Like the hand when doyle brunson had pocket kings and flopped a set on a dry board. he bet huge, like 50k in a small pot. oddly enough negranu was in the hand and called with a bottom pair. i know ill never be in a game like that....but it makes u wonder how the hell these guys got so rich playing poker.

@chadmoore46 i've never seen that 'doyle' hand, but i understand what you mean. sometimes a huge overbet is used to try and make the opponent think you are full of it, and are just trying to buy the pot. two things have to happen, though, in order for that play to work. you have to have the 'nuts' or damn close to it, and your opponent has to make the hero call. if the opponent DOES fold his hand, though, you probably just lost a lot of value if opponent WOULD call a smaller bet.

@00J4KE00 yes , if hes willing to call half his money his equity commits him to the rest, he played this hand like a pussy idiot..hes out of position if your losing to QQ or JJ essentially a race u cant call and check a flop because u cant proceed with A high out of position so the correct play is shove preflop cause your out of position, essentially it gives him 40% of the cards ( turn and river ) to spike a pair and win the hand, and if Howard thought he has AA or KK he would never call a 4bet

I don't understand why these guys give Durr any respect for having a hand. Seems like you can assume that 90% of the time he has a random hand and 10% of the time he has a monster. If you call him, 1 time out of 10 you'll be wrong, and out of the 9 remaining times, 2 or 3 times he'll get lucky. The problem is, people seem to be so scared. Maybe they're playing with so much money that it affects their decisions, which they always preach you shouldn't do.

Dwan read Lederer correctly, putting him on either AK or AQ. If Lederer had Aces, Kings or Queens his re-raise to 60k would have been money flushed down the toilet. With the right flop Dwan would have shoved in more money but I guess he got scared of the Queen.

Still wonder how he would have played it if the 8 didn't hit though. He just got incredibly lucky there.

in Howard's mind, getting 4bet so SMALL means "I have a pocket pair" but it might even be AA or KK (unlikely due to the AK) but very possibly QQ or JJ ... which means if he calls that small RR and misses the flop, that's a lotta $ wasted. Dwan coulda folded to the 3bet, but he couldn't just call since then he's lost the initiative and has no chance to shove the flop. Nice Play by the young gun... since he knows for sure his hand is a dog, he's gotta represent a high pair!
