though it can be painful.
does his eye water or discharge anything ever ?

Really? That's interesting...sad, but interesting. The recessive alleles for no hair must somehow be linked to the eyes... I'll have to ask my biology teacher about that. I thank God that Sybil and Nymh have good eyes and I give kisses to sweet little Nuki. :) He is special and you are special for loving him.

well its due to any hair being very curly as you'll notice their curly whiskers, some eyelashes can curl into the eye too unfortunately :(

Weedo got his name from the anime "Weed", if you haven't seen Nagareboshi Gin (Silver Fang) and you like anime i Really recomened it!! Weed is about silver fangs son, and thats where i got the name.. Nuki i dont know, i just liked the name and think it suits him ^_^

well, first of all they are not as healthy as furred rats, their immunsystem is not as good and they tend to get sick quite easy.. most of the hairless rats don't live that long but some of them does :-) since they dont have any furr they need to be kept warm, they also eat more than other rats- just to be able to keep their body warm.. but they are just so charming, you cant do other than love them. So warm and sooo cute!! :)
